The Under M1 Club, Part II - COME ON IN!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
when do i get an avatar thingie??🙁

i feel so plain

My parents came up this weekend. It was nice. Didn't get any work done, but it was nice.

Well, I can't say I didn't get any work done. I did some review problems for physics. But thats pretty much it.

Which reminds me why I'm up so early. Adios.

lilithny - the avatars are in your control panel I believe. There should be an option that allows you to choose an avatar from an available list. You can also use your own, but I don't know how to do that. I just stuck with this doggie because it looks funny 😀

Hey gang! Just thought I would stop in and see what's happening at the awesome under M1 club. 😀 I don't know if you are taking new members 😉 but I hope your semesters are kicking butt!

Biodude: Wushu? That's awesome, how's it going for you?

Party on everyone (or should I say study on?)

-Sean

Hey all!

Welcome Sean...and of course we're always taking new members lol. How's your semester going for ya? Where do u go? What's your major?

Lilithny - Actually my fave of the peanut butter cups is the white chocolate ones hehe....now those are yummy 🙂.
Hang in there with chemistry. Practice, practice, practice lol. I know what you mean tho...gen chem didn't give me those old bad feelings from hs, but organic certainly is at the moment lol.

I've had a rough coupla days already and it's just the beginning of the week lol. Found out yesterday what I got on my orgo exam and it ruined my day lol. I missed a lot of points on the easy stuff (like which one will have the higher boiling point, draw such and such molecule) and then messed up the major point questions. I got most of the points on the one-step reactions, but messed up the "simple" synthesis questions, the mechanism we had to draw, and explaining why out of two compounds only one would produce the desired product. I blew an A, but I still have a decent shot at a solid B or even a B+ assuming I stop mixing things up in my head when working thru the exams lol.

As a result of my mood yesterday I couldn't fall asleep until like 3 and was supposed to get up at 5:30 so I could finish a research methods assignment before that class....suffice it to say I didn't wake up til 8:30 and never made it to that class lol. But I was going to finish the assignment at school this afternoon only for whatever reason I couldn't open my assignment from my disc so now I have to finish what I can at home and email it to the prof tonite. (There's a data analysis package that the excel programs at school have that I don't). I'll probably lose a few points for getting it in late, and then a few more points for not having the data analysis chart 🙁, but we'll see.

This week I have my second physics exam which I'm not worried about, but I definitely need to spend some time getting ready for it since I really haven't done any physics work since our last exam lol, and then my lab reports for 2 orgo labs and a physics lab. Other than that I'll be trying to spend even more time doing orgo stuff then I already was. At least we don't have a quiz in orgo until Oct 30....and I don't have any other exams between my physics one this week and November.

Hope everyone else is having a decent time of it. Have a good week!

Thanks S-babe! I am at Duquesne Univ. in Pittsburgh, PA. (Never heard of it, right?) Studying Biology, the usual. This semester is going pretty well - got a Micro test tomorrow, but that is one of those classes where it hurts you to actually learn the material. It stinks, but I guess I shouldn't complain - he just wants you to memorize the study guide and repeat stuff back to him. "What three things did I write under heading 2A?" it might as well be. I've also got Human Genetics, Evolution, and Japanese (konichiwa)!

That stinks about Organic, but even if you are getting a B, a lot of people would say that's pretty darn good. I bet you are the kind of person that will really pull an A anyways 😉 And Physics at the same time? That's hardcore 😀

Alright time to hit the books (or the sack, one of the two)

Sean

This week should be interesting. Today in Orgo we went over some more reactions, and multistep synthesis, which is interesting, cause its kind of puzzle solving. Has the potential to be geekily fun. 🙂
Tomorrow I'll finish the 4th experiment in Analytical by finishing my standardization, then finding the percentage of the analytes in my unknown acid and bases. Thursday we have an exam(eep!), and I will do exp 5, a potentiometric titration to determine acetic acid in vinegar. Wednesday in Orgo we'll do an IR of an unknown, then have a discussion on PMR.

So it goes...

Sean - Sound like you're having a fun semester. Good luck on your micro exam tomorrow! And yes, I have heard of Duquesne...I grew up in the midwest and looked at a lot of the schools in PA before moving out here since most of my dance teachers were from that area lol.

