Hey so I know a lot of us were posting on June MCAT'ers unite, but I want to get to know the progress of all of us 6/21'ers in particular. Let's do it.
Retake AAMC 10 or one of the later ones. I did this and got a 42. Really boosts the confidence. Idc if it's b/c I already knew the answers lolz.
Praying for a OChem heavy BS tbh , which is sad coming from someone with a degree in Bio (Unless it's mostly genetics/ molecular genetics or evolution/populations because those were the major focus of my most recent upper divisions).
So if I wanted to take another FL tomorrow to boost my confidence, which test should I take?
I wouldn't...take a day off! Go see a movie or run some errands. You're ready!
took all the aamc tests except 11 because i don't want to hurt my confidence. for those who did a GS tests (i.e. Saxappeal haha) how would you compare the amount calculations to aamc 11?
Hey guys! Just found this thread and created an account....obviously last minute freak out. I also didn't do 11 cause I know for a fact I will write again. Mostly cause this is the last year and I want to make sure I get the highest possible that I can manage.Wondering if I should do 11 tonight now that so many of you are recommending it to others...
Good idea! Already on it...ps.will be listening to "Eye of the tiger" for pump up purposes *fist bump*Also taking 11 tomorrow. I'll correct it on Thursday and maybe brush up on pure memorization with flashcards (like various rules and formulas. No major concepts). Friday, I plan to chill out and have lunch with some friends. I heard a tip about depriving yourself of some sleep on Thursday night so it's easier to fall asleep on Friday without nerves keeping you up, so I might give it a bit of a try.
I hear you...It's just I've already chickened out once/ voided an exam. I feel like I'm just afraid of actually taking it. I'm thinking of taking one even before I get my results for the one on saturday.you shouldn't take the mcat knowing that you will write it again. that's the single worst thing you could do in my opinion.
I also feel awful because I got 7/9/7 on AAMC 10...you shouldn't take the mcat knowing that you will write it again. that's the single worst thing you could do in my opinion.
I also feel awful because I got 7/9/7 on AAMC 10...
Exactly what I've been saying for the last 2 months haha!i'm so excited to get this exam over with and move on with my life!!
Exactly what I've been saying for the last 2 months haha!
Almost done guys! I'm just doing light review tonight and tomorrow, hopefully in bed by 8:30 or 9 tomorrow. Sitting on a 39 AAMC average so if I can come out with a 34 or 35 I will be delighted. Ready to have (somewhat of) a life again!
You too, man! Sure you're gonna do fine! That's a solid average. good luck man
But you'll do well! PS is my weak point as well. I get lost in passages that are doing three titrations at the same time with 4 students etc. Those eat up my time.Still sitting at a 28 average...but I'm pretty confident. My lowest score was an outlier. We are all going to do great!
On AAMC 11, people were saying that it was calculation heavy. I thought that the equations needed were pretty simple- a lot of potential energy type stuff etc. I'm weakest in PS, and I honestly didn't think it was horrible. I also got a 9, but....
quick question - will the real MCAT have that timer in the bottom of the screen like the practice AAMC's have?
Well this is it boys (and girls)...going to do some light review today, do a few verbal passages, review high-value facts, then spend the rest of the day at the beach. Already super nervous, but I'm hoping that small dose of klonopin in the morning does the trick. Good luck everyone!
edit: If I'm as anxious tomorrow as I am right now, I seriously feel for whoever has to sit next to me because I legit can't stop nervous farting.
I'm hoping this nervous farting today doesn't turn into something more serious during test time!
SHART ATTACK!!I'm hoping this nervous farting today doesn't turn into something more serious during test time!
Hey, just made an account to ask about how you guys go about pacing yourselves. I seem to be on the opposite end of the spectrum where I finish way too quickly.
better get on that peptobismol. lolI'm hoping this nervous farting today doesn't turn into something more serious during test time!
You my friend, are amazing. After being new here and reading all of the champions getting 32+...this is just what I needed to read the day before. Sending you lots of love 🙂 I hope you rock the exam tomorrow!Once more into the breach dear friends. Remember, tomorrow is just another day. I want to give you guys the same speech I gave the last time I took the MCAT, because I think it will help us build the eye of the tiger.
Let's not be scared about tomorrow guys. All in all, it is a test that means a lot, but if the right preparation was put in, it is only that: a test. We have made it this far through pre-med, where countless others have been weeded out by subjects that we master, other people have given up where we have persisted, and where class numbers have gotten smaller and smaller but we have still pursued and achieved excellence. To those of you who are retaking this test like I am, think of this test like Mr.T in the movie Rocky III; he may have gotten you down to your knees before, but this time around, you are going to use sheer determination and tactics to beat that fool down to his. And if you are taking this test for the first time, think of this test like Ivan Drago from Rocky IV. This test killed your best friend, you traveled thousands of miles and trained for many months to defend his honor. Yeah people may have said that you weren't strong enough, called you crazy and doubted you, but after all was said and done, you isolated yourself, suffered and persevered through harsh conditions just for the chance to show what you are made of, and in the end, you knock him out. And finally, for the people who feel discouraged, I offer to you one more Rocky reference. In Rocky Balboa (the new one,) there was a giant inspirational speech about perseverance through adversity and hard times. "It ain't about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward...that's how winning is done! Now if you know what you are worth then go out and get what you are worth, but you gotta be willing to take the hits..." After all, there is a reason you guys came back even if the MCAT did knock you on your butt before, you are extremely determined to fulfilling your destiny to become a physician, and this is just one more stepping stone to get there. For those of you who aren't the amazing people on SDN hitting 32+ on each AAMC practice (myself included), don't be ashamed of your weaknesses, that will only cause them to consume you. On physical sciences I was afraid of gases and titrations and those sort of topics, and optics and fluids for physics. I started off with getting consistent 7s on PS, and I at one time was embarrassed to say that but now I am not. A little while ago I figured out how to do much better for myself on PS, and what was a consistent 7 or 8 on PS I turned into consistent 10-12 (granted my verbal is all over the place, but that's something else entirely). BS is a similar story, I started off in 6s but now am hitting consistent 10s and 11s (maybe a 9 every once in a while) and I am not embarrassed about it even though it isn't as high as some people on here. We all took separate routes to get here, we live in all different corners of the country and are many different races and ages, but remember, we all share the same goal of becoming doctors one day, and even if it takes some of us more effort and more trials and tribulations and struggle than the other, we are all united by the same cause. Now let's hit this MCAT down to its knees.
Just to reiterate and reinforce, if you haven't been doing well on your practice tests, don't let it impact your performance on test day. Last year I got the highest of all my practice aamcs on the actual MCAT. Secondly, getting to this point was not easy. We all had some major ups and some devastating blows in our own individual journeys. Instead of giving up or becoming discouraged, we continued to get back up, and that is why we're here today. If you made it this far, you will make it to the end (count on it).
Lastly, its just one test, like many others we've taken before. We have absolutely nothing to lose, if it dosent go well, we can always void. If we kill it, it'll open so many doors. So lets go all out and kill this beast.
Haha yes! I haven't gained weight (stress has probably caused me to lose weight tbh), but my stamina has plummeted since I've stopped working out regularly.Anyone looking forward to getting back in shape? Let's just say many of my jeans seem to have shrunk over the past few months.![]()
