I finally got the app complete email too!

In regards to proof of hours...I asked them about this a couple months ago, and they said that as long as the name of the dentist on your LOR matches the hours your reported on your AADSAS app, it will fulfill their requirements for proof

Expect some movement starting in October. We have white coat ceremony this coming saturday.

This was mentioned about a month ago, but I just got the Application Incomplete email -- "General Dentist Letter of Evaluation Providing Proof of 40 hours of Shadowing Received: No"

My issue is this: an endodontist -- who has practiced general dentistry for over ten years and still works at a general dentist practice -- wrote my letter of evaluation. I spent less than 40hrs with him. I have many more than 40 total hours shadowing, mostly from general dentists, but none with whom I individually documented more than 35hrs (in my AADSAS application).

Will I need an entirely new letter from a general dentist?

Or can I request that general dentists from my AADSAS professional experience submit emails providing proof of >40hrs shadowing?

Thanks! I've already emailed Tufts and I'll call early tomorrow, but wanted to check what others have experienced.

My AADSAS LOE is also from a specialist. When I called Tufts a few months ago, they told me it would be okay to have my general dentist (snail) mail in a letter of rec to the office of admissions providing proof of shadowing. I recently emailed them to check if they had received it, and am waiting for a response. But it'd be good to know if they allow email submissions as well.
 
I am so anxious to hear back from this school! Hopefully they start inviting for interviews this week!

Just got off the phone - they said I should have a general dentist (or general dentists) submit a snail mail letter that provides proof of 40 hrs -- but its at my discretion to make that letter a simple statement of proof or full evaluation.

So I think I'm just going to go to the offices of one or more dentists and drop off a stamped envelope and provide Tufts address and ask them to send a short message with proof of hours. I really don't want to wait for another evaluation.

That's basically what I did too! In my AADSAS application, I used a pediatric dentist as a recommender. But after receiving the "application incomplete" e-mail from Tufts, I asked the general dentist I currently shadow to write a letter of recommendation on my behalf to Tufts. After all was said and done, it took about 2 weeks from the time the letter was sent for me to receive an "application complete" e-mail from Tufts. Good Luck!

Thanks for the help beachbum and toothshine. I've been anticipating this, but wanted to wait until I got the incomplete message before doing anything b/c I didn't want to bring attention to the fact that a specialist wrote my LOE. I also printed my AADSAS ID (along w/ stamp + delivery address) on the envelopes I gave to the dentists -- hopefully to make processing easier -- esp. considering it appears interview invites are approaching.

Is there a secondary application for tufts?
 
Is it too late to apply to tufts in October?

It was just a second payment and it also does feel like that was a long time ago when I sent it lol. We should begin to hear things by mid october

LOL yeah, application process felt like it would never end yet now seems like it was a blur.

I just realize it's October 2nd! Hope to see this thread get really active soon :3

Hey guys, Tufts sent me an application incomplete email as well due to not having a letter from a general dentist (a specialist sent mine in). But then a couple weeks later on AADSAS they changed my status to "Received/Application Complete" out of nowhere (my general dentist LOR still has not been sent to them). Has this happened with anyone else?

This has happened to a lot of us. Check my posts above. I called the school and as others suggested on here, the general dentist(s) will need to snail mail 40+ hrs of proof. I had 2 general dentists send letters and I just dropped off the envelope with the Tufts address at their offices. [I had an endodontist write my LOR].
 
Anyone got an interview today? According to tufts Facebook page they are sending interview invites
 
On their website it states late October invitations will be extended and interviews will be conducted beginning November... Not sure which is true!

I got one this morning from Tufts. Very informative, which is nice, and you get 3 dates to pick from. Mine are Nov 3, 4, and 10. Kinda harsh though, they said if you cannot make those dates and/or you do not respond within 2 days of the email, you will be removed from candidacy.

Buzzkill - getting the app incomplete email just last week :(
 
My status on AADSAS changed from application complete to under review on October 2nd. Did this happen to anyone else?

Yeah my letters of proof were mailed last Thurs/Fri, so was hoping to get em to Tufts before they started interviews, but my status is still "Waiting add'l info" -- someone on here told me it took approx 2 weeks for status to change from incomplete after letters sent.
 
My status still reads "Complete". I guess that's not a bad thing but hopefully by not changing to "under review" that doesn't mean I won't be invited...For anyone who has been invited, what did you status say prior to you being notified?

Mine changed from application complete to received/under review on October 6th. I have not been invited for an interview at this point.
 
does anyone know roughly how many interview invites they send out each round?
 
I got an invite for an interview last Tuesday 10/7 as well. My AADSAS status was "Received/Under Review" to "Invited for interview." 7th Batch applicant.

This school is absolutely beautiful. I had the chance to swing by while in Boston and was extremely impressed with the facility. They have student lounges and the building itself is 15 floors. Hoping for an interview invite soon!

Does anyone know if Tufts will accept a Physical Chem or Physical Biochem class in place of one physics (mechanics) course? I used AP credit at my school to place out of mechanics and will take the remaining general physics offered. But I just wanted to know since they don't accept AP credit.

I got 5 dates to choose from for mine in November. They said not to schedule flights before 5:30, think a 5pm flight would be to risky? There's no scheduled flights from Logan after 5 on my interview day

I think my flight is scheduled for 5:30 pm. I mean, it may be a little stressful but the airport is only 20-30 minutes from Tufts (depending on traffic). If that is our only option I'd probably say book it.
 
SDN might not be representative of this, but it doesn't seem like many interviews have been sent out yet. Does everyone's AADSAS portal say "Received/Application Complete"?

I agree, and yes mine does... I think SDN is quiet overall.. eerie
 
My portal went from Complete, to Under Review, to Invited for Interview the day after I got mine via email (about a week ago). Hope this helps. As for the flight questions, I have taken a cab from an area nearby to the airport around that time and it took me 30 minutes (but I would give yourself at least an hour to get there). Maybe you could not check luggage to help save time? Excited to interview here in November! :)

did everyone who received an interview invite have one letter from a Biochemistry, Chemistry, Math or Physics professor? i submitted two letters both from biology professors. do i still have a chance at getting an interview invite?

I had the letters you listed. (1 Orgo and 2 UL Bio). Maybe check with them that you have what you need?

I'm sure you still have a chance. I'd call them to ask, maybe? Did you get the application complete e-mail?
