***The Official UCLA Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Looks like they usually don't invite anyone till October so still a long wait regardless

Don't worry everyone! Last year UCLA didn't send out in state invites until October. I submitted my application around mid-July and didn't hear anything until early November, so there's still a long way to go.

Anyone know if UCLA accepts unofficial DAT scores?

Did anyone have any issues filling out the PDF with a mac? Also, since an electronic signature is okay, that means we don't need to print the form, sign it, and scan it back, we can just simply type out our name in the signature line, correct?
Make sure you check this carefully. My pdf sent from a Mac blank and I didn't find out about it for a long time

UCLA appears on my AADSAS portal yesterday and it's received/application complete. 🙂

Meanwhile ucla hasn't even sent me their supplemental yet and it's been almost a month :dead:

really? is there any screening for supplemental app? I thought everyone who applies will get a supplemental app anyways

Mine also showed up on Thursday. My Aadsas mail out date was 7/2 w/o DAT.

First batch, supplemental turned in a long time ago. OoS and hasn't showed up

That's kind of weird- I was first batch, got secondary July 1st and submitted around July 7th and it updated on July 10th (with Received/ Application Complete). Have you contacted the school yet?

Yeah they haven't got to anyone beyond a certain batch it seems. I'm in 8 and the ucla admissions director has specifically told me they're super slow with the whole process while laughing about how nervous it makes us applicants 😀

I don't know what your batch is but I think you should call them to make sure you don't miss their supp app! Sometimes it might be in the spam mail!
Not in my spam but if anyone from batch 7 and beyond has received the secondary, would you be so kind as to mention that in this thread? Maybe I'd be worried then, but I'll give them until Tuesday before I ask

When did you submit your supplemental?

LOL, my mistake. I guess I'm burned out after completing a supplemental!
Did you receive uclas supplemental yet/what batch are you? I'm going to call Tuesday if I don't hear from them just to be safe. This is my last supplemental so I just want to get it done!!

I was batch 3 - so, app mailed out on July 10 - and got the supplemental on July 30.

So I finally got a hold of UCLA and they said they didn't accept my secondary because it exceeded 5mb and they lost my check...

They didn't tell me until I asked so just a heads up

Thanks for letting us know. So on AADSAS, did they update your status as "app complete" though they didn't accept your secondary and check?

My undergrad putting up a shameful display...

Did you type on it or print it out, handwrite, and scan it?

I typed it in their PDF and saved it and compressed it still too big. I then printed and scanned and still came back to big.

I finally got it down to the right size by using some random website that worked better than the other 5. Go figures

So if it says "Application Complete" on AADSAS does that mean they got the check too? Has anyone had theirs cashed? I feel like they aren't very good at letting us know what they've received and what they haven't.

Ignore the accidental repost 🙂

My status says the same thing. I mailed my check on 8/1/15 but it hasn't been cashed. I've been wondering if others had theirs cashed but it's starting to sound like we're still on track. Last year they sent out interview invites around the 3rd week of September. Hopefully things will pick up soon!

How soon did you guys get the confirmation letter that your primary application was received? My application was mailed 8/21 but I haven't heard anything from UCLA and no status on AADSAS portal either :bored:

Last year I typed in my answers and the secondary sent to them as blank. Be careful... They never told me either

Did it still say "Application Complete" on AADSAS? I typed it into the pdf but saved it as a new pdf file before I sent it. It says my apps complete but I'm not sure if they put that even if the file is blank.

Hey everyone!

My application was mailed out on August 21st and I still have not heard from UCLA. This is the only school that has taken this long to even contact me saying they received my application. I know many of you have said that UCLA doesn't show up in the portal, but how long does it usually take to hear back from them regarding even a supplemental or just status update?

I emailed admissions back in July for a status update and they replied with "Refer to the AADSAS status". Mine has said complete for months now. Still no word.

Okay, so I just received the supplemental app. For those of you who have completed it...how did you all fill it out since there is a size limit? I have a Macbook Pro so what is the best way of going about this so I do not send them a blank one?

I'm filling it out right now 🙂 I'm just typing in the Adobe Reader and saving as I go. We are not allowed to send in the pdf, so after you complete it print it out, scan, and email it to them.

Anyone know how to EXPLAIN the Disadvantage Status part on the supplemental? It says answer and explain. For example, the question asking "Have you faced hardships in educational pursuits? Do you consider yourself academically, socially, economically disadvantaged?" If my answer is NO to all disadvantage questions, do I have to come up with an explanation "I've always had enough resources to pay for my education food and housing and blah blah blah..?"

^ everything sent it HAS TO BE in PDF and file size must be less than 5MB. Try to use another software other than Adobe if you cannot get the file to be smaller than 5mb.

so what if I tried all the online pdf compressors and downloaded a few and it just will not go below 5 MB? o.o

I had to use a Mac and save the PDF as a low quality image and then compress that

You guys should really buy adobe acrobat pro for a month or download a free 30-day trial. It is the specific program which creates PDF files and allows you to do anything with PDF files. I was able to save my progress while filing out the secondary and the PDF was only 200kb once it was fully filled out, YUP -- that small! When you turn the pdf files into images for each page you dramatically increase the file size.

Here's the link to the free trial. I don't have the trial version, but I'm sure this would be sufficient.

A good alternative to Adobe Reader is Foxit Reader. It's free and can compress pdf files pretty well. My app was only 200-ish kb. Just make sure you don't select Ask toolbar when installing Foxit.

If ucla posted on adsas that they received/app complete does that actually mean its complete? Or should i email to double check whether my pdf file is blank or not?

does UCLA require inorganic chemistry? On their website it says inorganic/general chemistry , but on the email they send you about the secondary it says inorganic chemistry only.