As far as me being the type of person who can pull out that A I wish I were lol. I've only gotten one A so far since transferring to my 4 yr school (although right now I have 3 of them 🙂 )and that was in a philosophy class lol. I'm not getting a B even right now...but I still have a shot at that anyway lol. I really did bomb that last exam, but we have a lot of points left still.....2 25 pt quizzes, a 100 pt exam, a 200 pt final, 6 10 pt homeworks, and half a semester worth of "clicker" questions (in class multiple choice questions)....plus a 25 pt EC exercise. It would take a major miracle for me to pull off the A or A-, but the B or B+ is much more realistic lol. As for having physics at the same time I'm taking alg-based and we get a 3 x 5 notecard for our exams and homework is 10% of the grade so it's really not all that bad.

Later all!

Hey all-just wanted to stop in and say hi and good luck to all of you!

I'm drowning in midterms right now-gotta leave in 5 min for anatomy (muscle exam-blecch!). But so far I'm holding the coveted 4.0:clap: (tho it's getting harder and harder to keep!) I really need to keep it through midterms b/c my student services advisor won't sign off on the override for me to take 19 credits during spring semester unless I do....

Looking forward to the end of the semester (and sleep!), I'm almost halfway through....and spring will be easier-my only big classes are Gen Chem 2 and Calc-the other ones will be Survey of Architecture, Intro to Philosophy, and Speech.

OK, off to poke at a cadaver and a bunch of cats😛

Hello!

I just wanted to peek my head in and say hello. I have been lurking for a minute now, and wanted to creep out of hiding. I've thoroughly enjoyed the forums thus far...hope to be chatting with you! 😀

Welcome savvydiva!

Skaterbabe- I am in Chem's good graces once again! I went to lecture yesterday and I found out my prof drops the lowest test grade, huge relief for me. Three more tests to go in that class... def. gonna kick it into high gear!

Well, I'm getting all my studying done before tonight... yanks are on tonight and i'm never productive if there's a game on.

Welcome Savvydiva! Fill us in about yourself when you get a chance 🙂!

jenni - Good luck on the rest of your midterms! And congrats on your 4.0 so far! I had to attempt to figure out how to do the classes I want to do while I'm here without an override next semester cuz I don't think I'm gonna do well enough to get the override lol. We'll see what happens tho..

lilithny - Woohoo! I love surprises like that lol. There's a rumor that my orgo prof will replace your lowest score with your final score if it's better, but he hasn't told us that so I can't count on it yet lol.

On tap for me today is finishing one last physics problem for my homework that is due today, working on lab reports, and distilling a bit of solvent for my coworkers to use to run something today. Classwise I only have orgo lab lecture and physics lecture.

Have a good one!

Had a really rough analytical test today. Will have to see Tuesday how it turns out..not a good feeling though. Lab 5 today, then a review session for Econ.

harrypotter - Hey there, neat username 😎 Welcome to the club. HOAG Memorial Hospital Presbyterian has a special volunteering program called COPE, and the volunteers are known as CCE's (Clinical Care Extenders). Basically, what we do is what a CNA would do, I guess. Um, anyways, if you are wondering, it's quite a large amount to invest in...first, you have to schedule an appointment for an interview. Then you get an application form (via e-mail) where you have to fill out your standard info, but also have to answer questions like, "What skills are required for patient care? How do you rank yourself?" and "How do you solve problems?" etc.

After the interview, and assuming that you get accepted, you have to make sure to have these things ready: immunizations (Hepatitis B and MMR), Tb test from 3 months ago at the very latest, and CPR certification (preferably AHA, but Red Cross is okay). After turning that in, you have to go through a 3 day training session, and then take a quiz (I'd call it an exam), where you have to get at least 80% correct to pass.

Here's the website if you're still interested:

http://www.copepartners.org/CCEhome.html

The next orientation/interview session won't be until about October/November, I believe. I'd try to schedule the interview as early as possible.

that's tough stuff

Hey there hamhamfan, how's it goin'? I went to Bolsa Grande HS myself 😀 Now I'm goin' to CSU Fullerton.

Get ready for a long post:

Glad to hear about another person goin' into the program (hopefully). Anyway, as to which section you choose, it doesn't matter. The hours are exactly the same whether you choose Gynecology or Medical Pulmonary. Just choose the one that sounds interesting to you, k?

