****The Official Tufts University Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread****

I just gave up my spot, folks. Very tough thing to do. It was my favorite school right near home, but it's much too expensive for me. Good luck to all.

for the wait list deposit... are we going to receive an email with the details or they will send a wait list packet by mail or what?

I'm pretty sure that they will send you a letter in the mail. But they said that they would recommend sending in the money before it gets to you because it may take awhile. Also, remember they don't take personal checks and they prefer money orders.

Congrats on any and all acceptances.

Anyone interested in looking for apartments? Hoping to find a solid group of guys to share a house with in JP, Sommervile, or Medford. PM if you are interested.

Hi SKN42, I see your profile says you are pre-med but I just wanted to point out that this is the pre-dental forum. Hope that helps! 🙂

Thank you! I received the wait list packet and the payment has to be either money order or certified check

Yes. Sucked to give away the 1500 bucks. But at the time, I was on the wait list at SUNY Buffalo, which is where I'm now going to attend.

Just so you know, you'll get $300 of that deposit back since you gave up your seat before July. It says so in one of the forms they sent out with all the deposit info.

I was looking over the waitlist deposit letter, which states that you have to use a "certified check or money order drawn on a U.S. bank in U.S. dollars..."

I'm planning on getting this done tomorrow, but I can't call, since Tufts will be closed for the weekend (go figure). This may be a dumb question, but does this mean that I have to get the money order from a bank (e.g. Bank of America, Wells Fargo, etc)? I was planning on getting one from the post office right before sending my forms in, since it's cheaper. I assume the USPS uses some sort of U.S. bank, but I'm unsure about the semantics of their requirements in that sentence. Does anyone know?

Postal money order or any bank located in the US is fine. What they are saying is the certified check cant be from your bank account in whatever tax haven you choose to keep your money in (or home country if you are a international student).

for those who got accepted, is there anybody not sure if they will attend Tufts yet? or willing to drop their seat soon?
and for those who got waitlisted, anyone will not pay the waitlist deposit?

Im waitlisted at my no. 1 choice and i dont think ill get in. But tufts was my second choice so cant complain lol

On my letter it says $500 by April 16th at 5pm and to send it by certified mail.

mine says 4/16 too. damn got scared for a sec

Has anyone received a scholarship from Tufts yet? I just received my financial aid packet in the mail today and it made it seem like the Merit Scholarship Program might not have been given out yet. I assumed because I wasn't informed that I received a scholarship with/or after my acceptance that I wasn't going to get one. Anyone have any ideas about this? Do you need to be in the top 10% of the incoming class to get one? Or I also read in this forum that someone thought that it was for students with ~22AA and 3.5 gpa...which would be great as these are my stats haha

When did you get accepted to Tufts? From what I've heard, they only have a limited number of scholarships so if you got accepted later in the cycle they might have already exhausted the funds they allot towards merit scholarships. If not, they would send it to you via mail.

Woahhh second deposit?!!! What letter talks about the second deposit??

I was accepted late in the cycle, my deposit and stuff didn't officially go through until March 7th. So then it is safe to assume that all the scholarships have already been given out/I didn't qualify for one? Otherwise I already would have received one, right? Or are they sent out after you complete the financial aid info?

Thank you!!! Cant believe I completely forgot about that second deposit. Hope nobody else does that lol

I received the scholarship when I received my acceptance, so I am guessing that this is true!

I am on the wait list. I spoke to admissions and they had said that they typically do not take students off the list until much later this month and even next. I am definitely hoping for admission! I am accepted to another school, and would love to be able to go to this one and give my seat to another person. It is tough to wait, fingers crossed for everyone!

Tufts is my only hope to get accepted this year besides being my top choice school

good luck

Guys,

My soon to be roommate just decided he is not wanting to attend to TUFTS anymore

He will be resigning his seat soon

G.Luck to you those that are still waiting

Best,

P.S. Now i am looking for a roommate if anyone is interested

I got a call from Melissa Friedman today at 12pm PST offering me a spot.

I interviewed March 4th (which was a wait list interview) and mailed my wait list deposit on March 21st.

I got an email on Tuesday April 2nd saying they received my deposit, and three days later I got the call.

Very excited/shocked, as I really wasn't expecting to get off the wait list!

Congrats! so there is a movement in the waiting list

For those on the waitlist,

do we ONLY have to fill out the collegeboard profile and the FAFSA information online?

That's it?

What about that huge list of required documents that we received in the mail?

It made sense at first but then I saw that really big BOLD deadline of May 1st and I didn't wanna make any mistakes.

Thanks!

According to the letter,

"With the exception of the FAFSA on the Web and Profile, all other financial aid application materials should not be be submitted to the Financial Aid Office until after you have been formally accepted into the class."

My question is...does the fafsa have to be submitted by May 1st? Or does it have to be submitted and completely processed by May 1st? I just received the packet today and it takes two weeks for the fafsa to be processed...meaning I can't waste time lol. Does the May 1st deadline even apply to us?.....So confused 😱

The May 1st deadline applies to everyone, with keeping in mind that some can be accepted after May 1st. Just do your FAFSA as soon as possible. Make sure to use the IRS data retrieval tool. I called and was told to hold off on the CSS application, as it cost $25 and can be processed fairly quickly. I will recheck on this information closer to the date. So for now, just make sure you do your FAFSA with Tufts school code. If you have been accepted after May 1st, it is expected that the deadline will then be on an ASAP basis to get things in. Hope this helps.

May 1st doesn't apply to waitlist. We should do FAFSA ASAP but CSS College Board can wait (although I'm still doing it)

Why can't they just let us know if we're in or out?

if you have done the fafsa, what is the importance of the CSS profile?? is it needed? i finished all the other papers and sent them in already

I'm not sure yet, because I haven't done it yet. I will probably check back in with them. I think she was saying for waitlisted candidates, it might be best to wait because it does cost money, and isn't as lengthy to process as the FAFSA. So I decided to take her advice and wait, but I will probably do it soon, and then let you all know what it asks that is different. I could try starting it and maybe it saves before you pay. Not sure yet.

Well, I know it is frustrating, but unfortunately we will have to wait for someone else to decline their spot. People sometimes hold multiple schools, so hopefully the list starts to move soon. I know someone was taken off already, see the above thread.
