the interview process is pretty laid-back, more so compared to other schools. the faculty members that i interviewed with were extremely nice and responsive. just look over the interview page for TJU.. be a good story-teller without sounding rehearsed. they asked me to describe what i did or will do in certain situations, at least in my interview. also, come in with good questions! there will be a question and answer portion with current students, and the faculty kept asking me if i had anymore questions both at the beginning and end of my interview. i found it helpful if you need to take a breather and a good opportunity to get any concerns answered. good luck!

haahaaa, temple is fighting for applicants from jefferson. So do you all just like jefferson better, or just don't want to do anymore interviews? I always thought having more options is a luxury.
 
Does anybody have good hotel suggestions for the interview? I called Hampton and Holiday and they both are 100+ a night for the day I'm arriving. I'd like to have shuttle service to and from airport as well as to and from the school. I would also like to avoid renting a car. Thanks!

try bidding on a hotel on priceline and choose the downtown philadelphia area.
i stayed at the marriott for $60 when it's normally over $100 a night.
 
I stayed at the holiday inn they recommended. it is within walking distance of the school campus. So you don't have to worry about renting a car, but it is over 100 a night. but they say it is a few blocks from their subway system which is connected to the airport. check this option.
 
I stayed at hampton, and told them I was with Jefferson Hospital and payed 80 a night, and got one night free because there was a rat in my room. good deal!
 
oh! i forgot to mention marriott has a shuttle service to and from the airport.
it was on market street and only a 10 min walk to the school.
however, before the interview, i opted to take a taxi which was only like $7 and then walked back to the hotel after my interview to get a feel for the area.
 
No offense Temple is in the ghetto and costs more than Jeff for out of state applicants. And for some people a 200+ class size.

The Loew's hotel is amazing. And it's maybe four blocks from the school. Everything is in walking distance and the Reading Market it a block away, and that's where we are a majority of our meals.

For me, it isn't an issue of being tired of interviews, if my first or second choice were to invite me, I would be at their campus in a heartbeat. To be quite honest, I see Jefferson and Temple as "eye to eye", each having their strengths and weaknesses.

With Temple, it's the fact that the school has full accreditation and the program has a good overall reputation. Downside for me personally is that I won't have a car, I want to live on-campus or very close by and it seems that isn't a real option at Temple. TJU's campus is amazing, in safe area, and an ample (although pricey) amount of apartments within a good size radius. Also another incentive seems to be TJU's new facilities and the fact that its affiliated hospital is again very close by. Also, being from a smaller liberal arts college I have become more comfortable with a low student to prof ratio, TJU's entering class is roughly only 75. Cost wise, both schools are roughly the same (not sure which school offers better scholarships)


Also, going to TJU will allow me to accomplish my other goals, including finding out the true indentity of ConfettiFlyer, sneaking into his apartment and taking food from his fridge. :meanie::laugh:👍

Well that's just great, now I am going to have to really think out this whole Jeff vs. Temple issue. I remembered seeing an old Costco receipt you posted up, I'm greatly disappointing, am I supposed to starve at Jefferson now? (I'll take the beer anyway)

I'm going to costco this weekend, you're catching the fridge at the tail-end of the cycle.

btw I have two fridges, the other one is drinks only. only reason the beer is in fridge #1 is because there's no room in fridge #2.

Thanks for the suggestion! I guess I'll look for a room at Marriott! As long as I have the shuttle to and from the airport. I guess walking to the school isn't bad either if it's only 10 minutes!

i personally liked jefferson when i visited. the faculty and employees were nice and accommodating. liked the area where the school is located. yes, i agree that it is affiliated with the hospital which is great for me since i want to go into a more clinical route. the tuition fee is less expensive. coming from a huge university for undergrad, i am looking forward to having a close-knit community of 75 people rather than 200, and a closer relationship with the professors. i did talk to the faculty about their credentials and seems like most transferred from USP and other renowned institutions so they are experienced in the field. i also asked them about how they are coping with the adjustment phase and from their responses, they really take into consideration the students opinions about their curriculum/program and are open to change. as far as accreditation, they were offered a candidate status and students are able to sit for the board exam. as far as i see it, it is just a matter of formality in the next couple of years. but then again, that's just me. unless anyone can convince me otherwise???

i stayed at loew's hotel for $80. i strolled to campus in about 8 minutes the day of my interview. i made the mistake of paying $30 for a taxi when in fact you could just take the subway/train to and from the airport for $7. 😡 it stops at market, which is also walking distance from the hotel and campus.

