I read this (Please, please, please don't go to NYU) and now I dont think i should go to NYU. This is the only school i have been accepted to so far, and now I dont think it's worth it. What should I do? Please help me out.

FailureAtLife1:
You need to decide if you want to be a dentist at all costs. If the price tag does not deter you then go for it. Otherwise think twice. My Mom has BSc in biochemistry and makes $150k/y in a pharmaceutical company, and she says if you do Masters you can easily get a good job earning over$100K/year. My brother has Masters in pharmaceutical chem and makes close to $100K/year in his second year in a big pharma drug promotion sector ( has all benefits, perks like yearly conference trip to Bahamas, pension plan etc...) . You research what you want to be, calculate how much you pay for that education and how much you going to earn and how long it will take you to repay over $500K working very, very hard.

This is so true! Studying 4 more years and ending up with a huge loan to repay when you could be earning and investing. What do you want to be? What is your passion? I made my decision when I was writing my personal statement

No doubt NYU is expensive, but that post specifically seems to pick on NYU and fails to mention the other ridiculously expensive schools (>60k a year) (Penn, Columbia, Tufts, BU, USC, UoP, etc). These schools also reside in cities where cost of living + tuition is high and students accrue high amounts of debt.
So while NYU is very expensive, so are other city schools. Bottom line is that not everyone has a state school to fall back on, and most schools (on average) are expensive for OOS applicants. Don't be discouraged by your only acceptance to a top tier, world renowned, school.

Based on what I remember last year, I want to say the first deposit is either $3000 or $3500, not 100% though. Just call and ask if you’re super curious I doubt they’d mind

Waitlisted 🙁. What is the chance to get accepted from the waitlist??
From previous years statistics NYU shows: 332 IS interviews -> 232 offers, 817 OOS interviews -> 438 offers, and 173 International interviews -> 107 offers. Essentially offering a total of 777 seats to a total of 1322 interviewees. Your chances are quite decent I would say.

Has anyone gotten denied after an interview or do they waitlist everyone that doesn’t get accepted?

I feel like schools rarely reject someone after an interview. It’s always safer for them to keep the waitlist as big as possible to ensure their class gets filled... especially for a school like NYU with such a large class size

I'd like them to update my status or give me my supplemental fee back.
NYU doesn't use the ADEA portal for updates (And several other schools). If you want to know where your application stands, you can call them. I don't remember if they send an application complete email.

Just received an interview invitation!! For those who have already interviewed, can you give me any info on how it went? Thanks!

Did you do anything else other than academic update? Did you send them the statement of intent by any chance to get an interview?

Other than the academic update, I also sent them a letter of intent, I emailed and called them a couple of times asking questions, and attended their online webinar for prospective students. I heard the admissions committee takes note when you show interest so I made sure to express it a decent amount. Good luck!

It is actually quite relaxed-have some sincere reasons why NYU is the school for you and why it is a school you would thrive at. Short 10-30 minute interview depending on who you get.
