**** The Official USC Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread ****

Mine too... This cycle is taking much longer than last year's. According to last year's thread, most of the seats were filled by early May.

At this point, I'd rather have a more definite answer--a rejection or an acceptance--rather than hanging on. hoping. Everything in my life is put on hold because of this. :/. Anyways, best of luck bumpyroads. 🙂.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Thank you, Stickybear. And, good luck everyone!

LA is now and has been my home for the past years. My friends and family are here. I can't make the next step until I know USC's decision. I think that warrants me wanting USC. 😛.

Good luck stickybear 👍 I wish you the best. I never heard from USC even though I loved the school, so fingers crossed for you. 🙂

Aww thanks. 🙂. You're really awesome. Best of luck on UoP -- I never heard from that school, and I think finishing an SF dental school in 3 years is a ridiculously good deal!!

This is just a guess.. don't blow me up.. I was speaking to my friend who had been accepted to USC recently and he told me his second deposit was due May 15. So I'm guessing a lot of other people's deposits are due that day. Ultimately, my guess is that we won't hear anything until after that date.

You're probably right. Ryan did tell me that acceptances won't come out till mid-May, and so I'm thinking that it will be sometimes next week. And since the last 4 rounds of acceptance have been occurring in the later part of the week (Thursday or Friday), calls/emails will probably happen on the 16th or 17th. At this point, USC seems to the best school (or maybe the worst--whatever your take on it) to be waitlisted on. All other schools are pretty much full and are giving seats whenever a student withdraws. At least with USC, with ~30-40 seats left, we still have a decent shot.

I wonder if it's going to be one big batch or just individual acceptances after that date. My guess is probably one big batch cause there is still a decent number of seats.

Last year for the last remaining 25% of the spots, USC actually calls to see whether the applicant is still interested. I think it might happen this year too. Although last year, USC didn't wait until May 15 (when the second deposit was due). Almost all of the seats were filled by May 3.

so are they still going to send out interviews?

I don't think so. Just to be sure, you may want to call them.

Did anybody call them in the past week regarding the next wave of acceptance?

Wooooooo! Got a call from Ryan today! I'm in!!!!!!! I hope it wasn't a dream! Finally!

total of 2 have been accepted today (thru phone) . posted on USC fb group

There were 6 people who joined the fb group today. I guess there were at least 6 acceptances.

i joined USC fb (not accepted) like 3 weeks ago and these 6 may not be the total that were accepted..

wonder why they decided to call this round..

wonder if they accept 36 this time

You guys should all seriously take a ****ing chill pill...jesus christ.

Kinda easy to say, when you're already in or if you're already accepted somewhere. But, if USC is pretty much your last hope and when a phone call could save you thousands, it could be tricky to stay calm. That being said, I WANT MY PHONE CALL! lol

The chances of getting in is pretty much gone now. Well, to everyone who hasn't gotten in USC, good luck at your dental school--or, I guess, good luck on the next cycle.

you are smoking crack if u believe that...

USC is one of the most expensive DS in the nation and there has always been movement til the day of orientation (each year).

That's quite a condescending tone...

The reason why Ryan calls this cycle is because he calls to make sure the applicant is still interested, and if the applicant is not, then he calls the next one. I think it's safe to say that the 144 seats are taken and space will only be available if someone withdraws. Yes, there is still a chance of getting in (and yes people do withdraw last minute), but the chance of getting in is significantly less than when 75% of the class was full. When the class was 75% full, applicants should wait and see whether they get in or not. But now, the next best (or safest) move is to prepare for the next cycle since it starts less than a month from now.

So I talked to someone at USC over the phone today and I was told that USC is 75% full and that acceptances are only being sent out via phone when the applicant can't be contacted via email. He also told me that the people who were accepted most recently have until the 15th to put their deposit down. Any thoughts? Seems a bit confusing after looking at the people who got accepted via a phone call 3 days ago.

I called, and the only thing we need to know is that they are still calling applicants to offer acceptance. It's not over yet.

Hmm..I don't understand how it could still be 75%? Wasn't it 75% before the acceptances last week? I would think that its ~100%, and we have to wait until someone drops out and gives up their deposit before August. MBlue16, did you ask how full the class was?

Yeap. Same answer... 75%. I would assume that it's the number of students who paid their deposit already...

Yaaa i'm not really sure. Someone should try getting ahold of Ryan. We will probably get a more accurate response through him.

Here's an actual copy and paste from an email I got from Ryan:

As of today, you're still on the wait list. For now on, it will be individual acceptances by phone, email, and regular US postal mail, depending on availability of spots. Normally the class fills up by late May/early June, but it's not finalized until late August when the entering student orientation begins. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

USC portal is now closed for 2012-2013 application cycle.

Yea noticed that too today. Its time to get things rolling again and get ready for the next cycle. Good luck everyone and dont give up.

Well I know they had graduation last week so they might have been busy with that and might send something soon. Really depends when the adcoms decide to send more out. They said it could be anytime in may or even early june

Just talked to Ryan and the class is over 90% full. He said that it is time to re-apply ..

I don't know why he said to somebody else that it is 75%full and told me that the class is over 90% full but I just asked now and it is almost full and he also said that it is very very low percentage that the waitlists can get accepted..

I will see you guys next year !!