I'm still on my first rotation (Oncology) right now, and should be done with it by next month. ER baby! 🙂

Here are the 3 choices I had:

Gynecology/Urology - the area you use to go pee-pee with

Oncology - cancer

Medical Pulmonary - Lungs

I ranked Med Pulm as my first choice, Oncology as my 2nd choice, and Gyne/Uro as my 3rd choice.

You don't actually get to choose one, you have to rank them in order of preference. Then you have to wait and see if Ryan can fit you into that department. I got into my second choice the first time around.

Here are the shifts (7 days a week, 4 hours a shift):

7 a.m. - 11 a.m.

11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

3 p.m. - 7 p.m.

7 p.m. - 11 p.m.

If you have a problem here, I would talk to Ryan Jenkins.

Little note: I have done shifts in every time set except the 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. shift, and the most boring one was the 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. That's when the nurses and PCA's are taking a break (you'll learn what PCA stands for during training) and the patients are all sleeping...so I had nothing to do except walk around and around and around and around...

The 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. shift is very work-intensive. I think that would be a good shift to start out at because it helps to build up your basic skills in working in the department before moving on to handling things by yourself. Plus the hours go by really really fast when you have so much to do! I don't really have much to say on the 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. shift.

Don't be surprised at the boredom of working on a basic nursing floor. You will only have to do this on your first rotation unless you like it so much that you decide to volunteer in Telemetry...I certainly don't like working here. But I suppose that it's a good place to start out at. Very slow-paced, and people are very happy to teach you how to do things that you don't know how to do. And they really really appreciate the volunteer help.

PM me if you have any more questions

Hey all 🙂

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Welcome Hamhamfan! Good luck with COPE!

Cozmosis - I'll keep my fingers crossed that your analytical prof gives tons of partial credit lol. Although I'm sure you did better than you think you did 🙂.

I had my second physics exam yesterday. I think it went ok, but this one was weird compared to the last one. Only 2 of our 6 problems actually had numbers lol and there wasn't any circular motion at all which we had spent an entire week on...guess our prof didn't feel like looking up all the masses, radii, etc to do a good equatorial problem lol.

Our prof was then put on the local news (one of the reporters is in our class) about the sunspot stuff. His arm had to be twisted a tiny bit cuz in the past he'd always ended up on the cutting room floor, but this time they actually used a lot of his comments. It was funny to see him cuz the other guy they used too was sitting down with a background in a suit and stuff and here was Sam in a white button down, black distressed leather jacket, and scruffy goatee lol.

I took last nite off to spend some time with my bf but I definitely have way too much to accomplish this weekend lol. I have a research methods homework - only 2 more after this thank goodness...I'm getting really tired of doing excel worksheets. Then I have to do my organic lab midterm (it's online), an organic lecture homework, and a bunch of reading.

Have a good one everyone!
--Jessica, UCCS

Damn you, DST!!!😡

Its '6:34am', and I am wide awake. I've decided to fool myself into believing that all of my classes are pushed back an hour for awhile, so that I can get a truly good night's sleep on wednesday. We'll see how that goes.

I have a genetics test on thursday (got a 73 on my last... i hate multiple choice🙁 ) . I have to do really well, so I've been studying all weekend. Should be getting my envirotox test back today, and my organic test (that I already anticipate dropping) tomorrow. I've got a physics quiz this morning, which I studied before going to bed, and will probably study between now and 9:30.

I've also got to meet with my advisor at some point today. Probably before class.

Last night was my first big (ie successful) social. I've learned that the words "chocolate fondu" attracts all sorts of people-- even some who don't live on my hall. So yeah. It was surprisingly good (now they're asking me to make it every month). Yeah, speaking of chocolate, I put a big bowl of 'assorted' candy outside of my door. Mixed well, mind you. I mean, you'd have to really dig in to get your paws on all of the chocolate. But somehow they managed. Nothing left but Smarties and Bottlecaps.

Hey all 🙂

LOL Vix...I wish DLS had that sort of affect on me for the first week. Maybe I'd actually have woken up on time today if it had. I woke up at 8 yesterday but then today went right back to my not being able to fall asleep til 2 and not waking up til 8:30 vs the 6:30 I should have woken up. Sounds like you had a busy but fun weekend. I would have shown up for chocolate fondue too lol.

