**The Official UoP c/o 2019 Interview/Acceptance Thread** -(2015/2016 Cycle)

This is addressing the specializing at UOP issue.
Yes you can specialize if you go to UOP, IF you have good grades.
They have a high specializing percentage of acceptance because only those with high grades apply for the specialties.
At my UOP interview a current student told me that if you do not have high enough grades the faculty will discourage you from pursuing a speciality.
That is why at a school like UCLA, with pass/fall grading your chances are much higher to specialize because you do not have to be at the top of your class to specialize.

Could someone make a new facebook group for our class? The other group has had 4 people for the last few months and I cannot join.
SO EXCITED to go to UOP!!!!

Have you done the background investigation already? If so how long did it take? It seems we are gonna be slammed pretty hard with classes on July 9.

Can anyone comment on how the interview was? I have mine on Thursday. The email with the day's itinerary shows that there is a 1 hour interview with faculty and a 1 hour interview with a student. 1 hour seems long to me! All my other interviews have been around 30-40 minutes.

It won't be an hour. The interview process at UoP extremely laid back and chill. You just chat for a while and they want to get to know you. They love it if you talk about humanism since that's a part of their philosophy.

Cool thank you! Are you going to attend UOP?

Could I ask you why you chose to attend Penn over U of P? Are you from California or the Northeast?
I'm from the midwest. Penn is more geared for research and specializing and I just felt it had more opportunities to offer. Don't get me wrong- UoP is a fantastic clinical school and it's in San Fran and 3 years. I just thought Penn was a better fit.

Super chill interview. Just relax and be excited! Bring in tons of questions though. TONS! Pretty much the entire interview process at UOP is to inform yourself and get familiar with the school.

Thanks! I'll be sure to have a bunch of questions prepared

Hi guys! Got an interview invite for the 25th. I was wondering if you could give me any tips about the interview/interview day and answer two of my questions?

Is it true that if you get an interview at UoP you are basically in? And is there a writing assignment that you have to do once you're there? Thanks, and I am super excited!!!

Yes, they interview to accept. From the stats I have seen, they interview 260 and accept 200 to fill the class of 140. The interview is just to make sure you're not socially inept.

Hey! Just be engaged, excited, and prepare lots of specific UOP questions (check out their website for inspiration) and you will be just fine! Yes, there are 2 writing assignments but I believe its just so they can make sure your voice matches with the voice of your personal statement. They are engaging prompts and you will definitely be able to answer both with lots to say.

Good luck!!

hey guys! i'm interviewing february 29th, and uop is my first choice!! i heard if you interview this late it's pretty much for a wait list position, but i just wanted to ask if anyone knew if this is true and if my interview is in fact for a wait list position. also if anyone had any tips for the interview i would love to hear 🙂 thanks so much!

Slowly giving up hope for an interview. This is my first choice 🙁
overall GPA 3.71
Science GPA 3.75
DAT 21AA 22TS 22 PAT (math and reading was 19 on the lower side)
Plenty of extracurricular
1 year worth of bioengineering research experience

I did apply later on in the cycle. Application was complete late September b/c DAT was taken late August.

I have tried contacting the admissions but having no luck in any progress towards an interview! 🙁

Did they happen to mention it was the last interview? I have some tips if you want to PM me
I was offered 3 days and the 29th was the last one so it might be. However, i think students at the school were saying they interview into April.

Really? I think early march at the latest. April sounds pretty late in the game.
I thought so too for a competitive school haha. I guess having such small interview groups forces them to have a large interview window. Could't believe when I walked in to see only 5 other people in the group(especially 4 days after Western's massive interview).

Invited for an interview on 2/11.

3.5/3.5 23/24/23

I asked if I would be interviewing for regular or alternate seat, they said it is really close so at this time they aren't sure. They will let me know within about a week.
omg awesome anjunabeats avi. anjunadentists unite

Accepted! Anyone attending from Southern California area?

Yes, but they e-mail you if you don't pick up the call.

How is the chance of recieving an interview invite now?

I called yesterday, and I spoke to the lady for awhile.

She said they are Filing interview spots for the few spots left left in the class and shortly they will be moving on to waitlist interviews.

I just had an interview there yesterday and the entire group was told that the interview was for an alternate list. 🙁

ya'all being dramatic with the alternate list.

i'm giving up my seat and attending another school. I LOVE UOP but got a scholarship that would help me out tremendously at a 4-year school. my military scholarship will only cover a 4-year school. if $ wasn't an issue for me, UOP definitely would have been my school, my dream school. feeling a bit bummed but it makes me feel good that the people i met there will be lifelong colleagues and friends. totally bonded with the admissions director can't say much about the messy older woman student services dean with the mini skirt LOL.

btw, i was told alternates are ranked and placed in four groups, top group always gets in (duh, there's always movement especially with scholarships, second deposits); my buddy from utah also was on the waitlist but was offered a spot in the next class. he didn't have to go back to the interview the next cycle; he worked and traveled. good luck to you all.

Hmm based on the previous comments, is it safe to say that at this time, since I have not heard anything from UoP for interviews or anything at all...that it's most likely over? 3:

did they ever get back to you about this?

I called them, and at the time of my interview which was Feb 11th, there were still spots left. But judging by the previous posts looks like they have just run out?

I'm still holding onto a spot I may drop. I'm still between schools. I'm sure others are in the same position.

Rec'd interview call yesterday, scheduled for Monday the 7th.
