Background: I will try to keep this short, I am a Dental Assistant, have done countless hours of shadowing and volunteer work. I have also done research at my university.

GPA: My gpa is very low, my science is 3.3 and overall is 3.5

Knowing this I needed a good DAT score so I took my DAT last summer and is was so terrible that I am too embarrassed to put the score on here. I applied anyway and didn't get accepted.

I took my DAT today and got:

Pa: 18
QR: 15 (I just wanted to finish this as soon as possible so I can find out my DAT score)
RC: 20
Bio: 20
Gen: 19
Org: 17 (I have no idea what happened here)
TS: 18
AA: 18

Do I have any chance? I am going to submit my application the day it opens since I have all the things I need but even with that will I even be interviewed?

Any suggestions help! Thank you!

with the 15 and 17 it'll be an uphill battle but not impossible. As long as you have very strong ECs, LORs, and PS you might get one depending on what schools you apply to

Little to no chance. You need to retake and get minimum 19+ AA and TS with every section 17+. To have a good chance, you want 20+ AA/TS.

"I just wanted to finish this as soon as possible so I can find out my DAT score"

Also, WTF? When you screw up a section other than PAT, it lowers your AA score, so this was a horrible error in judgement.

You have a chance, but that 15 and 17 are obviously going to make things quite a bit more difficult. Is there any way you can retake? You can submit your app again, then notify schools that you plan to retake. I think your goal should be a 20+ in every section. What resources did you use and how much time did you spend preparing?

OP sounds like he has good E.C.. His AA and PAT are not terrible (it might be around the average mark or slightly lower) but with good EC, it can be compensated. The only concern is the 15 in QR because I know some schools have cut off at 16? If possible, try to schedule the retake as soon as possible so that the application can be submitted and mailed out ASAP.

I don't think your GPA is very low, but your QR score is. Three of the schools I'll be applying to don't even accept scores <18. Are you sure that none of your schools have such requirement? If I were you, I would look up the schools you're interested in and see what their requirements are. Best wishes!

If I were you, and you are planning to apply for this upcoming cycle, then do it.

Your scores are not garbage, they are low, but still acceptable.

If you really want to become a dentist, and you have the confidence to do so, then do it.

Apply, reschedule DAT ASAP, before September if possible.

Your gpa is very acceptable.

Remember SDN does not represent the whole pool of applicants. The national average is still below 20.

An average is the sum of all values divided by the number of values.

10-15k applicants
Dat has values ranging from 0 to 30.

Don't get your hopes lost.

And become a good healthcare provider.

Your GPA right now is better than your DAT :/ Fix your DAT score and you should have no problem netting some interviews.

I would definitely recommend re-taking the DAT. Your GPA is fine but combining it with your DAT score might make your chances risky.

what schools are you planning on applying to?
