Praying for a OChem heavy BS tbh , which is sad coming from someone with a degree in Bio (Unless it's mostly genetics/ molecular genetics or evolution/populations because those were the major focus of my most recent upper divisions).

Well I took my afternoon off and ran by the testing center, learned their rules. Reviewing my test from today and attending my little brother's ball game too. Sleep deprive myself a wee bit tonight so its easier to fall asleep tomorrow!!
 
took all the aamc tests except 11 because i don't want to hurt my confidence. for those who did a GS tests (i.e. Saxappeal haha) how would you compare the amount calculations to aamc 11?
 
Hey guys! Just found this thread and created an account....obviously last minute freak out. I also didn't do 11 cause I know for a fact I will write again. Mostly cause this is the last year and I want to make sure I get the highest possible that I can manage.Wondering if I should do 11 tonight now that so many of you are recommending it to others...

you shouldn't take the mcat knowing that you will write it again. that's the single worst thing you could do in my opinion.
 
Also taking 11 tomorrow. I'll correct it on Thursday and maybe brush up on pure memorization with flashcards (like various rules and formulas. No major concepts). Friday, I plan to chill out and have lunch with some friends. I heard a tip about depriving yourself of some sleep on Thursday night so it's easier to fall asleep on Friday without nerves keeping you up, so I might give it a bit of a try.
Good idea! Already on it...ps.will be listening to "Eye of the tiger" for pump up purposes *fist bump*

I hear you...It's just I've already chickened out once/ voided an exam. I feel like I'm just afraid of actually taking it. I'm thinking of taking one even before I get my results for the one on saturday.
 
Well cant believe test is coming up.. I probably wont study at all tomorrow
Been proud of all of us for working so hard and keepin each other in check.
My AAMC average is a 35 and AAMC7-11 is a 36 so hopefully My score is within that range.

Still sitting at a 28 average...but I'm pretty confident. My lowest score was an outlier. We are all going to do great!

On AAMC 11, people were saying that it was calculation heavy. I thought that the equations needed were pretty simple- a lot of potential energy type stuff etc. I'm weakest in PS, and I honestly didn't think it was horrible. I also got a 9, but....

But you'll do well! PS is my weak point as well. I get lost in passages that are doing three titrations at the same time with 4 students etc. Those eat up my time.
 
Well this is it boys (and girls)...going to do some light review today, do a few verbal passages, review high-value facts, then spend the rest of the day at the beach. Already super nervous, but I'm hoping that small dose of klonopin in the morning does the trick. Good luck everyone!

edit: If I'm as anxious tomorrow as I am right now, I seriously feel for whoever has to sit next to me because I legit can't stop nervous farting.
 
Once more into the breach dear friends. Remember, tomorrow is just another day. I want to give you guys the same speech I gave the last time I took the MCAT, because I think it will help us build the eye of the tiger.
Let's not be scared about tomorrow guys. All in all, it is a test that means a lot, but if the right preparation was put in, it is only that: a test. We have made it this far through pre-med, where countless others have been weeded out by subjects that we master, other people have given up where we have persisted, and where class numbers have gotten smaller and smaller but we have still pursued and achieved excellence. To those of you who are retaking this test like I am, think of this test like Mr.T in the movie Rocky III; he may have gotten you down to your knees before, but this time around, you are going to use sheer determination and tactics to beat that fool down to his. And if you are taking this test for the first time, think of this test like Ivan Drago from Rocky IV. This test killed your best friend, you traveled thousands of miles and trained for many months to defend his honor. Yeah people may have said that you weren't strong enough, called you crazy and doubted you, but after all was said and done, you isolated yourself, suffered and persevered through harsh conditions just for the chance to show what you are made of, and in the end, you knock him out. And finally, for the people who feel discouraged, I offer to you one more Rocky reference. In Rocky Balboa (the new one,) there was a giant inspirational speech about perseverance through adversity and hard times. "It ain't about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward...that's how winning is done! Now if you know what you are worth then go out and get what you are worth, but you gotta be willing to take the hits..." After all, there is a reason you guys came back even if the MCAT did knock you on your butt before, you are extremely determined to fulfilling your destiny to become a physician, and this is just one more stepping stone to get there. For those of you who aren't the amazing people on SDN hitting 32+ on each AAMC practice (myself included), don't be ashamed of your weaknesses, that will only cause them to consume you. On physical sciences I was afraid of gases and titrations and those sort of topics, and optics and fluids for physics. I started off with getting consistent 7s on PS, and I at one time was embarrassed to say that but now I am not. A little while ago I figured out how to do much better for myself on PS, and what was a consistent 7 or 8 on PS I turned into consistent 10-12 (granted my verbal is all over the place, but that's something else entirely). BS is a similar story, I started off in 6s but now am hitting consistent 10s and 11s (maybe a 9 every once in a while) and I am not embarrassed about it even though it isn't as high as some people on here. We all took separate routes to get here, we live in all different corners of the country and are many different races and ages, but remember, we all share the same goal of becoming doctors one day, and even if it takes some of us more effort and more trials and tribulations and struggle than the other, we are all united by the same cause. Now let's hit this MCAT down to its knees.

