***The Official NYU Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Is there even a chance that waitlisted turns into accepted

They told me that if it's your top school and you were waitlisted to call them or write them or at least let them know that you're very interested. Hopefully that helps!

Waitlisted as well. Are most of the people that were accepted all live near New York? During my interview, there was only two students that were far from New York.

They said by 12 tonight. They did interview today. Maybe they tried to pick a few from today's batch
I hope so HAHA..I happened to be one of three who interviewed for 45 min..the other 12 interviewed for 10-15 min lol

During my interview, half the students there (including me) were from Long Island lol.

Accepted as well. Congrats to all!

I interviewed today and they (adcom representatives, my interviewer Richard, dental students) said that if you email NYU or call Dr. Mejia like every week to express your interest and tell them how bad you really want to attend NYU, then Dr. Mejia will take you off the waitlist and accept you. They all said she's super generous and will accept you like within the week of your email/call. The admissions ambassadors (D3s) told us that some students were accepted the day before orientation and that students would express their interest and later decide not to attend.

Basically, Waitlist = Acceptance

I got accepted, and I'm from Canada. I did write a letter of interest to both the faculty interviewer and Eugenia Meijia a few days after my interview though, because I was worried that my distance might be a factor working against me.

Scholarship information comes through email in like ~3-4 days. Is this correct?

I asked that question at my interview today. The lady in the Q/A said that need-based and merit-based scholarships don't come with the acceptance package. They come in the months that follow. For me, I'm looking at a potential acceptance within two weeks and scholarship post-January

EDIT: they said 30% of the class would receive some kind of scholarship.
The need-based scholarship would be based off of whether you got Pell grants while in undergrad.

Accepted!! where my nyc people at??
lets party it up!!

Has anyone got a phone call from dr mejia? I got a missed call after I received the email!!! Anyone?

i think someone said that last year too but emails went out a week or two later.

I guess it might be different for everyone, but scholarship distribution that early after acceptance is great news.

Waitlist. Well this sucks. Hoping to get off this list soon!

Congrats to those who are in!!!!!

To those of you who were accepted, CONGRATULATIONS!

To those of you who were waitlisted, don't despair. Continue showing interest. Give Dr. Mejia a call or send an email tomorrow thanking her for the opportunity to interview and tell her how much you want to attend NYU, ask about what you can do to improve and possibly get off the waitlist. It'll happen. Waitlist moves so much over the coming 6 months or so. I was waitlisted and wound up getting a phone call in mid-May offering me a seat. There are people who got in off the waitlist in August like two weeks before orientation. Don't give up! 🙂

Did anyone get a rejection after an interview or do everyone get on the waitlist if you are not accepted?

Thanks for the hope! Do you know when the waitlist starts moving? Does it move this week lol. Jk, I'm assuming it'll move in a few weeks and more after the first deposit is due.

10% at my interview

Received a rejection this morning...interviewed there last year and was waitlisted...stats and both observation and volunteer hours have only gone up since the interview so I am kind of confused..oh well, doesnt seem like it was financially feasible for me to attend there anyways...good luck to everyone else!

Have you interviewed this year?

Does anyone know how late NYU interviews until?

Do they send this to all the people that are waitlisted?

"Your academic record and personal interview with our faculty has met with positive results. Yet, due to the high number of competitive applications received this year, the Admissions Committee has placed you on the waitlist for the 2016 academic year."

When do they send out the next set of interview invites?
I called today and she said its on rolling basis so there is no particular dates but they review every 2 weeks. Not 100% sure but she referred to it.
