Tmdsas 2010

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I submitted on the 14th of June, and my application final changed to the "submitted to schools" status today. How long after the apps are "submitted to schools" will it take for an actual person at the schools to review it?

althouth new TMDSAS is significantly better than the old one, I still found it pretty annoying. I'm glad I'm done with it.

My TMDSAS still hasn't been sent to the schools. 🙁 I submitted it 6/12... but it took awhile for my transcript to get there (as in it finally arrived a week ago). Hopefully that doesn't delay things too much.

Does your LOR says 0 received too?

No, they got my committee packet and transcripts a few weeks back before I submitted...the transcripts are the only thing I wonder about.

Do you mind telling me how did you submit your committee packet? I wonder if I made a mistake in the submission process.
Thanks
I'm from UT Austin by the way.

My adviser sent it, I believe digitally.

Did you turn in the committee packet request form? I believe that's why TMDSAS didnt' get my committee packet, but my school says its not necessary.

ah UT Austin... good school... Tell Blake Gideon thank you for me would you?

nah i'm kidding, yall will rape us next year.

I know that the "received" section is dictated by the registration of the bar code on the form upon arrival, so if your form was not included, the committee packet could not show as received, as someone has not manually gone in and changed that yet. They may have it, but the system doesn't recognize it. Definitely something to call and bug either Anne or Nicole about (I'm sure they hate me by now for precisely that, but I love 'em).

Lucky, I submitted mine on the 14th as well, and they still haven't sent mine to the schools yet. Hopefully, they will send them on Monday, or at least that's what I'm hoping.

Does anybody know how to send TMDSAS update transcripts? I sent them one previously with winter quarter grades (they said this was fine) thinking that I would submit before spring grades come out, but now they're out and I want to send them another transcript. The only problem is, I can't access the page to print out another transcript request form, since it's marked as received where it normally shows the link. Has anyone else ran into this problem?

It says on the webpage not to ask about such things, but all my transcripts except ONE are in. I sent all my requests on the same day, and AACOMAS already got the transcript from the college in question... the school verifies that it was sent on the 11th of June. Should I resend it, or hope that TMDSAS miraculously finds it? Also, does UT-San Antonio have a secondary? I heard someone say they didn't, but I don't remember who or if I trust them ^.^ I haven't found it online so far

No, the only UT school with a secondary is Southwestern.

Well, Southwestern and UNT at least, though UNT is osteopathic. Their secondary is extremely lengthy. Glad to hear San Antonio doesn't need one though.

UNT is not a UT school. I said that Southwestern is the only UT school to require a secondary. This is the pre-allopathic forum so UNT has no business here.

True, UNT is not a UT school and is osteopathic. But since this thread is about TMDSAS and questions about the application and schools, I find it reasonable for UNT to be included in the discussions. 🙂

And if y'all have any specific questions, I start in 2 weeks 😱😱 Shoot me a PM 🙂

Wow, UNT starts early. UTMB doesn't start until August 31 and I can't wait. Let us know how it goes; I've heard they don't make it any easier on their students than the MD schools.

I have two questions about the tmdsas, I hope someone can help me out.

What is the fee/filing notice or I-797? Who needs to fill this out?

I'm also a naturalized US citizen, do I need to send in a copy of my passport?

thanks.

I am sure this has been answered before , but just wanted to confirm that TMDSAS does not require LORS to begin processing the application - nor would it would delay submission to the schools. Thanks ..

For the unique experience optional essay, would writing about a service trip to central america be an appropriate topic? If so, would writing this experience in the healthcare activities section cause this to be redundant, despite the fact that I can present much more information in the 2500 char essay than the 300 char activity description?

Prompt (from Application Instructions)
The first optional essay asks you to briefly state any unique circumstances or life experiences that are relevant to your application. This is not an area to continue your essay or reiterate what you have previously stated: this area is provided to address any issues which have not previously been addressed. Optional Essay 1 is limited to 2500 characters, including spaces.

Guess I am in trouble and may need to re-think my essay. Unfortunately I've already briefly touched on the topic I was going to use (a tiny paragraph in my main essay) but I figured it was a very unique life experience so I could actually expand on the details in the optional essay. Do you think that's a very bad idea even though it will be adding much more information rather than reiterating?

I did something similar to what you're talking about. I had mentioned something in my original essay in passing, and decided to detail the experience in "unique experiences." I felt that it was an important thing to talk about, but detailing it in my first essay wouldn't have fit with the point I was trying to make. I think as long as you are clearly not just expanding the first essay and use the opportunity to shed light on something important you did not already address, it should be fine.

