***The Official UMichigan Class of 2018 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

I think they might still be making their way through the list. I am at the beginning of the alphabet and received a call about 30 minutes ago. 🙂

Accepted!!!! And a scholarship offer!! Not bad for a Monday morning!

Congratulations to those who were accepted! One of you should make a Facebook group so you can start getting in touch with all your new classmates and the upperclassmen can join as well to provide info, etc.

To those who are still waiting to hear back, you can check your WolverineAccess. I think some people had checked that and saw they were accepted on that before they got the call.

Good luck to all those who are still waiting!

GO BLUE!

got a call about an hour ago!! 🙂 from toronto canada

Got the call this morning and University of Michigan is by far my first choice so I'm very very happy. I interviewed in November. Also I'm slightly biased because I'm from Ann Arbor and I go there now as an undergraduate but this school and this city is amazing! Incredibly excited to meet everyone! See you all in June! Also Go Blue!!!!!

For those who have been accepted - Do you know when they will send out the conformation email?

I did not receive a call from Michigan today, unfortunately. Did anyone else from Nov. 22nd interview get an acceptance? Does anyone remember what they said about when their next wave of offers would be and/or when they form their waitlist?

Yeah I was at the same interview and no luck. It was so late that I feel like we were interviewing for the waitlist regardless.

Yeah I felt like we were sort of the last people to the party, too. 🙁BUT didn't they say they still had 2 more interview days? I wouldn't think they'd have 3 days of interviewing primarily for wait-list spots, otherwise that's pretty sucky.

Got a call today around 11am EST, super excited:smuggrin:! Congrats to all my future classmates and hey, we only have to wait till June😉

Got my call yesterday! Still need to take a sociology class in order to matriculate but that shouldn't be difficult to knock out! I'm from Chesapeake, VA if any other Virginians got their call too!

My interview was in November and I haven't received any phone calls or emails yet! Does that mean that I'm wait-listed or rejected? Does anyone have the same situation as me?

My interview was Nov. 2nd. Not a word yet from them either.... hopefully this is not a bad thing?

I interviewed on Nov 22nd and I got an acceptance call yesterday at 9:00 am. Michigan Resident.

Has anybody waiting for some kind of response called or have any news?

Does anyone know when Michigan sends out its last batch of interview invites?
Thanks.

woot woot👍... it's interesting how one day you consider not coming to their interview and a month later you pick Michigan as your school of choice :naughty:. So unpredictable you are.

I'm having a VERY tough time deciding between here and UCLA. What are some Pros and Cons of Michigan that you have all discovered??

yeah, ever since my interview i've been thinking about how i almost passed on them. pretty glad i didnt.

two of the many things i like are the pathway curriculum and how invested in technology the program is. UofM is also among the lowest cost options available to me.

cons specific to umich are difficult to pin down. i imagine there will be something i dislike about dental school here that i'll dislike at any other school. two external factors i'm not really hot about are the surprisingly high cost of living in ann arbor...and the weather.

A few pros:
-Program, facilities, range of opportunities…all that stuff you heard about on interview day
-I’ve worked in the dental school during undergrad and the classes are really close, students were always willing to help/answer any questions for me. They seem genuinely happy here. The faculty/staff I’ve met have been amazing
-The dental school is in a great location—on central campus, by the major bus station (CC Little), close to both South U and State Street if you want to run out and grab lunch or coffee
-Big 10 school, meaning Big 10 sports and Big 10 tailgates
-Ann Arbor beyond being a college town (the city puts on events like Top of the Park, an art festival, restaurant week…)
-I’ve always felt safe walking around campus and AA, even when it’s super late
-Michigan alumni; the school has great spirit and it doesn’t die when you leave

Cons:
-Michigan winters can be a drag
-Parking on campus can get annoying, so plan on busing, biking, or walking

You guys have pretty much nailed down everything I have come up with on my own list - my only concern is that UCLA has pretty much all of the good qualities of Michigan, but in addition it has awesome weather all year round. I'm from SD and have lived in southern California my whole life so it would be very difficult for me to give up that great weather when I have an offer from an excellent school like UCLA that is so close to home for me as well. I'm heavily leaning UCLA at this point, but my mind seems to change every single day. I absolutely loved Michigan when I interviewed and I know I can't go wrong either way, I just think I'll have too hard a time dealing with those Ann Arbor winters, especially since I've never even been in the snow !

I don't know where you're from, but if Ann Arbor living costs are still considered high, you're either not looking at the right places or you have unrealistic standards.

The weather, however, is something I will not miss about AA.

DC. Understand that in no way do I consider the A2 CoL "high", just higher than I would expect for a small city in the Midwest.

And I'm speaking only to property values and rent rates.

For those of you interested, I live in an apartment with 3 other roommates right next to the Central Campus Recreation Building (CCRB). I also have a car on campus, and finding parking is actually not that bad as compared to an actual city like Boston. Total I'm paying is about $500 a month for rent, utilities, and a parking spot. I'm also a 5-10 minute walk away from the dental school, libraries, starbucks, wherever you'd want to study if having roommates really bothers you.

I love it at UM and can't see myself anywhere else. Honestly though, go to your state school if you're going to be financing your education through loans. I'm not sure any school is really worth paying an extra 16 - 20k/year. If money is not an issue, then this is an amazing place to be.

this is about the price point i'm looking at for my years of schooling. ideally i'd not shack up with students in my class as that would be entirely too much uniformity between school and home life.

For me personally, it would be awesome to have that kind of uniformity to live, struggle, and achieve with other students together. Basically becoming best friends?

i think that ample enough opportunity for that exists by virtue of the fact we would be side by side from 8-5 or later mon-fri. and it's not like you wouldn't be socializing with a group outside of school.

i'm just thinking of those moments at home, where you and your roomies are grinding toward a different set of exams in different classes at different times. or, if they're pharmd or md students, if conversation inevitably turns to "school"...you'd have different things to say. or complain about.

at the end of the day, either situation would work.

Do we need a specific computer here? I can't remember what they said at the interview.

Also, do any of you know what solution we should be storing our collected teeth in?
