I am devastated. I copied one sentence of a response and neglected to change the school name. All other essays were completely and uniquely written for that school and one sentence in one response is going to doom me. Should I just write the school off as it is unlikely they would want someone who overlooked such a glaring mistake or should I reach out to the school and ask to modify the secondary? Either way I’m probably screwed. Sadly it is one of my top 3 schools.

Sorry, this is going to sink you for this school.

You still have two top schools.

Have multiple eyeballs vet your writing.

If they let you modify your secondary essays, they'll have to let EVERYBODY do it.

Fine, you accidentally added some teaspons of salt rather than sugar into your iced tea. Move on. They may not summarily dismiss you if your other application elements still make you interesting to interview. But as pointed out, you still have 2 other "top choices."

I am sure that mistake hurts. However, calling attention to it will not make it better. Set your writing aside after you finish so that you can proof it with fresh eyes--and ears. When you pick it up again, read it out loud, listen to it aloud using the "read aloud" function in Word, and, if possible, get someone else to proof it.