Marriott is nice...get lunch at Reading Terminal across the street, DO NOT eat at the sushi place there.

If you're not used to the ghetto (i see you're from OC), be warned that there are a few blocks between the Marriott and Jeff that are full of check cashing stores, run down DVD and cell phone shops, a handful of homeless people and discharged psych pt's, and sometimes these really loud protesters that give me that "black panther" vibe.

Just an FYI...it's safe during the day, and on the weekends the crowd tends to be better, so you might luck out and not run into any of this.

If it's raining, don't risk getting splashed in your interview outfit and just take a cab...they're usually lined up outside the marriott.

also...for everyone staying at a hotel w/out a shuttle, call Lady Liberty Shuttle at (215) 724-8888 the day before you leave to set a pick up time. if they ask you what time your flight is...subtract 30 mins. Other than that, they're great. Upon initial arrival to PHL, head to a ground transportation counter at baggage and tell them you want a ride to center city with lady liberty shuttle. They'll page you when they pull up to the curb and you'll be on your way. It's $10 each way + tip. Cab is $28 + tip = $34-35.

Other option is taking the train from the airport ($7) directly into center city.

dopefreshgirl -- the train station is literally right next to the marriott (Market East Station) directly across from the Reading market I mentioned. Just FYI in case the marriott shuttle isn't running or running late. Train might get you into the city faster vs. waiting for the hotel shuttle.

:laugh: Yes, I was hoping to meet him on my interview day as well.. But I was told that most of the PS's were taking their final at the time. 🙄

I can see how it would be a difficult decision to make as these schools are about on par, perspectively. We have to consider what's most important to us, and factor in the costs, time and effort required to go through with the process. I think Jefferson has a really bright future ahead of it and many of us would be happy there. As a last resort, perhaps you could try postponing the interview to a later date so you'd have more time to hear from your top choice schools?

As a side note: Temple's class size is 150, not 200. Also, it's part of a large health sciences center and is close to the Temple University Hospital as well (about a block away). Good luck everyone. 🙂
 
FINALLY GOT IN!!!!!
I interviewed on jan 16th, and I'm happy to finally say I can join the club of future Pharmacist. I couldn't stand the wait anymore, so I contacted Stephen Doll, and he said I scored great on the interview, and that I'm accepted.

FOR THOSE STILL WAITING TO HEAR.....
He said the interview committee met on Wed. Jan 20th, and made decisions. The Admmssions coordinator of TJU is going through all the pre req courses of everyone who they accepted and will send an official email 7-10 business days from the 20th. So this should be soon.

I interviewed on the 16th too, i cannot wait to get my answer. I guess i'll know in a couple days!
 
I had my interview on 18th, and I just got my acceptance this monday (25th)🙂

???? and why is there only 11 interview feedbacks for this school, when there are all these people on here who say they have and are interviewing??? People need to stop being selfish or lazy and post their advice and experiences for the up and coming. because SDN has helped all of us out.

I posted my feedback the minute I got back to the hotel from my interview...but most of the people in my interview were getting on a plane and going back to their homes right afterward and it may have slipped their minds...

Hey guys, I'm also deciding on whether or not I should take the interview for Temple. I'm far from Philly (live in Cali), so it's not too easy for me to just interview and see what happens. I would really appreciate advice from current pharm students on the strength of TempleSOP's rep compared to that of JSP.

I plan to apply to jobs in Cali (mostly rural, all over the place basically)... am I more likely to be hired having graduated from Temple over Jefferson? I don't think it would make a difference (and like a lot of you, I'm pretty set on Jeff) but I don't really know much about this either.

