Theoretical Scenario - OB Anesthesia

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
first question with urgent csection from me is asking OB if I have time to try a spinal. If not, off to sleep.

here is my real world decision process.

Urgent/stat c-section determination by OB
As we roll in room I ask OB if I have time to try a spinal
If yes...spinal
If no...night night

Where I am now, plenty of times they will call for a “emergent” c-section. I will be the first one to show up…. There has been times I will be looking for the fuking ob, and some poor ob resident come in and proclaim that we have time for a spinal. If I have the time for a spinal, then it’s not an emergency.

Exactly.

The only exception is if a can't intubate/can't ventilate scenario is guaranteed, which is a difficult scenario to conjure up.

the only ones I've had close to that, had a discussion with the OB when I met the patient that there would be no such thing as a stat section on the patient and we had to go early
