Because of the SNAFU of the TMDSAS/Interfolio joint venture, A&M has re-opened their online submission process (any that were submitted online before today didn't get through according to when I spoke to Yolanda earlier today). So if you didn't include/didn't know to include (due to lack of instructions...😡) the little TMDSAS form with the initial eval forms you had your evaluators send out, then Interfolio is going to have to sort all that out, and it may delay your application.

So I had to ask my evaluators all to re-write theirs (which is just...slightly embarassing) and include that little form.

Then today they sent this e-mail out (the primary reason for making this post in case someone didn't get it). So evidently the online submission that didn't work before, is working now. So everyone has to re-submit their supplemental applications so all the evaluator e-mails can be sent out again. Also, the deadline has been extended to October 15th.

Now I love this school, and know this isn't the status quo, but between filling out the entirely new TMDSAS form, avoiding a perfectly working system (VMCAS), and messing around with this crap, no wonder so few OOSers apply.

Dear Applicant:

It has come to our attention that the evaluation portion of the Interfolio/TMDSAS application is confusing to some evaluators. The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University has decided to re-open its portion of the evaluation section on our supplemental application. Please visit our supplemental website (https://www.cvm.tamu.edu/applicantsite/). All supplemental applications that were previously submitted have been re-opened. Please follow the instructions below:

1. Return to the supplemental application (https://www.cvm.tamu.edu/applicantsite/)
2. Add, edit, or review evaluators (you must have evaluators e-mail addresses)
3. Submit or re-submit your supplemental application

Your evaluators will receive an email with instructions for evaluating you.

***If your evaluator has submitted an evaluation on you through the Interfolio/TMDSAS service, there is no need for them to submit another evaluation through our website. You must submit all the information requested about your evaluator on the supplemental applicaton. Please inform your evaluators to disregard the e-mail that will be sent from our CVM Webmaster regarding submission of an evaluation on your behalf. ***

The deadline for submission of these evaluations (by the evaluators) has been extended to October 15, 2009. This year will be the only time that we will extend this deadline.

Again, everyone must go back to the supplemental website to re-submit your supplemental application.

I got the same email and had the same uncomfortable conversation with one of my LOR writers. While it wasn't my fault, the whole situation was frustrating. Your LOR writers are already putting a good amount of effort out there and then we have to get them to do it again. Very irritating.

TMDSAS is cumbersome and not nearly as well designed as VMCAS. Exactly why do they think they need to be special and have their own system? Anyone know?

So far, between the lack of assistance I've received when contacting TAMU CVM admissions office, this whole ordeal, and TMDSAS in general, TAMU is falling way down on my list of school choices- and they're my IS school!

Someone on here said they used to use VMCAS, but then had a falling out or something and separated, so now they have two applications that are, in essence, exactly the same. They may just like the decreased number of applications they need to sort through or something and don't want to go back.

What lack of assistance? I always talk to Yolanda Brinkman and get good help. She's awesome and knows almost everything about the process. She also does the exit interviews so she knows what they're looking for too.

Hey. Nice to finally see some people on here applying to A&M!

I don't know if you had this problem, but I'll rant anyway. I had already had 2 people fill out the evaluation forms and mail them to Interfolio in DC when I got an email telling me they had to have a Document Request Form (with the barcode) printed from the TMDSAS app. So I only have one other eval. form in the mail right now that has that form. Interfolio said that it takes alot longer for them to notify people once their eval. forms are in if they don't have the D.R. Form. I've been here worrying about when and if they're even there.

Also, Yolanda Brinkman has been helpful for me, too. Well, I submitted my TMDSAS app., Supplemental app. (for the 2nd time), and checks not long ago, so now it's just time to wait, worry, and bug admissions offices for all of my schools. 🙂

No, that's the exact problem I was talking about. So as to have all my evals finished properly, I asked my evaluators to re-write the evals and send in with the new page over the weekend. Then, I find out the other day that the first online thing didn't work (talking to Yolanda), so I had to ask my third evaluator (who did do it online) to re-do that one as well since they screwed that up too and had her hand write the eval form and send it in. Then they tell us they could've done them all online and not have to re-write them all.

Kind of makes us look bad.