Is the first optional essay a good place to talk about a 3 week road trip across India? It is a unique life experience but it does not have anything to do with medicine. I learned a lot about history, culture, languages, customs etc.

I submitted my TMDSAS application on 6/14 and I still have not had TMDSAS send my application to the schools. I've read that other people who sent theirs in at the same time as me have already had theirs sent to the schools. It has been over 3 weeks now, should I call or e-mail them yet, or wait until 4 weeks has gone by?

If you submitted a committe packet, the home page should say 1 Letter received right? My packet has 5 letters and I just want to make sure they got all of it.

Never mind, they sent my application about an hour after I posted this question.

The TMDSAS people were probably watching SDN saying, "Let's see how long we can delay people's applications before they call us!" :meanie:

Disclaimer for all the TMDSAS people that do read this board: I have nothing but respect for you and your system 😀

My TMDSAS and AMCAS applications were verified and submitted the same day (7/02). I have already received emails from many of the schools that I applied to using AMCAS but have heard nothing on my application status from TMDSAS. I know it has only been a few days but the reason why I am concerned is due to an email from TMDSAS saying that it sent my application to the following schools but did not list any schools after that remark.

Does anybody know how long it takes for the Texas schools to reply on receiving your application from TMDSAS?

I am in the same situation. The email from TMDSAS said it sent my app to schools, but didn't list any, I think it's just a bug... as always.

Do Texas schools even notify you when they receive your application? I don't think so, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I did receive an email from Tech saying that I didn't finish my secondary, but I think they only got that info because I registered on their web.

I, too, am in this boat. I agree, its probably just a bug. It is quite irritating that none of the Texas schools have notified me (or anyone, apparently) about receiving the primary, however they have all notified me of receiving the secondary.

I got an email from UTSW saying that my secondary had been submitted and logged... but beyond that (and the email from TMDSAS saying the application was sent to the schools) I have received nothing in terms of email.

so im lookin at all the schools to try and find out my application status, and UTSW's wont let me on because a "secure connection" failed. Also, for TAMU, the bamf thing now has an identity form on it that has been filled out and submitted.... but not by me... which I find wierd. Anyone else noticing this stuff?

I'm a Florida Resident. On the residency page, it says
Is there any additional information that you believe TMDSAS should know in evaluating your residency?

Should I mention that I am about to move to Texas, and getting married with a Texas resident in July?

I don't know that I would mention the married part as it doesn't affect your own residency, but I would say something about being gainfully employed in texas for one year prior to the start of the academic school year. I don't think it will change your residency status for the application, but may affect it for tuition at matriculation.

Wow! I can't believe how many of you have already submitted and verified your TMDSAS applications. I am still waiting for TMDSAS to receive my transcripts and LORS even though the fee and the rest of the application as been submitted for a while.

Is anyone else still waiting for transcripts and what not, or am I way behind by Texas standards?

I just saw on the Texas Tech forum that someone has received an interview invite for August 7th.... now I really feel behind.....

Besides cher, has anybody heard from ANY of the schools?

I still haven't heard anything

Hey yall,
I just got an email from UTSA saying that my application has been considered complete and was sent to their admission committee. My letters and transcripts still say 0 and I sent mine on June 6thish. I also recieved that email saying that my application was submitted to schools a few weeks ago.

Danimjo, is your avatar you?

Also, just curious, what is your MCAT score?

I'm excited to start receiving e-mails in the near future.

Yeah I have everything in but I just need to submit.. (working on the optional essay) I feel soo behind

Hey guys, I received the e-mail from UTHSC-SA as well and I know that my letter packet has not been sent yet, so my file can't be complete. I sent an e-mail to them and they are checking on it.

I also had a question about Texas A&M's secondary. The questions they ask are almost exactly the same as the optional essays on TMDSAS. I don't want to BS through the essays, since I covered the relevant topics fully in the original essay. Do you think it's okay to use the same essays?

TTU el paso offered me an interview today, but im havin trouble with merlin and getting a date set.

Here is something interesting, my application status on the TMDSAS site changed to "submitted to schools" on July 2nd, but when I logged in today, my status was "transmitted to schools"! Does this mean something magical has happened since the 2nd or what? 😱

Check TMDSAS again, they posted the following message:
"You may have noticed that for a brief time earlier today, your application status appeared to change. The information that displayed at that time was incorrect, and has since been fixed. The status of your application has not actually changed, and there is no problem with your application. We apologize for any confusion."

So my application status has changed to verified... what does that mean?