So, I talked to some friends in the health field and one of them gave a good comparison between JSP and a hypothetical pharmacy school at UC Davis, which has a reputable and very selective med school. Since Jefferson is known to have great med/health professional schools, the pharm. school will presumably be held to a high standard. I think school rep is a big factor in deciding between Jeff and Temple and everyone I've talked to agrees that JSP will most likely have a strong reputation by time I graduate in 4 years. So, I'm def going to Jefferson! I'm excited to move to Philly and meet all of you in the Fall 🙂

I ran into a Jeff med student while I was trying to find my way to Edison Building on the day of my interview. On the walk there, she raved about the pharmacy school and seemed to have a lot of respect for the pharmacy students who go there. I suppose med and pharm students work alongside each other on several occasions, which is great. But her attitude really impressed me and speaks volumes about the program overall. I have a friend who goes to Temple and I'm still waiting for a response in terms of her opinion on the school and area. I believe there are students who went to Temple for their undergrad but opted to go to Jeff for pharm school? I wish I could have asked them why..
 
Anyone have any suggestions on what type of questions to ask the interviewers? I have read a lot of information about the school and I can't really think of any questions I'd like to ask.....all the ones I've come up with sound lame🙁.

Questions to ask the interviewers huh? Well I had my interview on 1/16, and was accepted last thursday (I intend to go to Jefferson as I was really impressed with the school, and the students that I got to talk with during the interview really revered the school).

But back to the questions, One of my favorites is: "What do you think the strengths of the school are and what sets it apart from other pharmacy schools." (I've been told by several interviewers that it was a very good question and one had actually said it was a tough one!)

Another question is "what is availability of the professors, i.e. how accommodating are they outside of class if you have questions."

Can't think of anything else at the moment, but if I do I'll post 'em

And good luck to all those that have upcoming interviews, I hope I'll see you come august.
 
Hey I see that a couple people have been accepted recently that interviewed on Jan. 16. I was just wondering if there is anybody that is still waiting on their response. I interviewed on the same day and am still waiting. 🙁
 
for those who want to know, the interview is very straight forward, the staff at jefferson are really nice people. Even if your a lil nervous they seem to help u calm down. I loved the campus its right in the heart of philadelphia.
if ne one has more questions feel free to ask me
 
I interviewed on the 16th also and I'm still waiting for a response as well! I even tried calling them last friday and nobody would answer. And I called several numbers throughout the day. I'm worried that since I haven't heard back by now that means I'm not going to be accepted.

I interviewed on the 16th also and I'm still waiting for a response as well! I even tried calling them last friday and nobody would answer. And I called several numbers throughout the day. I'm worried that since I haven't heard back by now that means I'm not going to be accepted.
 
I had mine on the 18th and I haven't heard back anything myself 🙁 (I thought I did well on the interview and have a good GPA & PCAT)
 
I had my interview on jan. 16th too, and still no reply. Someone on here said that jefferson had a meeting on jan 20th to decide who got accepted and we should know 7-10 days late because they have to check everyones pre-reqs who got accepted. So, don't think you didn't get accepted because they are still looking at pre-reqs.
 
Jefferson is still conducting interviews at least up to February 20 so they can't fill up the whole class just yet

When we stayed at the Loew's, we got a great deal too. We didn't realize how close the train station was the hotel! I got an interview at Temple now, and we are trying to figure out where we are going to stay because we want to stay closer to Jefferson...
 
I just came back from my interview. I stayed at the Hilton garden inn. It was really close to campus..about a 5min walk. I got the hotel for about 67 dollars per night, by naming my own price on priceline. Parking was another $27. I loved the campus and the city and the interview was really relaxed. Now, I just have to wait...

tripadvisor is a good resource for checking out hotels and getting prices for them from multiple online vendors
 
i hope we all hear from them soon. this anticipation is killing me.
 
I just talked to someone at the pharmacy school today. She said if you interviewed on the 16th you still might not hear back for another 2-3 weeks.
