Anyone else think the women that work here are snotty as anything?? EVERy time I call someone has a serious attitude problem! 😡

All I have to say is they shouldn't be working there since their job is to HELP people...

Anyway, I figure I'd start a thread if anyone has questions about this particular appliction 😀

Get used to it. You're gonna deal with lots of those type of people before this process is over.

Last year, I thought the TMDSAS people were a whole lot friendlier than AMCAS. You also get your questions asked really quickly.

Quit calling and just email them. They prefer emails over calls.

Email Theresa. I had best results with her returning email to my questions.

personally, I think the TMDSAS is confusing. They don't specify,"If the answer to the question is yes, continue answering the following questions;if the answer is no, skip to question 9." So I'll be answereing a string of questions until I realize it doesn't pertain to me. Any suggestions?

I agree, TMDSAS folks are mean!!

Hey, should we start a TMDSAS Questions thread, similar to the AMCAS thread? 👍

What are you guys putting under the section entitled "Special Experiences & Evaluation Letters"

For my evaluation letter, I am submitting a packet from my pre-med advisor.

As for special experiences, I guess you could put whatever you feel is important for the adcom to know about you (that you couldn't fit into your essay)

There is an handful of people trying to process 3000 applications as fast and as accurately as possible. Instead of emailing them as they prefer, they probably get about a thousand calls a day for questions they've heard for the zillionth time that could more than likely be figured out if you took the time to read the instructions.

I'm not trying to be condescending, but you have to look at it from their perspective.

While it's probably true that they are getting inundated by questions they've heard a thousand times, why do we pay TMDSAS any fees? Who pays their salary? It's their job to answer questions and process our applications in a timely manner, and it's our right to be given decent service and be treated respectfully. And reading the instructions becomes an increasingly difficult excercise when the details and instructions are NOT always clear and NOT up-to-date. Just my $0.02

Yeah, I agree entirely. I was always nice and pleasant to them and they were ALWAYS rude back to me, which was totally out of line because a) their website is so 1996 - confusing with outdated information, and skimpy on answering questions that every single applicant has and b) considering the fees that they charge that pay their salaries, and the inefficient snail's pace that they process things they shouldn't be surprised at the number of questions and hassling that they get from applicants, nor should they have any right to get snippy. They aren't doing a complimentary service for us that we can bypass- we're required to use them, but I think the people that work there tend to 'forget' that fact way too often...

Do the Texas schools charge for their secondaries?

What do you mean by considering the fees they charge? The Texas system is a bargain compared to AMCAS.

Look at it from their perspective?? That is their JOB. I don't care how many phone calls they get each day..that is what they signed up to do. If not, they need to quit and find something that better suits them. Let me also remind you that AMCAS has tons more people applying and every time I have called them in the past they have been NOthing but helpful.

Oh, and as for taking time to read instructions, I think everyone that has half a brain would do this first.

Thanks keekee 😉

True, but a lot of the Texas schools have fees with their secondaries, so it can run into a lot of money overall. And also it's just the principle of thing- they shouldn't charge anything if all you're going to get is slow processing, infrequently updated and incomplete websites, and attitude from them...

You're welcome TexasGirl! It's good to know someone else who can sympathize... 🙂

NO!!! At least not since last night when I was looking over the TMDSAS website.

Better double check. Last year, I think Tech and A&M both charged an extra fee with their secondaries...

Oh I didn't know it was that bad. I didn't have any of those encounters. Well in that case you are right.

Yeah, but fortunately I don't think it's that bad for everyone, because a lot of people don't really ever have a need to contact them directly, at least not more than once or twice. You can run into problems though when you're a non-traditional, like I was, because you can have a lot of genuine questions that are non-traditional in nature and aren't always answered on the website. I had to contact them a lot more than I wanted to, but it seriously would have been less if they had been a little more helpful and organized and less rude. That's why I felt a little angsty about paying the fees. I think the bottom line is the less contact with them the better... 🙂
