Has anyone started to receive secondaries yet? I've applied to a lot of state schools, and was waiting to hear from them before I fork over any more $ for private schools. I don't see my schools (AZ, NM, CO, IN, and MD) on the 2007 secondary thread, but I'm starting to get nervous...anyone else?

I wouldn't be to nervous, we are only in the beginning stages of the secondary cycle. Once mid-late july hits, we should be hearing more.

Yeah--I was just going to say that. The thread listing what secondaries are out helps you to see that few schools have sent the invites.

I believe the only new one so far today is Rush.

I think a lot of schools are waiting for the first BIG batch of applicants to send out mass emails. I am getting more and more figidity as my AMCAS remains untouched 😡

On a side note, I need to eat healthier, sitting here working on essays and eating fast food is really making me feel like crap

For everyone's information, my f-ing laptop died last night. To add insult to injury, Amazon.com can't get me my new one until MONDAY! No secondaries for me this weekend! **** ME! I will probably end up camped out on my friend's sofa, using his computer, or freaking doing pen and paper. I don't think I have written anything on pen and paper for like, years!!! Of course I needed to spend all this $$$ right now, right in the middle of secondaries. Jebus! What next? 👎

Laptops know that we need them. The keyboard on mine is hosed and the ("o" and "p") and ("l" and ";"), etc keys are all electronically "stuck" together This happened RIGHT after I started working on my applications. Fortunately I kept all my essays on a USB key thing and finished them on my work laptop.

I feel your pain. When your new one gets here and you get all of your data off the old one, go ahead and smash the old one to pieces. It will REALLY make you feel better.

I agree with you, Jackie. That seems like a weird comment.

I'm so sorry to hear about your laptop, hon! They always crap out when you need them the most! Mine crapped out last year the day before my senior project report was due...I almost had a heart attack. I hope you get a new one soon! I know it's frustrating (and I completely understand that this is totally not the time to be spending more money on things other than secondaries), but you're ahead of the game, and I think you will bounce back ok! 😍

i guess it didn't come across very clearly. i was just joking that if she was upset or figgidity that she has yet to receive any secondaries she should have checked the columbia box since they give secondaires to everyone.

That sucks...I just got a brand new MacBook Pro...but I discovered that AMCAS doesn't support Safari or Firefox, so I had to download Netscape...possibly the worse web browser ever invented.

What's even weirder is that when you try logging into AMCAS using firefox under linux, they won't even let you do that. Gives you a "your operating system is not supported" error. What gives? I mean, does it really matter than much what OS is being used as long as the browser displays the page correctly?

IN only sends out 2ndaries to the people it plans to interview.

Really? That begs the question as to why the secondary is required at all...they can simply ask those questions in an interview setting, since they already plan on taking the time to meet with you. Hmmhhh...maybe it's just for the $$$. Is there an application fee?

So I knocked on the door of the next apartment over around 11pm on a Tuesday, begging the guys to let me use their computer for a brief second so I could change my password to something z-less. The looks on their faces were priceless.

Ah yes...it's hard for them to let go. I was (and still am) the only person in my family to graduate from college...so this med school thing is going to be huge to them. I think they're a little concerned that I might feel like I'm too good for them when all is said and done...crazy people I tell ya!

I just used a $10 USB keyboard to get me through the rough times, but USB keyboards, onscreen keyboards, etc are all a pain for a laptop.

Yeah, laptops are pretty much the only thing where it is worth it to buy the extended warranty. I learned that lesson when my first laptop (a $2500 Compaq) bit it 1 month out of warranty. 🙁 (i.e. 1 year, and 1 month after I bought it.)

Luckily Visa will extend your warranty for up to a year, but that was pure luck that I realized that...
