I never thought that they interview international applicants! I love Oregon and OHSU's new facilities, so I truly hope that I will be accepted! Please!
Hi Blapo! If you don't mind, could you share your interview experience?
Mine was a bit unique as the school was cancelled due to snow so our normal schedule was changed up quite a bit. However, the process was very stress-free. It consists of two 20-30 minute interviews with different faculty. They are very conversational and nice. I didn't get any hard or weird questions during my interviews, just the basic ones you could expect. You may also get the opportunity to sit in on a clinic and lecture, however, I did not get that opportunity. The school is very up front and honest with you about their curriculum and I was very impressed with the program, even with its recent changes to the curriculum.
You can look at the adea book for the rate. Not sure what it is off the top of my head. I grew up in Oregon so I love the weather, even rain. It was just funny because it only snows in Portland like once every 3 years or so and it happened to be on my interview day. Thanks for your quick response! Did they mention the interview/acceptance rate? BTW, you might be disappointed by the weather, but the Oregonian spring and summer is the best!
They have committee discussion on Wednesday of every week. Hence, that is why they don't do interview on Wednesday.
What application? The SHOI one?Hey guys! Just curious, how many of you received the application for the full ride scholarship? Is that something everyone gets? Any information on that scholarship would be appreciated!
Yeah, I guess that's what it's called. What do you guys know about it? I'm out of state and not sure if I should apply. Thank you!!What application? The SHOI one?
I asked them about it during my interview and they told me they give priority to Oregon residents, but if their Oregon applicants are "lacking" they'll look out of state as wellYeah, I guess that's what it's called. What do you guys know about it? I'm out of state and not sure if I should apply. Thank you!!
Personally, if you are out of state I think it's a waste of time. No oos has ever been awarded the SHOI scholarship.I asked them about it during my interview and they told me they give priority to Oregon residents, but if their Oregon applicants are "lacking" they'll look out of state as well
Dont stress too much about it. It's mostly just getting your information!!To those who were accepted: How much time did you put into your supplemental application?
It seems pretty light and I just was invited to interview and I scheduled it for Monday and will spend most of the weekend getting to Portland... I'm OOS.
Mr. @karanja has kindly put the info a few posts above so if you want, check that out.Yeah, I guess that's what it's called. What do you guys know about it? I'm out of state and not sure if I should apply. Thank you!!
I applied for SHOI well before the priority deadline, and also well before I received an interview invite, but I've already withdrawn my application in light of my UW acceptance.I'm not sure why they sent me an invite to apply for the scholarship then... I got an interview invite as well. I'd be jumping for joy right now but I have to call and decline. If only they had contacted me sooner. I got into UW and also their version of SHOI and I'm also a WA resident. The only kicker is UW doesn't pay for your tuition like OR does. What do you guys think, is there a chance I could get the scholarship in OR? I really want to interview but I also don't want to waste their time 🙂
Thanks for the detailed information!! I'm done entertaining this idea. It was great while it lasted. I really couldn't stay in OR and UW is my 1st choice (I've already accepted there). I just thought before I let this one go, I need to turn over every stone, so to speak 🙂 Thanks again!I applied for SHOI well before the priority deadline, and also well before I received an interview invite, but I've already withdrawn my application in light of my UW acceptance.
Anyway, the e-mails OHSU SoD sends with your interview invite are automated, so everyone gets them. Here's the gist:
1. SHOI is exclusively for Oregon residents (you must be admitted as an Oregon resident).
2. The priority deadline was December 1st, 2015.
3. You must give Oregon/OHSU back 5 years (one year longer than the number of years you receive funding) of service in an underserved area of Oregon.
If OOS applicants are truly considered for SHOI, you may have a long shot at receiving it, but as you pointed out, it's pretty late in the game. Perhaps if the SHOI applicant pool is insufficient, you might have a better chance.
The official 2016 SHOI brochure can be viewed here: http://www.ohsu.edu/xd/education/st...id/upload/Final-2016-17-SHOI-Brochure-2-0.pdf

Congrats. Unfortunately, I didn't apply here but could you please share your stats and mail out date.Hi everyone!
I received an invite for an interview yesterday ( OOS CA) which is exciting! Based on what I have read on this thread, it seems that most people were interviewed and accepted shortly after...so there isn't really a wait list or people being rejected after they interview?? And thanks for the tips on the interview format!
Ok, thanks for the info! I'm still deciding if I will interview or not. There is a WL however they won't send rejections until April May. I know a lot of people who are still waiting to hear back after their interview ( mostly in-state applicants)
At some point during the interview (I dont remember when), we were given a piece of paper with the essay question and we just write our answer in it. Everyone gets a different question so just be prepare to answer any kind of questions. You'll be fine!!!Hey everyone, I have an interview to OHSU upcoming and wanted someone to clarify if there is a essay portion prior to the interview? Trying to prepare myself the best!! Thanks everyone and Congrats to those who are accepted to their schools and Continue to pray for those still waiting for good news! Cheers :]

I just printed it out and hand written it. I didnt put anything in the supplemental optional anyway, so there wasnt much writing. All of the people in my interview group hand wrote theirs too. Thanks for the quick reply!! 🙂
Also just wanted to ask about the Supp info they sent out....It's on PDF and I'm not sure if the Short Answer section is supposed to be hand written? I'd appreciate it if anyone can share a method to write onto the pdf through a computer! 🙂

I believe OHSU is known to be really quick at making admissions decisions. I was accepted the day after my interview. Who knows, there is a chance that they are behind though. They also mentioned in my interview that if anyone is waitlisted they might not hear back until spring or summer if a position opens up. Don't give up hope if you haven't heard anything yet.I interviewed on 2/1 and have not heard anything since. Does this mean I'm most likely not going to get an acceptance or are they just slow at their admissions process?
Are you in State or OO?. They usually send out acceptance on the day of or the following Tuesday. Usually 3 days after interview seems like what is happen on this forum and past years...I interviewed on 2/1 and have not heard anything since.
