***The Official UMichigan Class of 2018 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

It's the day that applications are due for umich. Hoping that means that they'll let everyone know at that point 🙂

Yep so all of you in-state kids out there, let us know if you have/have not been invited yet to an interview.

Give you stats and batch #!

I interviewed on the first day (9/20). First batch but I think one of my letters caused me to be 2nd or 3rd.

-in state
-3.46 sGPA, 3.45oGPA
-22AA

good luck everyone and GO BLUE!!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one in this situation! I am also in-state and haven't heard anything. Also, umich is not on my AADSAS portal yet. I'm getting so nervous waiting!!

Almost in nearly the same boat as you. I imagine they're going to get back to us soon, Oct. 15 is fast approaching 🙂 #staypositive

thats good! i thought i was the only person not hearing back from them. lets hope we both get an interview from this school!

Umich doesn't participate in the aadsas notification system- they'll be in contact strictly through email. Just breathe, whats meant to be, will be! 🙂

@illini0909 you have no idea!!!! Waiting is by far the worst part haha.

Yes, perhaps it is only once you have an interview? Mine has never said anything other than invited for interview. Not sure about anyone else's!

Mine always said under-review even though I'm invited for interview.

Does interview process also include essay-writing (other than MMI and personal interview)? I noticed that some students from the previous years had to write essays during their lunch or so!!

My group did not have an essay, so I am assuming no one will be given one this cycle.

They appeared on my aadsas yesterday and I just received an invite today for the end of Nov. OOS CA

I called them on Monday and they said they handed out about 200/300 interviews and that only one of the weekends in November was filled up. But who knows maybe in the past week they've sent out a ton of invites?
The waiting game is torturous! Has anyone in-state heard back this week?

Interesting. They gave me a date in Jan.

May decline.

Got an invite scheduled for January 17.

In state, first batch.

I'm not really sure how I feel about a January interview though. Does anyone know how much the class is going to be filled on December 2nd?

At my interview they said they don't fill all of their class by the 2nd. So, still chances for post-dec. interviews to get a seat.

For those trying to find a place to stay in Ann Arbor, I seriously advise not staying at the Victory Inn & Suites. I was not impressed at all with their facility.

If you're on a tight budget, like I have been at each of my interviews, the Lamp Post Inn sufficed. You get what you pay for, and at $60/night, it's not much. It's a strip motel and, if you let your mind wander, you could certainly imagine it as a prime location for seedy happenings. But it was clean, had a decent breakfast, friendly staff, cable, iron/ironing board, and was only a 5 minute drive from the school.

Sounds like a better pick than where I had stayed, especially for the same price I paid.

First batch here and still haven't gotten an interview. Does that mean that I am not going to get one from UMich? I wanted to call the school and ask but I dont know how I should approach them. I remember reading somewhere that says "please don't contact our office about your application status...", but I am dying to find out.. Do you guys know what the best approach is?

I was 1st batch and I got my invite last week. I don't know if that does anything for you though. I thought Michigan was a lost cause, but I guess patience is a virtue.

First batch as well and nothing yet from Michigan interviewed at LECOM and another one coming up at Midwestern-Illinois. Also doing a masters at Michigan but I guess they do not care until I update my grades. I think it's time for me to start giving up!

Has anyone in-state or out of state that's 5th batch or later heard anything from Miichigan? It seems like if they're still sending first batchers invites, they havent even looked at any applications sent in July/August :/

i know theres been a couple but most of those people have very high stats.

My application was mailed July 5th ( I think that is 3rd or 4th?) and I received an interview invite in early September.

Just got an invite today! 3rd batch OOS

Finally, it's about time.

Interview invite 1/17/13

4th Batch In-State

I live about a 5 minute walk away from the dental school, let me know if any males out there are interested in roughing it for a night at my place for the interview. Totally free, just nice to make some friends.

I got one too! Also for 1/17 🙂

is Umich done with OOS interview invites? I know they usually interview OOS first, but if you didn't get a pre-Dec interview and are OOS, do you still have a chance?

Thanks👍

hey guys were there role playing and team project stations? trying to mentally prepare myself haha

Also were the questions policy related or scenario-based (ethical dilemma) kind of questions?
Thanks,

I have an interview there on Nov 8... I'll be at the airport on Nov 7th at 9:15 P.M. If anyone wants to share a car... please message me or post here!

For those who had their interview, can you please describe how it was, and what kind of questions they asked? Thanks!

I don't know how to multi-quote, but to all the folks above looking for feedback - It's a breeze, just be yourself and answer honestly. We all signed a confidentiality agreement, so I think you'll be hard pressed to get specifics.

Can you at least say if it was a group vs individual interview?

anybody know if michigan is still sending out pre-dec/post-dec invites?

When I called them and asked about the spots in pre-december, all the spots were filled. The person on the phone said that they are still giving out interviews until Feb.

are these OOS or Instate interviews that will be given until Feb. Thanks

I didn't ask. I am assuming a bit of both, but I could be wrong.

For those who interviewed at UMichigan already, any feedback or advice on what to expect?

Just got an email from them sending me contact info of one of their students who went to the same school as I did for undergrad. This school is already giving me a great vibe. Can't wait for the interview.
