I am not sure. Just wanted to get an idea where they were from because one of the questions on the waitlist forms asks about having any logistic difficulties if you were to be accepted late in the cycle.is being an NY resident an advantage?
I am a florida residentJust wondering, are you a NY resident?
Awesome! Congratulations on the acceptance! Was there anything you think that helped you get off the waitlist? I interviewed on 1/31 and am still waiting to hear back.I am a florida resident

If you're from NY, NJ, CA, or Florida, your chances are great. Otherwise, OOS from other states fill up like 20% of the 375 seats available.Yes especially if you have lower stats.
Nearly half the class is in-state

Hello everyone,
I have been following this thread for a while. I am a current D1 from California at NYU. I must advise if you had the chance to attend another school. This school has really been falling downhill. The curriculum has gotten extremely difficult and a lot of people have to retake.
To add to this, the administration and faculty are NO help and basically laugh at us for wanting more guidance. Please, I do this to help you guys, if you have an opportunity to attend another dental school, I would do so.
Not to mention how many loans I have to take as of this year. 🙁
Best of luck
the price was not really the issue for me in the beginning because I thought that NYU would be amazing and such a great opportunity. But I really do not like this school much. It seems to be all about money.Thank you for the advice but can i ask why did you choose NYU knowing the price

The curriculum has really changed due to the new Boards. I would think twice before going here
More like 10% but otherwise there really aren't that many available seats for OOS students from every state except the ones mentioned above.yeah and like almost 15% international?
do you know why those states specifically?More like 10% but otherwise there really aren't that many available seats for OOS students from every state except the ones mentioned above.
Maybe it’s just about more applications coming from those states being the reason they take up most of the seats. Rather than them prefering someone who lives in Florida over someone from Nebraska, for example. Florida and California have huge populations and it would make sense that NY and NJ students would apply close to home.do you know why those states specifically?
How much was the scholarship offer? I would think If I got a scholarship then if would make my decision easierI just rejected my spot and scholarship offer from this school. I hope it goes to somebody that needs it.
Mainly because of cost. In terms of the actual school, I have heard great things from alumni. A close family friend of mine graduated 2 years ago and she said she had an amazing experience. Its pretty much what you make out of it. Everyone is different and everyone will have a different experience. If money isn’t an issue for you, living in manhattan and attending a top dental school for 4 years is definitely a dream.why does NYU get so much hate 🙁 i hope this isnt true. This school was/is my first choice but now I am getting very skeptical
When I asked my family friend why she chose NYU over other programs she got accepted to, this was her response:Mainly because of cost. I believe until March they interview. what are your stats if you dont mind me asking?do you guys think they will be giving out more interviews?...
Hey! I just sent you a private messageI am sure everybody has a different experience at dental school, but I was just giving my input to the changed curriculum and my thoughts and experience on the administration and how everything is handled there from my point of view. I personally, would not advise to attend if presented with an alternative school

Current D1 at NYU, just finished the Summer "semester" a week ago. Started Bench lab this past week and soon Anatomy lab this upcoming week.
Weird coming here when it felt like yesterday when I was in your shoes. Time flies my friends. My best advice while you wait for interviews, or go on interviews and then wait to start school - stay active. Get a job, do something to keep your mind off of things. This is a very stressful time and you will only do more harm to yourself if you sit around refreshing your email or SDN waiting to hear something about anything.
Can't do much seeing how I've only been here for a little over 2 months but if anyone has questions, I'll try to reply as soon as I can.
Probably not. But definitely sooner the better. I applied in July of last year and received most of my interviews in August. I didn't hear from NYU until late November. Chose to interview after Dec 1 and heard back a few days later with an acceptance.
is this your first choice for dental school?it is pretty low.
3.3 GPA, 3.2 sGPA, 21 DAT
But I have research experience, TA experience, 300 hours of dental shadowing, various volunteering hours, and currently working in a dental lab as a dental technician.
Got an interview invite yesterday-- signed up for February 21st! Any tips?

Hi, what was your GPA if you don't mind me asking. My AA is 19 as well and I am still waiting for an interview.I actually just interviewed on the 21st, my stats were similar to yours but my AA was 19. So I think you have a shot! Just really reach out and show them you are interested, they really care about that.
Nothing yet!! They said it takes about 2 weeks so I feel like we should hear back in the next week or so hopefully!Ooo I was at that interview too!! Have you heard anything back yet? I still haven't anything yet. Wondering if anyone from our interview date got a response yet.
