too late for a retake??

u of d mercy wants me to take the DAT again because I got a 16 QR. When should i tell them i plan on retaking it?? i want to do REALLY well, i don't just want to retake it in like a week... i was thinking of studying for 3 weeks over my winter break and taking it at the end, so probably the first week in january. is this too late??? will they not wait??? i used kaplan and i was wondering if anyone used other test preps that they found more effective?? i found it helpful, but i'm up for trying something new. thank you!

I would call up the school and see what they say. Tell them you would like to retake the exam as they requested, but won't be able to take it until early January, or whenever, and see if they will still consider your application or keep your applicaiton on hold until that time. If they are requesting a retake to bring up that one section then I assume they think you are a reasonably competitive applicant so I think they would be willing to put your app on hold until then.

As far as extra materals to study from, depends on the sections. If you are just looking for QR help, you may want to try the Kaplan Math GRE book for additional math help. Good luck.