This week should be a relatively easy week for me. I've got an organic homework due tonite and then a quiz on thurs but other than that just one lab write-up/prelab this week. We're doing a virtual lab in orgo this week so the prelab and write up is all online and last week was just a worksheet 🙂. Workwise I'm going to try and get myself working on some reactions cuz I need to start working more hours then I have been (I've only been averaging about 10 hrs/week if even that) but there really hasn't been anything for me to do. I'm bored to death lol. Next week I'll have a cell bio exam and the following week a research methods exam and an orgo exam.

Hang in there everyone! There's only a little over a month left of the semester! Woohoo!

--Jessica, UCCS

Hitting the home stretch here, it's almost November...
I have an Orgo test Wednesday, which I feel a bit behind on, cause I need to remember all these reactions. Its the first time I've actually felt a bit behind, and its my fault for not looking at them earlier. I'm still confident though.

In Orgo lab, we're in the midst of a larger lab, so we only have a discussion Wednesday, and nothing to do. Woohoo!

In Analytical, I'll be finishing up the 4th experiment tomorrow, which I have put off, and starting and ideally finishing experiment 6 on Thursday. This should catch me up perfectly. I get my test back tomorrow, which I am kind of iffy about, but I can just hope for the best.

Econ midterm on Thursday night, and its shaping up to be fairly easy. I have a 103% average in that class 😉

+pissed+

this comp is wicked slow.

decided to take a break from A&P studying to catch up with SDN.

hope everyone had a great weekend. I partied in the city friday night and vegged out all day saturday. finally made it back home sometime early sunday and have been studying for this practical ever since. 😕 i can't remember anything anymore!!!

okay. maybe i need to take a deep breath or something.

No kidding about hitting the home stretch, Cozmosis! I've been having so much to do for my classes this semester that I haven't been able to post very much, and I assume that goes for most of the people on this board as well! 😀

Now it seems that I'll get a quiz (cough*exam*cough) every single week for the rest of the semester for Cell Biology. At least it should be easier now that it's bumped down to more digestable chunks. My classes have been mostly routine for the most part, so I didn't really bother to post much.

Yesterday after volunteering at the hospital, the CCE volunteers were called in to a general meeting of all the volunteers. At this meeting, certificates of completion were handed out (volunteers have to complete 248 hours in 12 months to get this), as well as certificates for people who did great jobs on the floors. Well, I got a certificate for the Oncology floor, though I don't really think that I deserve it after seeing how other volunteers on my floor worked just as hard as I did, or even more so. Some even enjoyed volunteering here more than I did...well, something to add to a med school interview, I suppose, if they ever ask me questions on my clinical experience.

I'm really sorry about not finding much of anything interesting to say here but it's mostly because I've been very burned out from school. I am gonna stay out of taking a Winter Intersession class this time around, and it looks like fate wishes me to start O-Chem over the summer after a browse through the classes that will be offered in the Spring semester.

Off to study for the next Cell Bio exam...

greetings everyone, seems like this thread has turned into a orgo sucks support group. So i thought I would jump in. I am putting off studying for an Orgo II exam this friday morning at 7:30!!!! I dont think anyone should function that early in the morning except doctors.......oh wait thats what i want to be, so i guess its justified

So is everyone here waiting to hear back from schools? The wait is killing me.

have a great week everyone.

Got a 100 on my physics quiz today... thats three 100s and a 50. A couple more perfect scores and I can balance out my crappy test grade😡 .

Tonight I have to finish writing up my organic lab from last week, figure out what the heck I'm supposed to do for this week's lab, then study s'more for my genetics test.

Well, since I was up at the butt crack of what used to be dawn, I decided to take some pictures around campus. Of course, when I saw the most amazing thing, my camera was about half a mile away. I was walking back from work, and there were these trees with kind of yellowish leaves. But the way the sun was hitting them (atleast I think it was the sun, it was pretty overcast otherwise) it looked like it was on fire. I ran to get my camera, but of course, by the time i got there, the sun was gone. Hopefully, there will be something similar on friday. I'll eventually put them up on my webpage. Eventually.

Hi all!

Yeah, I've got the "midterm blues" too....finding it harder and harder to study. Luckily we're kind of in a lull right now-most of this week will be spent introducing new stuff so all I have to do is study-I don't have any assigned stuff except my chem lab write-up to do.

