We were searching on the interview day too with no success. @DentTreadOnMe wore a cap at the pizza social so that may have made him harder to spot. Nonetheless, glad you had a great experience!
 
Have they sent invites for their October date yet?

Looks like last year, they were sent out the week immediately following the first round of interviews. So hopefully within the next few days!

I went to the pizza social for the first interview and I wore business casual (button-down, khakis, no tie - I'm a guy). Some people were just wearing shorts, nice sneakers, polos, skirts, etc. though. I don't think it matters ultimately!

Same exact situation for me as well
 
Pretty neat that UNC invites family to attend the social/interview day. Just wondering how many actually had family tagging along at the first interview day (or those who plan to in October)... don’t want to be the only one lol

I would say 5-10 people in September had either parents or partners accompany them, but keep in mind that most of the OOS applicants are interviewed during the Sept date so it's possible that the Oct date may have more family attending seeing that there will be many more NC students interviewing.

My app status in AADSAS changed from "invited for interview" to "received/application complete." I interviewed in September. Anyone else have this change? Likely just the next part of the process as they wrap up files from Sep and prepare for Oct interviews but I'm curious.

I'm interviewing in October and plan to bring my mom and brother! Hope to meet other families too! 🙂

As of 2017, it was roughly 42% IS students interviewed were accepted... 24% OOS students interviewed were accepted... that data is in the attached spreadsheet made from the ADA data that year:

So I received an interview from UNC for 10/12 but my AADSAS application decision status never changed to "Invited for Interview". Anyone else?

I wouldn't worry about it. I had my interview this month and my status magically changed from "Invited for Interview" to "Under Review." If you're scheduled, you're set!

They were really fun. The pizza social is a good way to meet people beforehand. The day of is really action-packed but well run, so it's not chaos. The faculty I interviewed with seemed genuinely interested in me as a person and we had meaningful conversation. I suggest finding some friends and going out to eat on Franklin street after the interview. Odds are you will probably be attending UNC with at least one of those people next year if all goes well!

If you're in-state btw you probably know the area but I highly recommend Soul Cocina/Rumi Persian Cafe (which are right next to each other) for amazing food.

So is it safe to assume those who have not received an invite by now, in essence, have been rejected? All the interview invites for the November date would be sent out simultaneously, correct (10:40 AM EST)?

I interviewed in September and was told that they would have a January interview date this year for "late applicants and underrepresented minorities". I'm not sure if they will interview 80+ applicants in January like they typically do in the Sept - Nov interview dates. I also don't know how this will play into how many offers they send out in December. It would be great if anyone at the school could confirm.

I don't believe it was announced but I had spoken to one of the adcom members after the day to ask about next steps and was told that the adcoms will be getting together in November to finalize the list of people that will be accepted in December and there will be a few more seats to fill post December after the January interview date.

I know last years november invites said it was the last interview of the cycle - anyone who just received an invite might be able to say if this also says that.

Hi everyone! I have a question for those who have already interviewed. What time does the interview/events on Saturday end? I was planning on flying out Saturday night and didn't want to be rushed to the airport!

My interview was mostly a conversation. You should be fine if you read over your application and are prepared to answer any questions about who you are.

Yes, this is true that they are going to hold one last interview date in January (different from years past), with a much smaller group of applicants to fill the class. That's all the details I got for ya
