***The Official NYU Class of 2018 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

I just called again and the woman said the email system was going out slowly and they are going in alphabetical order

for those that got in already, mind sharing what letter your last name starts with?

Those who got accepted, can you post your Gpa and Dat scores please. Thanks!

I feel like Im not accepted. Still waiting for an email

doesnt look like its alphabetical... rya jones-- is jones your last name?

scored a spot on the waitlist. somebody didn't like my jokes...

Just got a waitlist email. Pretty bummed but congrats to everyone else that got accepted.

Got an acceptance Email at 3:08.
GPA: overall 3.34, science 3.25
DAT: 23AA 24TS 23PAT

Expected the wait list since I was wait listed at my state school!

I finally got accepted and received the email at 3:43pm. Last name starts with A, so I was pretty early.

For those of you that are wait listed or rejected...hang in there. This was my third time applying and was rejected first time, wait listed second, and now accepted. Keep on trying and keeping on improving your application every year. They DO look at improvement.

Best of luck to all!

Got email around 4 p. m. EST. Last name starts with G. Accepted. Pls don't give up guys, i m a third time applicant as well, wait listed for the past 2 cycles. Finally got my acceptance this year. Also i remember Dr. Mejia said at the interview that if you really want to go to NYU, make sure you call her n email her, express your interest to her. She will go the extra mile for you if you have your heart set on NYU.

Wait listed... kind of surprised since the interviewer said my application is amazing...
Oh well, I got into Maryland! 🙂

Just got accepted. I'm a third time applicant. Rejected the first year, waitlisted the second.

DAT: 20AA, 21TS, 22 PAT, 17RC, 19QA, 19OC, 24GC, 20BIO

My GPA is low but has an upward trend. (it took me 7 years to finish since I failed a lot of classes in the beginning and had to repeat them)

Undergrad Overall Average: science 2.7, non-science 2.9
Years 1-2: GPA - 1.65 (dismissed from university due to low GPA)
Years 3-4: GPA - 2.34
(Then I took a semester off here to work as a patient transporter at a hospital)
Year 5: GPA - 3.65
Years 6-7: GPA - 3.5ish

Then I did a one-year M.S. in Medical Sciences at USF College of Medicine in Tampa (I highly recommend these programs if you need to pull up your GPA like I did). Here I got a 4.0 GPA

After making a 4.0 in grad school my science GPA rose to a 2.95

Lastly, what helped my application was doing research for a few months. I ended up being co-author on a publication, which I believe helps a lot.

Congrats to everyone accepted. Some of you that were waitlisted in the past, how does the list work? I wasn't too bummed at first, I'd think a school of this size would see a lot of movement in their waitlist, unless of course, it's just a synonym for a soft rejection.

is her email on the website? Would you say it would make any difference for those of us who haven't gotten an interview invite yet?

I was waitlisted too. Is that a soft rejection or it is fairly doable to get in off the waitlist?

Yes, you can try calling her but i think it d be hard to get a hold of her. I think it wouldn't hurt. I know people who got wait-listed last year and they kept in touch with her through email or phone calls at least once or twice a week and they eventually got in. I mean every school is different, some schools think of it as too aggressive but NYU seems to think of it otherwise, they think it shows your dedication and your interest in their school.

It's def going to be doable. Think about it - NYU is expensive so if people are accepted to multiple places, those conscience of price will likely choose somewhere else. And it's a shame really, because NYU is so awesome, but it's just the cost of living that's crazy. But if I were you I wouldn't sweat it at this point. You'll likely hear something after the new year because that's when deposits are due. :luck:

Waitlistees for pre-Dec interviewers could expect to be offered a spot as early as...?

Those of you who were waitlisted, don't despair. I was on the waitlist too and got accepted in mid-May finally.

Make sure that you check in with Dr. Mejia every few weeks and just let her know that you are still very much interested in attending.

Again, congratulations to everyone who has received an acceptance, and good luck to those of you wait listed! 🙂

just out of curiosity...does anyone know what GPA must be maintained during our final year??

does NYU have a lot of movement in the wait list?

OMG I got in! I have goosebumps and chills from excitement! I'm in shock! I got my email around 3:30 and my last name starts with A

Got wait listed 🤔
My stats are 22AA, 25TS, 24Bio, 29GC, 23OC, 19 PAT, 15 QR
GPA 3.1
In a masters program taking dental courses right now

I received 2 acceptance emails from NYU.. one at 3:10 pm and the other at 9:15 pm central time. Did anyone else get 2 emails from them?

REJECTED from NYU! Just received the email. No interview! Submitted my app back in July. They took their time. Haha.

Im super surprised, I just got the same email. I have a cGPA of 3.85 and 20's on the aDAT, but im OOS. Any thoughts as to why?

I got two Waitlist emails, about 5 hours apart. I was so excited when I saw a second email from NYU I thought maybe...just maybe they made a mistake and I got in. Nope instead I was reaffirmed of my waitlist status...a disappointing end to a disappointing day.

No idea why. We're probably just not NYU material. 😛