Went out Friday night and had waaay more to drink than I needed😀 -proceeded to lay around the rest of the weekend...I'll be going out again tonight to celebrate my best friend's last day at the job she hates and has wanted to quit for over a year. And my kids are by my other friend's house overnight Thursday so I'll be going out that night too! Figure I've got to pack in a social life somewhere since the rest of the semester is going to be crazy!

Lately my husband and I have been fighting over the computer more than anything-we both seem to need to use it at the same time....must look into getting another one....

Oh well, off to anatomy lab and then off to student services to try to convince the director to let me sign up for 21 credits during spring semester...have fun all!

Ah. I got back my anal chem test. 84. Not perfect, but definitely better then I hoped.

Still have an experiment to do, and a ton of Orgo studying tonight. Arriba!

Hey everyone,

I got a phone call letting me know that I've been cast as a lead in a musical. It's an Equity production and while I'm non-Equity, I still get paid, too! 😀

The show will run for about a year but I think I'll only stick with it for a few months cause the time-committment is really high.
7 Shows a week, Wed - Sunday, starting in late November.
This is my first, non-school affiliated show and I'm freaking out about how little rehearsal time they have before the show previews (18 days). It's not the 5 - 10 weeks in advance schedule from college.

If any of you are in the DFW area over the next few months, you should come see it. PM me and I'll give you more info. It's a funny and endearing 50's vocal jazz and doo-wop show called Forever Plaid and it's being directed by one of the guys from the original NY production, so despite the fact that I'm in it, it should be entertaining. 😛

(And for those of you wondering how I'll possibly handle interviews ::fingers-crossed::, they have Swings who can cover for people in the event of absences.)

<b>Hi guys</b>
no post lately because been away for a whilebecause had study for A)my mid-terms and B)my mouse broke(it under applecare guaranty) so it took me two week 2 get a replacement . Anyway i see there is lots new people ,hello🙂

I completely agree that org chem is huuuuuh that was the only midterm i had a frankly terrrrible time specialy in a really harsh curly arrow question . I try to think POSITIVE.
MY other midterms turned faboulus B+ on history ii,philosophy A, A cell bio and a probable A/B+on psico.

Howeveri stuck at home with a horrible sinusitis .i took change to catch on whats going on at SDN

I received a very nice pm from a member saying they had been following my progression and my choice to go nursing..

was very nice

Hey all 🙂

Sorry I haven't been around much this week, but I've been sick 🙁

I have a major sinus infection lol...and it's wreaking havoc with me. But today I made it to the health center and got hooked up with an antibiotic and a really, really strong decongestant/expectorant so hopefully in a few days I'll be back to myself. I've had sinus issues all semester, but this is definitely the worst infection I've ever had lol.

Welcome autobot! Good luck on your orgo exam Fri....I have a quiz tomorrow but if I don't feel ready for it I have a doctor's note for tomorrow which will let me skip it. (Our prof will average our other scores for a score on one exam or quiz with a note.) As far as waiting on schools I'm a sophomore so I won't even be taking the MCAT for another year let alone applying lol.

Vix - congrats on your physics exam!

jenni - I know exactly what you mean...I haven't felt like studying for like 2 weeks now lol, but at least you've managed to de-stress a bit by going out a couple times 🙂. That always helps!
Why in the world do you want to take 21 credits next semester? lol....if I can get the override I may take 19 but I already feel overwhelmed as it is this semester and I only have 16 credits lol.

rager- Congrats on the musical! Forever Plaid is a great show! While the lack of prep time seems way short compared to college shows I imagine you'll be spending a lot more time each day rehearsing so it will even out. Break a leg!!

Minx - sounds like you're having a pretty good semester....congrats. Hope you feel better soon...I definitely know how you feel lol.

I really haven't done much of anything this week since I've been sick. I'm going to try and get my physics write up done tonite so I can at least do that tomorrow (I've already missed my one allowed lab in there) and then try and get ready for the orgo quiz tomorrow.

Hang in there everyone...we're over halfway there lol.

