How many of those who interviewed at MOSDOH also interviewed at ASDOH?

That info was as of last Thursday... something may have changed since then, but they were potentially meeting Wed. I haven't had contact with him since.

I'm sure they'll start calling as soon as they have the initial list... We need the time to prepare, and they need the time to shake down the first 42 that will commit to coming.

Someone else asked if they said how they'd let us know - we were told we'd get a call either way, and I assume they'd at least email as well, probably snail mail too. But not til August for the snail mail. 🙂

just called them today... confirmed. decisions will be next week! 7 days and counting everybody...
 
Any mind sharing residency and if you're sitting on an acceptance elsewhere? Just curious.
 
just received a call this morning with an offer and have accepted!
 
Are they feeling pretty confident about starting? Are either of you applying again right now? I don't know why I'm following this so closely.

Congratulations to everyone who gets the call today! This little, new school who came in late to the cycle is going to end up producing some hot clinicians!
 
I too received the phone call this morning. Congratulations to us all. I cannot wait to meet all of you who will be my classmates for the next few years and I hope to become life-long friends. Fingers crossed to the rest hoping to hear from MOSDOH.
 
One caveat they did stress repeatedly...This is NOT an offer to dental school. These phone calls are meant as seat placement holders and are contingent upon the school receiving initial accreditation. I am not trying to burst anyone's balloon....I am just trying to "keep it real".
 
i didnt get a call but i called them, they said they're not done making calls yet. but im in 🙂!
 
Are they going to finish making calls today, or is it going to be during this week and next week like mentioned in previous posts? Anyone..?

Yes... even though August is a little late, I'd still be able to get everything in and off in time to be considered. In fact, I'm building the app, just not paying for submission. 🙂

Honestly, I have high confidence that MOSDOH will receive accreditation in early August. ATSU has a well established sister location in AZ which has been successful over the years. I have faith in Dean RADM Halliday and the staff to see this process through, it's probably more of a 'red tape' issue at this point. That being said, prior to receiving the call this week I was already in the re-application process, which would not take long to complete in the event of a worst case scenario.

Talked to admissions this morning. All top candidates have been called to her knowledge. They're meeting next week to rank alternates.

So does this mean the 42 seats have all been offered and those of us who haven't been accepted yet have to rely on someone to decline?

I just got my call yesterday too and "got in", do you guys still think theres a chance that maybe they will not be accredited?

I wouldn't worry about either. Sister school is killing it with specialty placement. As for accreditation, it was a paperwork thing last summer that delayed it. It's a slow process. Now it's just waiting on the calendar. The last ~10 or so schools to open in the last decade had no problems. I'd expect the same. How competitive is your application and has it improved enough this last year to let this go?

I'd be considering cost (including COL) and location (is living there going to cramp your style).

Well it depends on how much you liked Missouri and MOSDOH to put aside all mixed feelings to solidify your choice. Some people do not like beginning programs because of the lack of connections from prior alumni.
If you can maintain gpa in your masters program, you will have a good chance of going to a dental school that you desire more. Some of the applicants have no other choice...If you do good in your masters program, you will have more opportunities at other dental schools who will be more interested in you as an applicant. I guess it depends on your personal ambitions.
Congrats on your achievements so far ^^.
 
Got a call from the Dean yesterday about being the "preferred candidate" for the fall class. Everyone please say a prayer everyday that they get accredited!!!! I cannot wait to start dental school with brand new equipment!!!! 🙂 best wishes to all 🙂 : ) 🙂 🙂
 
Got a call today letting me know I was a "preferred candidate" Congrats on all the others who are getting in! MOSDOH seems to be a great school. I love the fresh view they have of everything! I am excited to start. They mentioned they are expecting to start Sept 25th.

I don't think there is. That's the ultimate commitment! That's probably what's holding up accreditation. Make it official!

he said it was a package so im assuming by mail? not 100% sure!
 
Does anyone know the exact date that the accreditation visit is? I remember them telling us on interview day but I forget...

It is my understanding that there are no more site visits scheduled for initial accreditation. The items discovered during their site visit, which occurred on March 5th and 6th, will be compiled into a report for the Commission to vote on. The Commission is meeting on August 8th and 9th to approve/deny the initial accreditation. I would assume we would know their decision no later than August 16th if not sooner. I hope this helps.

So, does MOSDOH has its initial accreditation and will it be taking in their preferred candidates this fall? Their website shows no updates. Just curious.
 
Initial accreditation is in August and yes we do start in the fall after being granted initial accreditation.
 
Question for those who were interviewed for this past cycle - are you in state or the surrounding states? Also, do you have A LOT of community service hours?

I'm personally in Florida and just wondering if they consider those from non-neighboring states. I could see myself at this school, but don't have any connections to the area.

I am not from a neighboring state and I don't have ties to Missouri whatsoever. It does seem as if most of the "preferred students" are from Missouri or neighboring states but there are a lot of people from non-neighboring states as well. I did not have a ridiculous amount of service hours but leadership and quality community service seems like what they're looking for. Read the school's mission statement to shape your personal statement/supplemental application.
