does anyone know if they are still making offers?
Ok, like UNE actually sends stuff after my posts. Wonder if any connection exists?
So here is the update, spoke to a lady from ME Dental society today. She said....
a. Class of 45 students (not 48) was filled.
b. Vice dean was giving a tour of Yankee Dental Congress (Boston Dental exhibition center) to future studs.
On convention floor I could not catch the vice dean today (this Saturday), had a ****load of CE credits to do.
Ummm, after thoughts, well if they would have a class of 48 then the last 3 individuals were not named, or simply they downsized to 45 seats for 1st year because of equipment issues. I would post on UNE facebook page, because those in contact with vice or dean would know.
Also, my interview experiences, I was present at the very first interview held, because of early application. Honestly, they have a psychological pressure way of interview, where one asks a questions and the other writes a response. ( I have worked with verbally abusive dental managers/dentists for many years, I see what they do! )
Reasons I am glad I did not get accepted,
1. Some of the applicants that got in, acted like total jerks (acted inappropriately), seriously, and like the one above who mentioned some ones mother coming in for interview. What is your problem, who cares? I stand by my words. I would not want to be apart of student body who are so competitive, that they have to degrade others to feel good about themselves.
2. I am a mellow guy and I understand that during 1st year, some of the lecturers are simply not going to be dentists, thus some people drafted from their DO program (inside source from ME dental society). The entire curriculum is going to be changed without notice, perhaps multiple times. Feel bad for the students, until stable curriculum is organized.
3. The practice has just started, and two things can happen, a lot of medicaid/care patients rush in (with no insurance), for reduced fee for services during first 4 years and then it mellows down. This school good or bad would need to build extremely good reputation, god help the patients (that might not come at all during first year) and the staff. Low patient base leads to less opportunity during first year 3 of dental school. Say you study basic sciences 1st year, 2nd year work on each other, 3rd year start working on patients. Also 4th year, beginning of good and bad satalight clinics would mean, students would work "blind" in trusted dentists clinics in their crucial year before the boards. I just hope the studs get to rotate a lot, and how can you build good cases or go through multiple phases of treatment with continuous rotation? Ideal way is to stay at a place for at least 2-3 months. Assuming your tufts/bu patients dont swallow some of your primary outreach clinic base patients already.
4. Interview... a show and tell? or a shouting match ( if you shout your name and act socially, and act like you care you get a call from someone, simple as that, I swear)? Was so unreal! This stupid question, if the 16 year old is pregnant and parents dont know, would you treat her for tooth ache? Would you tell the parents? Assuming you are conservative over the top, and you have a archive of the dental records probably since 6 years to 16, annual biteweing and some periapicals and no FMS, thats still enough information to not even be obligated to render additional radiation exposure, never mind the ginigival problems a 16 year old still has during 2nd trimester. After 1st trimester you could double shield and expose the pictures, but who cares? The rarity of angioma or some other lifetaking quick neoplastic lesion is so rare (pop to say hello, and go down below), that it would at least show up in previous findings. Then again you take your pa during 2nd trimester, and see NOTHING. What pissed me off is that, this question. "But the parents dont know, do you tell them?" Like a troll, looking for Scandinavian lightning? How many parents dont know their child is pregnant at 2nd trimester? NONE, OF COURSE THEY KNOW, SHES PREGNANT. AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL, BECAUSE OF PRIVACY LAWS, SHE IS 16. Still being ever vigilant and running all diagnostics that you need to come up with diagnosis is very important.
I am not gonna parade this institution any more, so this is the update... Probably a very good place, to start!
