I just finished my anthropology major this semester and I have already been accepted to dental school. I registered for biochem, micro bio next semester with an anthropology class. I am debating should i go to school next semester or just work/chill/relax. I am done with my grad requirements and major, next semester is just for the hell of it. Is it worth it?

knowledge is power

I would chill and travel.
Travelling is also a good way to learn.

Did you state on your application that you were planning to take those courses next semester? If so, you should check with the dental school because your acceptance might be contingent upon you completing those courses with acceptable grades.

Ya I did. I should call of the school and find out what they suggest.

I'm pretty sure that most schools require Biochem. Obviously the one you got accepted to doesn't if you are considering not taking it. Call the school and see what they say.

If the dental schools don't care, then I would use the time to relax and work/pay off any debts before starting next year.

I would take it. Biochem is no joke, especially if you are seeing it for the first time at the graduate level.

You said you were an anthropology major and you saved microbio and biochem, two of the more advanced science classes, until the end. Have you taken other sciences besides the pre recs?

I am not trying to offend you, I am just saying that taking as many sciences before dental school, will put you in a much better position.

You'll have all summer to travel and relax, which is plenty of time.

At the very least, audit Biochem (meaning don't do it for a grade) and keep up with the class. But I agree, it's very difficult if you see it for the first time. I struggled on it for the first half of the semester and finally picked it up at the end - got an A (studied like crazy for the final). It was a scary experience...However, I learned to love the subject; it was truly interesting.

Go get a job, get a girlfriend, get a life!

You've successfully finished college and landed yourself in dental school, I'm not saying to pat yourself on the back, but at this stage it's much more progressive and fruitful to explore and conquer challenges outside the classroom, then bring those lessons with you back to dental school.

Biochem and Microbio...ya, sure it's hard, but you know the game, when the time comes you'll handle it like you've handled every other difficult course.

Here's my prediction: since there is no real motivation for you to take these courses, you just won't be hardcore about it, which means you probably won't hit 90% on all your exams. Half way through the semester you're saying to yourself "what the hell did I get myself into?!" Then towards the end, you'll come back here and post a thread titled "should I withdraw from these courses?", explaining how you took classes that you didn't need because you didn't have anything better to do and are now in a bad position. Random posters are going to give you eloquent reasons for dropping these classes, but only to be countered by profound rebuttals on why you should stick with the classes until the dying end. Finally, you drown in your own inescapable conclusion "Man, I am screwed. I should've never taken those stupid classes."

Best solution to a problem is to not create one.

Yes I have taken upper level bio classes through out my college career. I emailed my prospect dental school and they recommended me to take those classes since I indicated them in planned course on AADSAS.
Time to enjoy winter break and then get back to work in spring. Thanks everyone for the advice.