--Jessica, UCCS

Hey everyone, I just wanted to drop in by and bump up the thread and also to let the CCE's out there who volunteer for HOAG Memorial Hospital and read this thread - the next rotation comes up in November. I have a feeling that some SDN people will run into me on their training day for the Oncology department 😀

As for classes, I am still in the "heading for the home stretch" phase with nothing interesting to talk about. I didn't wanna make this post too long and bore everyone to tears. 😛

Ah... tests. I could sing a song about tests.

La de da da da... 🙄

Anyways. I'm off to give blood. Some of my lectures are giving us 5 points if we donate

Bah! I think every time I post on here I gripe. I'm so totally not like that.

Happy thought thinking begins.... now.

<i><b>Hi everyone</i></b>
After a few days under antibiotics i'm feeling better althought i still got great nasasl congestion hope you get better soon skaterbabe.🙂 🙂
Now i'm staying at home today and tomorroow I'm going to college and see i can catch up on stuff I missed.
*biodude-It seems you enjoying your volunteering.
see you...😉

bump!!!

Okay, so the week is finally over!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

I'm gonna kick back and relax until Sunday rolls around. Man this semester is lasting way way too long. I just want it to end soon. The lack of holidays may have contributed for my dislike of this school year +pissed+

My current planned schedule for Spring 2004 is:

Genetics and Molecular Biology 3 units lecture, 2 units lab

General Chemistry II 3 units lecture, 2 units lab

Asian American Studies (general ed) 3 units lecture

Advanced College Writing (upper division writing requirement) 3 units lecture

That's about 16 units, the max allowed at my school without special written permission from the administration.

Tomorrow I'll be studying for my next Cell Bio exam (Tuesday) and for my next Calculus exam (Friday) in addition to getting in some martial arts exercise and training for the ER at my hospital volunteer program. Man, I can not wait to get out of Oncology.

Hey all!

Just wanted to stop by and wish everyone a Happy Halloween. It's cold and misting icy rain around here so I don't think we'll get many trick or treaters (plus one of the youth centers has set up an indoor trick or treating thing). This is actually a good thing for me since I haven't made it out to get candy thanks to having been sick all week lol.

Everyone at school has been really cool about my being sick. My orgo prof is going to average my other quizzes to give me a score for the quiz I missed. I'll make up my orgo lab sometime next week (it's a computer simulation so no biggie), and my physics lab prof is gonna let me get the data from my lab partners and write it up even though I wasn't physically there to do the lab 🙂

Our spring schedules finally came out (somewhat anyway). I register on Dec 4th sometime around 8:30am. So far it looks like I'll be taking:

Bio 383/384 Genetics + lab (5 credits)
Chem 332/334 Organic II + lab (5 credits)
PES 102/215 Physics II + lab (5 credits)
Bio 455 Biomechanics and Kinesiology (3 credits)

for a total of 18 credits. The only thing I'm waiting on is finding out whether they are offering Bio 310/311 Bacteriology/Mycology + lab at a time I could fit in which would make my total 19 credits and need an override. I really don't know that I could get the override anyway so I'm not too worried about it. I like this schedule anyway. The only bad thing is that genetics is at 8am 3 times a week which will totally suck cuz I'm soo not a morning person lol. Also Thursdays will still totally suck cuz I'll have Genetics lecture, Orgo lab, Orgo lecture, and Physics lecture all in a row. (I assume I'll get out of orgo lab early most of the time tho and be able to get something to eat then like I do now). Mon and Wed I'll actually be done by 1:30 but I'll work til 5:30 on those days. My labs will be more spread out this time too, physics on Tues, Orgo on Thurs, and Genetics on Fri.

Minx - I'd trade your nasal congestion for my sore ear/thorat/mouth/swollen glands anyday lol. After a few days on antibiotics I'm feeling less muddled tho so that I can actually concentrate on studying a bit lol. I'll definitely be playing major catch up this weekend lol.

Biodude - I'm definitely ready for the semester to be over with too lol. I still have 6 weeks before finals tho 🙁. At least one of those weeks includes Thanksgiving tho 🙂. Sounds like you've got a good spring schedule planned. I'll keep my fingers crossed you get everything you want this time 🙂.

