**** The Official UoP Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread ****

I'm in! Got the call yesterday morning too 🙂 Do we have a facebook group for Class of 2016?

Someone should make a thread with all the class Facebook groups like they did last year.

Got in on Monday, really really want to go but the cost is pretty scary.

Currently applying HPSP but it's kind of a mess because of the 3 year thing.

Anyone else in the same boat? Seems really risky to take on 400k+ loans and hope IBR sticks around... :scared:

So, I am wondering if anybody heard anything after the status changed to Re-review in January..

not yet...they don't even really follow up with questions i've emailed...hopefully we'll hear soon

Called their office and learned that:

1) They are re-reviewing applications this entire month.
2) They will call to invite you for an interview whenever they want to (not a scheduled day to send out a wave of interviews)
3) Those interviews will most likely take place at the end of Feb/early March
4) At that time, most of the class will be full, if not entirely full, so those interviews will most likely be for waitlist positions.

Kind of a bummer...but still looking forward to hearing from them. Please update us if you hear anything else!

I wonder if the end of January interview date is for waitlist positions as well..hrmm.

IMO, I don't think so. The person I spoke with was implying that by the end of Feb they'll have a full class, and that they don't have one now

Has anyone heard anything from UoP regarding the re-review in January? We are getting close to the end of January so I am a little concerned.

I called them and they said my app is being reviewed early this coming week. So fingers crossed, but I'm being realistic about my chances- esp b/c it's so late in the cycle and UoP is quite competitive.

Good luck everyone :luck:

I had heard that UoP had pretty much filled up the class in early Dec.

Just got a call today for an interview on March 4th! I asked if it was for wait list and she was unsure but I'm sure it will be by that time!

SAME! Literally the same convo. I asked if it was for waitlist and she said she didn't know. I never blush but let me tell you when I got this phone call I started hyperventilating and turned bright red. I loooove Pacific!!! So excited for the chance to interview. Stats below.

Btw: Interview options were for either Th 2/28 or Mon 3/4 but I picked the March date since I have 4 classes on Thursdays.

rk0190 (and others) PM if u wanna meet!

Ahhhh whattt?! Hopefully the rest of us will hear soon! Congrats to those who were invited today!

Also, even if you get waitlisted at UOP, I think they accept you for the next cycle no matter what. So you could perhaps work during that year and save up money and still graduate in the same number of years as you would have at another school?

How did you guys get in contact with UOP? what number did you use? Did they ask for your name?

I got a phone call from Janelle around 6:30 pm EST. She said they'll be sending a conf email soon with details about what we need for the interview.

Do you guys think picking the March 4 date over Feb 28 is going to be severely detrimental? I figure we're all interviewing for wait-list spots at this point anyway (which I totally don't mind). Just wondering...

was anybody who recently received an interview put on 're-review' earlier in the cycle? thanks!

I have an interview at UoP this coming Thursday, February 7. I am sincerely and genuinely excited for the opportunity! If there is anyone who has interviewed/been accepted that would be willing to share a little bit about the interview experience, your insight would be greatly appreciated!! Good luck to all that are currently in this cycle and congrats to those who have been accepted!

Everyone was extremely nice. I mean from faculty to students. One thing I really liked was the atmosphere of the school, plus they're opening a new building in 1 year right near powell station!
We started out with orientation and then financial overview. Then part of us tour while the other interview then switch. I toured first and really liked my tour guide. Very knowledgeable and had a lot to say. Then went to lunch. Following that I had about a 30 minute 1-on-1 interview with a student which was a relaxed situation, but still treat it professionally. That went really well, I ended up asking him a lot of questions. After that I had about a 45minute-1hour interview with a faculty member. The faculty that interview you extensively read your application so that is why you should know about it. He brought up a couple things from personal statement, to things I've done. But overall, the interview was not a stressful situation, but rather more of a relaxed one. For the rest of the day it was more general information and a talk about the new building. Lastly we had a written portion. Actually there was also a written portion at the beginning of the interview day. Both questions were not intensive. I believe the one at the end of the day was more like your view of the interview experience.
All in all, it was a great experience whether I end up with an acceptance or not. They preach their humanistic environment and show it really well. One of the more genuine institutions that I had the opportunity to interview at.

Best of luck on the interview!
Also, don't be afraid to ask them if you are interviewing for an alternate position.

SirWinston I really appreciate the input! That is definitely a load off knowing that the interview is laid back in nature! I am really hoping for the best at UoP. From my previous exposures to the school, there is nowhere I would rather continue my education!! In your preparations, did you come across any SDN threads or websites that you used to get yourself ready?? I used predents.com for my Buffalo interview, but it appears that the website is no longer running. Kind of a bummer!! Either way, best of luck to you in your pursuit to becoming a dentist and maybe we'll one day cross paths!

I had an interview at Pacific on Jan 14. I was accepted about a week a go, so it doesn't appear that they are full yet. They did tell me that I was NOT interviewing for an alternate position, however. The interview is super relaxed. Mine only lasted about 35 minutes and she basically talked about the school and why I should go there the whole time. Just a few questions about my app, but more along the lines of just getting to know me(hometown, family, etc). My biggest advice would be to know your app, don't show up too high-strung, and ask questions. They make you feel very comfortable. U of P is one of the best schools out there.

I agree with fljo0502. Know your application well and bring questions. They're trying to get to know you so be confident, but professional and be yourself.

I feel that the best way to prepare is know your application and then know how to answer questions about yourself. That might sound like a weird thing to say, but sometimes when someone asks you a question about yourself it's hard to answer! Work on articulation when you talking and good communication skills. Plus eye contact. I didn't feel that any preparation beyond that was necessary to have a good interview. And thank you, hopefully we do!

I had heard that UoP had pretty much filled up the class in early Dec.

Had my interview on 1/28 and just got the acceptance call today for a non-wait list spot. They are definitely not full!

Interviewed 1/24, accepted TODAY! Stoked and grateful for the opportunity; now I have a decision to make although UOP is looking pretty strong. Hope for good things for the rest of you waiting.

Just out of curiosity, when did you get your interview invite and what are your stats?

Eeep!!! Congrats! My interview is coming up 3/4 so they prob won't have many (or any) open seats left at that point but I am thrilled regardless to have the chance to interview here. Congrats to everyone who is in!!! Best of luck to those still waiting!
