haha, i wonder if i ran into you. there was an asian chick, a guy, and some other girl who had to leave early in the afternoon.

Confettiflyer, did you happen to do a student interview on April 11th? If so, I asked you 5 million questions! Me and another girl...the guys in our group were....silent.

Were you in the morning group? if so, I interviewed you... with ghettohomeboy over there... haha, although i've interviewed so many I can't remember anyone at this point!

edit: after stalking your other posts I remember you! Congrats on getting in. and yes, you def asked a million question... but it shows that you're interested in our school which is always a good thing. =)

Thanks to you guys for dealing with the rapid fire from me and the other young lady and for coming out to interview us on such a sucky rainy Saturday morning!

And remember... you're only ~14 months younger than I am. Not much there!

lol, who's "us"...ADN would have said the same thing, I just beat her to the punch. hahah

Now if Yen was on here too... she can claim to be under 28... don't push it pal and learn to respect your elders. 😀

Yes yes I always respect my elders. Would you like a cane as a graduation present? =)

how's everyone doing? good? congrats to those who recently got accepted👍. i am so envious of you!!!! i wonder how long is the waitlist for TJU and when it will be my turn to get pulled off the list. anyone thinking of travelling this summer?

Anybody receive their loan offers yet? I completed all the financial aid forms and sent in all required documents about 10 days ago but haven't gotten anything yet. How long will it take them to process?

I sent mine in over a month ago, everything is completed, but still haven't gotten anything either. I think it may be later in the summer when we get offers?

Thanks! Are you done with all the immunizations? I still need my meningococcal vaccine and MMR immunity. Did you get all the blood drawn out for the MMR all in the same day? I have an appointment with the doctor for a physical exam in 2 weeks and I'm not quite sure if I can get those done all in the same day.

I checked BannerWeb again, I received some loan offers and 1 grant. So I think you should hear from them soon.

I am almost done with my immunization, just 1 more to go, the chicken pox vaccine. I did all the titers at once because they drew my blood, then took a week to get everything analyzed. I didn't go to my doctor for physical. Instead I went to my university's health center, it was cheaper.

For immunization shots, I went to my county public health department, it was so much cheaper than anywhere else! I saved at least $100 on the meningitis shot alone.

Thanks violetkayak!! You are very helpful! 😀 I definitely agree on the county health department. I got some shots for free there!!

Thanks! I try to answer what I can, but free shots?! Sweet! I had to pay some, but nothing compare to what it would've cost. Hope you hear back from financial aid soon!

i got free shots at some public clinic back home...

my doctor said that the meningitis one would cost 120 bucks or something around that price so i said f' that and didn't get it done.

i eventually got it for free at the jefferson health center though.

I'm just wondering... How much of the Grad PLUS loans are you guys borrowing? I applied for the max amount for the Federal Stafford. I also applied for the TJU Institutional loans. I haven't gotten any offers yet so I'm not quite sure how much I should borrow for the Grad PLUS. Any ideas? 😕

I haven't received my financial aid info either..

I mailed out info that I didn't know they were missing last Tuesday and as of today they STILL haven't received it, so I don't know what happened with that.

I have also never taken out an educational loan before so I'm still learning how they work.. should I be looking into getting loans right now? I guess since we're three-ish months from matriculation....

The award offered, the total loans (sub+unsub+grant+TJU Loan) without Grad+ is $41,500 and the estimated cost of attendance is $46,854 ... I'm unsure about loaning another $5,000 from Grad+ ... well, at least we still have a bit of time to decide ... just looking at the amount of loans and interests on the loans make me want to cry.

Ic... thanks! You actually got a grant? I thought they only give out grants to undergrad.

Anyway, I currently do not have health insurance. I'm searching around for different types of healthcare plans. Do you think Jefferson's health insurance is a better deal? Any ideas from the current students?

The school's health insurance is really extensive and good but its costly... I think around 3k/year... since I feel that i'm pretty healthy and only need annual check ups I went ahead and just got health insurance on my own. There are specific criterias that jeff requires so make sure you're choosing an insurance the meets this. I went with healthinsurance.org and compared a bunch of them... Golden rule is cheap and has worked out well for me with around $130/month premiums... its almost 1/2 the price of Jeff's

I agree with ADN, if you can help it, don't get the school's insurance. You won't use half of the services they provide. I spent 3k this year to get a flu shot and a few clinic visits. Bear in mind, the 3k comes out of your fin aid reimbursement and you do not get compensated for paying more for medical insurance. As a result, I ate out less, shopped less, and have less left over now. Bitter much? Yea just a little. So take my word for it, find a cheap plan that meets the requirements and you should be set.

yeah, school insurance = rip off if you're relatively healthy. If you have a chronic condition and are unable to get independent coverage, then the group coverage is the way to go.

