I don't know if everyone's amount was the same or not, but I recieved 8k. Not a huge life changing amount, but it definitely made me feel wanted and I really appreciate it. Plus, $8,000 is kind of a game changer to me a little bit haha, it will definitely help with moving costs and furnishing, etc. It kind of makes the school decision a bit easier lol (unless one of the others comes out of nowhere with like a 60k offer 😉 )

@Advance , if you don't mind me asking, where do you live? I'd appreciate a specific response, but if you don't want to give one I would also just really appreciate an area (deep ellum, uptown, bishops, etc).
Sure, I live in the village near SMU off of 75. It's about 10 mins away from school. It's pretty nice but sometimes it sucks going to school when there's traffic.

I also live in the village! TAMU is my #1 choice and I would love to pick your brain if possible. I'm a re-applicant. We may have even already met if you have gone to a Dental Space Advisors happy hour event. I'm a lead market research analyst there.

Really that's awesome! I haven't gone to any events since I moved here but yeah we can totally meet up sometime!

Do you know of any good neighborhoods with single family homes? Non trad coming in :claps::soexcited:

Non-trad here too. We are currently in North Garland and looking to sell/buy before next summer. We are looking at White Rock area (good for me) and west Richardson (good for husband and kid). If you want to PM me, I might be able to give some pointers about the area relevant to families.

Depends on how far you're willing to commute! There are some fantastic areas to raise your family in around the north Dallas area, but they would be a 30 min commute on a good day (and an hour and a half on a bad day) these areas are the suburbs Allen, Plano, McKinney, Frisco, and Wylie! Like I said they're a little far, but they're really nice areas.

Thanks guys!
I'm ok with a commute (From high traffic area), but I was also thinking of just waking early and getting there before traffic. Drove to my interview and saw the early morning traffic and I think I can handle it lol Maybe

They could also base the scholarship on low income, first generation, background, bla bla.
Not just grade.

Not to go against what you're saying, but I'm not low income, I'm not first generation, and I'm not from a really unique background ( i mean my family is immigrants, but my parents are lawyers)

I think it's more about personality and whether or not you might go to another school, but idk for sure!

I don't think stats are the thing they look at the most though for those though

I'm pretty sure they look at URM status as well.

Well then this might just be your lucky day.

Jk, I dont know what they base it on then. After all, I'm just a D1 procrastinating study for finals.

Has anyone heard from San Antonio for post December invites?
I received an interview offer from SA two weeks ago and interviewed there yesterday. They said they will continue to interview until the end of Jan.

Still waiting to hear from Houston for Post-dec interview! Anyone???

Oh okay, thanks!
I got one for Houston a couple weeks ago for Jan 10
Hopefully we have some chance for post December acceptances

Woo hoo!! Got my letter from TAMU with a lil sum sum ($) too :soexcited:

The letter states that my scholarship was awarded based on my extracurriculars/involvement in undergrad.

Interesting!

Was it the same amount? Because mine gives different reason for the award.

okay I think I get it now, cause mine was for "clear potential for leadership, service and demonstrated accomplishments"

and congrats! is it your choice of dental school?

Does anyone know the estimated costs for the schools?

I always thought A&M was a lot cheaper compared to the other two, but someone who graduated from Houston was telling me that isn't the case. I've tried finding the information myself but I'm not having very much luck.

Thanks!

Man, idk why I'm having such a hard time deciding for sure :/ any tips on how to decide which school to attend?

Ehh, all the schools are good. I honestly would have been happy going to any one of them. A&M offered me money and it ended up being cheaper than the other two that's the main reason I chose A&M. I also like the fact that we take boards after D1.

How important are grades after we get accepted? Like if we get a C in a science course, can they rescind an offer? You know, senioritis... lol

3rd time applicant finally received admission into UT Health. I'm currently taking upper level bio courses and had some planned to take in the spring (not requirements). Anyone know if UT Health is strict about taking the planned courses? I really do not want to mess up any thing by not taking it (aka have them retract my admission) but I would also like to save a little money.

For every one who gets accepted or chooses to go to UT Health. Do you know if UT Health gives out scholarship just like TAMU? And is it normal that I haven't received any acceptance letter in the mail yet? TIA

I received an email with a scholarship of $10,000 hours after the acceptance email.

Questions about TAMU:
1) Are we required to get a specific laptop/tablet? Or just something with certain specs?
2) How much is parking? Are we able to get discounts on DART passes through the school?

1.) They will send you a pre-orientation packet in the mail with recommended computers and specs. As long as it can run our test taking software it will be fine.(they will test if it can during orientation week)
2.) Parking is 320$ for the whole year if you want to park at the nussbaumer or swiss garage. There is free parking near the school if you don't want to pay though. Yes our school gives discounts on DART passes.