Anyway I'm off to work on some cell bio (exam on Wed in there).
Later all!

hi
I hope you had a nice <font color="orangered">Happy Halloween •
Skaterbabe- I have to say i just felt like that for at least the first three days ,now I'm feeling much better an not even my ears are sore. don't after aweek on those antiobiotics a you'll feel just fine.😉

i still have not done my schedule definetively Calculus I has to be there some where , however whether to take physics I or organic chem II next semester.what your opinion?0

This weekend i 've got to catch up a lot of stuff seeyou,
bye

OMG. I just saw the most f'ed up movie ever. Its called "May," and its about this chick who gets fed up with people calling her weird, so she decideds to build her own friend... out of human parts. Happy Halloween!

Yeah. My week was pretty blah.

A funny/sad/disturbing story. We're a women's college and all, and some RAs and peer health advisors choose to leave bowls of condoms outside of their room. Well, the children of faculty and children who go to the campus school usually come trick or treating in the dorms the night before halloween around 8 or 9. Of course, the RA on that hall didn't expect kids parading around before 6. Sooooo when she returns to her room around 7:45, she finds her bowl of condom's empty. The peer health advisor didn't find her bowl at all, but a nasty note from a parent. So yeah. Some 5-8 year olds are going to get their birds and bees lecture early. I just hope none mistook it for bubblegum.

But yeah. classes I'm taking next semester:

Organic Chemistry II (4 ch)
Waves & Heat (3 ch)
Linear Algebra (3 ch)
Comparative Islamic Politics (3 ch)
Special Topics in Latin American Studies: Public Health and the Politices of modernity in Latin America, 1880-1950 (3 ch)

Not bad. Only 1 lab. Should give me much more time to work.

There are sooo many posts since my last.

rager1, minx- Congrats:clap:

minx, skaterbabe74- Get well soon! The sickies must be spreading through SDN ... now I'm sick, too🙁

biodude, skaterbabe74, lilithny, cozmosis- Good luck on your exam(s)! I'm sure (you'll do/you did) well.

lilithny- 5 pts to donate?!? All we got was pizza🙁

jenni- might I suggest a Mac?😉

Have a good weekend, all. I'll be studying my butt off.

Hey people!

How's goin'?

Haha after 6 freaking midterms in a week! I survive. Sheesh, I have this big dark sag under my eyes. I have been constantly getting 2-4 hours sleep for the past 9 days! But I had 11 hours sleep yesterday. I need lemon to get rid of that sag. Nonetheless, I did look pretty sacray yesterday halloween without custome and make-up. Hhahah

Oh, after a 7 hours gruesome checkup in the emergency room yesterday evening, just found out that I have an ovarian cyst! Heck! I can care less.

Anyway, did pretty well on 5 exams and I think I flunked the last one!

Take care everyone!

Wow sounds like a tough week of studenting and being sick! I hope everybody is feeling better. Anyone have an exciting time for Halloween? Keep up the good work, but don't study too hard 😉

I had an interesting week. On Friday, our Organic teacher almost collapsed in class. I'm not sure what exactly happened, but he said he wasn't feeling very good, and he drifted in and out of consciousness a couple times while some medically trained individuals in the class helped him out. The paramedics came, but he was awake and everything when they were there. Hope he's ok. I did get a 94 on my 4th Orgo test though.

Our schedules came out a week ago, and I'm looking at some classes. Here's what I plan my schedule to be:

Organic 2
Physics 1
A really cool advanced chem lecture class on Weapons of Mass Destruction
Either A&P 1, A BS computer class thats an easy A, or both.

I'll figure it out. See you all on the flip side.

Cozmosis why must you always make me feel about my grade...
I am not getting As in my organic chemistry I.

Next semester I might take OrgoII, Bio II, Statistics and French literature, but I must past Orgo I first.

Since everyone is posting their Spring schedule, I suppose I will as well. Mine is pretty much set in stone since I'm pretty much done, using up that extra year between applying and hopefully matriculating to do music.

Spring 2004:

Physics II 3 hrs
Physics I Lab 1 hr
Organic Chemistry II 3 hrs
Intro to Music Theory 3 hrs
National Security Policies of the U.S. 3 hrs
Intermediate Karate 1 hr

Total of 14 hours. I figure I'd take it easy since I'm also taking the MCAT in April. I was debating on dumping the poli sci general ed class to fit in another science to bump up my MD science GPA, but I decided not to. A 0.04 point of an increase won't matter.

My DO science/cumulative GPA is currently around a 3.40

I can't wait to get back into the karate class and whoop on some karate guys with a real martial art.