Thank you all for the helpful replies! I really appreciate it. 😀

Hello everyone! I havent been on SDN in a while, had some issues going on at home, but anyway, i hope everyone is doing well!

I was trying to finish up my financial aid application stuff, but i cant seem to figure out how to do the "federal entrance quiz" or whatever its called on the access group site... I had registered and everything but i didnt see a link on the website to where the quiz is located... can someone help me pleasee 🙁

Wow its almost 47k a year!! dang! I am working this summer to pay off my credit card but i dont think i can pay off all of it... I think i will have about 2k left over hopefully by the end of the summer... I wont be working in my first semester of pharmacy school though... AGH! I dont know what Im gonna do to pay off that stupid card! Do you get enough loan $$ to pay that off with...? Im so confused... help please... :scared:

Has anybody heard anything about housing?

Since orientation is the 13th, I'm assuming I'll have to move in early August.. and I was hoping I would be able to book plane tickets but I haven't heard anything. Does anyone know when we should expect housing arrangements to arrive? I haven't heard about my financial aid yet, either.

Yeah, just pay off your CC with the fin-aid money when it disburses in the fall.

I will still be covered under my dad's insurance, since I will be a full-time student, until I am 25. But because it's an HMO it doesn't cover me for dr visits in PA, only urgent care & emergency room visits.

So I was thinking, since Jefferson's health insurance is so expensive, that I would find a basic plan that meets Jefferson's requirements for me to waive health insurance in the fall but continue using my dad's coverage if I need to get prescriptions or if I get sick (since basic health insurance plans come with huge deductibles).

I'm assuming this is okay? I know Jefferson requires enrollment in health insurance until 8/31/10, but I'm assuming since I will be covered under 2 health insurances it will be fine.

(I have so many questions.. my parents were talking about switching to a PPO so I will be covered when I move east, but didn't tell me that their deductible would be $2,500.. they also didn't tell me that health insurance renewal is due tomorrow so I didn't look into getting my own coverage until right now.)

Thanks Confetti and Nerv1234! God knows how much I've bothered you confetti with all this stuff lol But it is very very appreciated 😳 lol

I hope this will make some lucky person out there happy, but I won't be coming to Jefferson this fall. I've sent my letter of declination, so hopeful someone will be pulled off the waitlist if it's not too late. It's been a pleasure meeting everyone and I hope y'all the best in all endeavors.

I recently contacted Jefferson about applying for Fall 2010 admission. They don't offer academic forgiveness and this scares me. They are one of my top choices. Even though they are a private school, do they prefer to take in-state students?

There's no preference for any particular geographic region, what we have in class is reflective of the applicant pool (lots of Delaware valley folks + Californians).

The only school I know of that offers academic forgiveness is USN in Henderson, NV + South Jordan, UT. I'm sure there are others.

If your undergrad GPA is weak, make sure your final 2 years of your BS/BA have an upward trend. If it was mediocre all around, take classes to raise it (like you would with any other school). Score at least an 85 on the PCAT, and you just might have a good chance.

I don't think the admitted student profiles of fall '08 and fall '09 will be indicative of the profiles of fall '10...if you look at all the schools that opened throughout the 00's, GPA/PCAT precipitously rise each successive year. I don't know the numbers for us, but I do know the # of applications essentially doubled from '08 to '09.

Just a word of encouragement to everyone applying for '10 and '11 to step it up 👍

I think continuing with your parents' insurance and also finding another insurance plan for PA that meets Jefferson's requirements would be fine. Their insurance is pretty standard, the tricky part is finding insurance plans that meet the mental health portion. Good luck in doing so. I'm going to start looking for a different insurance plan as well to replace the [rip off]TJU one I now have.

My question is for current Jefferson students, what kind of student projects/internships are available to you? Do you have time to squeeze an internship during the year or do you pretty much have to wait 'till the summer to be involved in such projects?

Thanks!

Hi to all my future JSP classmates! Can't wait to meet all of you!!!

I need a few interns to follow me around and carry my books. I'll pay you in cheesesteaks. 👍

Hmmm...NorCal people 🙄 Anyone else with a more constructive response??? 🙂

Haha, thats just typical of Confetti.

As for your question, i'm not sure what kind of projects you are talking about... for most of us, if we work, its interning at a pharmacy aka tech job. I got involved with researching with a professor but could only fit in ~3hrs/week... which is not a lot of time for projects... but i'm finishing it up during this summer.

Thats it as far as I know from my classmates. Were pretty busy studying all semester.

Hope that helps!

hi everyone, has anybody gotten pulled off the waitlist recently? ive been hearing nothing from the school except for an email from karen saying that im still on their waitlist.🙄