Hey, just made an account to ask about how you guys go about pacing yourselves. I seem to be on the opposite end of the spectrum where I finish way too quickly. On AAMC 10 I don't know what happened, I finished each section with 20 minutes left and got an 8/10/8!! When I went back and looked over answers I saw that I made incredibly stupid mistakes. I know that I know the material, there was only 2 or 3 questions I actually had to look up how to do afterward. I took AAMC 11 without any timing, just went through and did each question one by one over the course of a few hours and got 14/11/12 for a 37. I actually did lower than my verbal average on this test because I work better on verbal when I go through it quickly, usually 12+. What are your suggestions for slowing down and not freaking out?

Also, love the forum, been lurking here for a while and I'm really impressed with a lot of your scores, you're all gonna do great!
 
quick question - will the real MCAT have that timer in the bottom of the screen like the practice AAMC's have?
 
Just to reiterate and reinforce, if you haven't been doing well on your practice tests, don't let it impact your performance on test day. Last year I got the highest of all my practice aamcs on the actual MCAT. Secondly, getting to this point was not easy. We all had some major ups and some devastating blows in our own individual journeys. Instead of giving up or becoming discouraged, we continued to get back up, and that is why we're here today. If you made it this far, you will make it to the end (count on it).
Lastly, its just one test, like many others we've taken before. We have absolutely nothing to lose, if it dosent go well, we can always void. If we kill it, it'll open so many doors. So lets go all out and kill this beast.

So I retook my lowest (AAMC 10) score today. Had a 4-point improvement. Went from a 24 (8 PS, 7 VR, 9 BS)->28 (8 PS, 10 VR, 10 BS). I was hoping for a little bit better, but I took it pretty quick and I honestly didn't remember many specifics in the passages. I think this shows my improvement though, ready to rock the same or higher on the test tomorrow!

lol same. I either rush through it with minutes to spare, or I take too much time and wind up having to rush before the time runs out. Maybe someone who actually scores super well could add their input, but I personally think I will try to allot about 7 mins per passage, and if I find I run over time, I'll plug in random answers just for the sake of not leaving them blank and move on. Chances are, there will be some passages afterwards that can be answered more quickly and confidently than others. I normally hate having to move on without fully working through each question, as it goes against what I'm used to, but I think for the MCAT, it winds up being the best strategy because I'd rather miss points on hard passages and put my effort into passages that I know are much easier, than to spend time on a hard passage that I'm not sure about and then have to rush through easier questions that I'm sure I could've gotten, had I just had more time to focus on them.

You my friend, are amazing. After being new here and reading all of the champions getting 32+...this is just what I needed to read the day before. Sending you lots of love 🙂 I hope you rock the exam tomorrow!

Anyone looking forward to getting back in shape? Let's just say many of my jeans seem to have shrunk over the past few months. :corny:
Haha yes! I haven't gained weight (stress has probably caused me to lose weight tbh), but my stamina has plummeted since I've stopped working out regularly.
 
I just received an automated phone call from my prometric test center that the exam is cancelled due to technical issues (Toronto-Canada). I also received an email that i will be able to reschedule at no charge. I don't know how legit it is and I think it might be an scam! Have anyone ever experienced the same issue? the email address is [email protected]