Here's my schedule up until graduation:

Summer I 2004:
Statistics for the Psychologist 3 hrs
Another 500-level psyc or a gen ed course 3 hrs

Summer II 2004:
Psychology Lab 2 hrs
Physics II Lab 1 hr

Fall 2004:
Music Theory II 3
Sightsinging I 1
Jazz Improv I 3
Music History 3
Latin-American History 3
Jazz Ensemble 1
Private Lessons 2

Spring 2005:
Music Theory III 3
Jazz Theory I 3
Sightsinging II 1
Jazz Improv II 3
Last General Ed 3
Jazz Ensemble 1

Sorry TCB, just a victim of a really good teacher and 6 small tests. I can guarantee I'd do worse otherwise.

As far as my schedules all the way to next spring semester, wow, I don't know. Depends how things fall out. I know I'll be taking Physics 2 over the summer. I'm pretty sure I'm taking 1 of my 3 remaining gen eds in minimester in the Winter.

The fall will definitely have P-Chem, Biochem, P-Chem lab, and Forensic Chem. With a gened probably added in there or something like that. I will then have only one Chem class left to take, and about 1 gened.

Whee!

Hey all 🙂

I'm feeling much better. Yay...lol. Now I just have to figure out how the heck to catch up on everything lol. I think I spent 10 hrs catching up on cell bio Sat, and several hours doing orgo on Sun but I was already studied out from my session on Sun lol. I've got an exam in cell on Wed (hopefully I've actually caught up on everything that we'll be doing on this exam - we've been behind from almost the beginning). Then I have a research methods exam next Monday, and an Orgo exam that Thurs. Plus I have a research methods assignment to do this week, 2 physics write ups (one of which I need to get the data for), probably a physics homework, an orgo homework, and an orgo prelab. Plus I have to fit in an extra orgo lab this week (but at least that's all computerized so there isn't a write-up for it). I hate getting sick!!!

Minx - Between orgo II or Physics I I think I'd choose orgo II simply cuz I'd be worried about forgetting some of the reactions if I took a break between the two semesters lol.

Hermeone - Holy cow! 6 midterms in a week?!? Sounds like you'll be in good shape if you go to a med school that has Black Mondays lol. I wish I could survive for a week on that little sleep, but my body shuts down and I don't hear my alarm unless I've had at least 5 hrs sleep lol. Actually even more I wish I could go to bed and just fall asleep instead of having to be in bed for like 8 hrs just to get the 5 hrs sleep cuz it's taking me that long just to fall asleep lol.

Coz - Congrats on your orgo exam! Hope your prof is ok. Weapons of Mass Destruction huh? Sounds like fun:laugh: . We don't have any fun classes like that at my school lol.

TCB - Hang in there with orgo lol. I'm right there with you just trying to get a C or higher so I can take Orgo II lol. What sucks is that I actually "like" orgo I just can't quite seem to keep it all straight when it comes to the exams yet.

I've figured out my "ideal" schedule all the way til graduation too just cuz so many of my classes are only offered certain semesters or even certain years. Whether it will really work out this way or not we'll see lol.

Ideally I'll have:
Sum '04: Biopsych and calculus for sure (maybe a film/his/lit/psy/or philo class just for the fun of it)

Fall '04: Analtyical Chem + lab, Injury Prevention, Biochem I, Health and Fitness, and Exercise Physiology

Spring '05: Bacteriology/Mycology + lab, Pathobio, Human Metabolism, Biochem II, Biochem lab

I plan on taking my MCATs Apr '05

Fall '05: Immunology, Lab methods in sports science, Senior seminar, Biomechanics of Musculoskeletal Injury, an Eng lit class that meets my oral comm req, a humanities class, and a psych class

Spring '06: Analtyical methods in sports physiology, Molecular genetics, Molecular genetics lab, Virology + lab, and Vertebrate embryology

Graduation!!

I know it's all science but being a nontrad I've had all of my gen eds (except for oral comm and humanities) done for a long time lol.

I'll just be glad to be done with all of my prereqs and all of my "required" classes for the bio major after this year 🙂.

Now I'm off to take a shower and get ready to leave. I hate being up this early!! lol. I wake up before sunrise, and get home after dark. Thank goodness I have to go outside between classes or I'd barely get to see the daylight lol. Have a good week everyone!
