***The Official NYU College of Dentistry C/O 2024 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

I got an interview on Tues and I just declined it! NYU is a great school, but I don’t have the finances to go to NY! I hope one you you guys get it!! From what I see on the portal there are several dates that are still available in the last two weeks of Feb and I’m pretty sure they interview up to at least the month of March so hold on 🙂

Anybody that was previously stuck on "complete and under review" have any tips to get out of this situation? I really want to attend NYU but I'm stuck lol

For those who submitted an application in October, November, or December via AADSAS, how soon did you all hear back regarding an interview invite?

I would email admissions expressing your interest in their school. I sent them a LOI and received an interview invite a couple days later.

My app was complete beginning of October and received an interview invite mid-December

Hey guys!

For those accepted, does your "check status" on AADSAS still say "None"? Did anyone's change to Accepted or anything?
When I submitted my app, I received an email from NYU stating they don't post updates to AADSAS. They use their portal only. It still says "none" for me.

Does anyone know what makes nyu unique when compared to other dental schools

Does anyone know if they are still giving out scholarships? Got an interview invite but I know i wouldnt be able to afford it without a scholarship..

I was awarded one recently.. You should express alot of interest about it during your interview. Maybe send the admissions office an email and cc Dr. Mejia. I think it's a combo of merit and need based.

This might be a silly question, but how do you show interest in the scholarships besides asking if they award any during the interview? I've never gotten the chance to discuss scholarship awards in an interview before so I dont want to come across the wrong way!

There's nothing wrong with asking about scholarships when they ask you if you have any questions for them at the end of the interview. Also, after I got my acceptance letter (with no scholarship offer), I emailed my interviewer and asked her if I would be receiving a scholarship. I expressed that NYU was a dream school for me but the price was tricky. I then received a call to discuss what other schools I was looking at and I told them that while I preffered NYU, the other school was alot more affordable. A week later I was offered a scholarship through email. So don't worry too much about coming off the wrong way, if the rest of your interview goes well I think expressing interest in a scholarship can only help you.

Thank you! This is really helpful!

When did you send it? Did you get an interview invite after sending it?

I sent an LOI towards the end of january and received an interview invite a few days later. I sent my letter via email to the NYU admissions committee and they noted it down in my file but also informed me that the LOI could be uploaded onto their portal as well.

Also, according to last years thread, the interview invites ran well into march.

thank you for that info! Do you mind sharing your sats?

Just curious since we are talking about the scholarship, do you think this can also apply to oos/ international / Canadian applicants who want to enroll in NYUCD but it's harder for us to get a loan and such? Did any OOS/ International/ Canadian applicants in this thread receive a scholarship to NYUCD by any chance? Thanks.

I just noticed that when you go into the application portal and try to upload something to your file, in the dropdown menu there is one that says "Personal Statement". Were we supposed to upload our statement on their portal not just on AADSAS?

No, they still are able to read your personal statement from the application

Thanks , I actually interviewed last Thursday
Hey Hazzezzy, congrats on your acceptance~ I have my interview next week and was wondering if you can share your interview experience for NYU? And may I ask what kind of questions you talked about with your interviewer? Thanks~

Thank you, The interview was interesting because it was broken into two interviews. The first one is with a faculty member and it seemed as though they had conducted the interview with ur application open, just asking things about why dentistry and unique things about ur application/experiences. The second interview was with someone in admissions and that one felt more conversational/laid back. After that it’s a small q/a with students and then they take you on a tour. You then get a free lunch and you’re done around 1
