Now that interviews are coming to a close... what are everyone's top 4 programs that they will be ranking? Here's mine so far.... (In no particular order)

UChicago
NYU-Bellevue
Northwestern

After that I'm not sure which program will be the 4th between UCLA-OV, Harvard, and Cook County.

I'm afraid some of us here are not as anonymous as we would like, so I'll have to hold off on posting my ROL, but I promise to post it after everything has been turned in.

but how would any PD or resident know who we are?

true. besides, i suspect that programs simply rank by who they want, not by how they perceive applicants will rank them...or am I just being naive? 😕

For me, it's such a hard choice. The programs that I will be ranking - in no particular order as I haven't decided yet - are:

Washington University
UT-Southwestern
Oregon
Univ of Chicago
NYU-Bellevue
USC-LA County
UCLA-Harbor
UC-San Diego
Cincinnati
Brigham
BIDMC
Boston Medical Center
Stanford
George Washington University

That's 14 programs - all of which seem to have their strong points. Honestly, I'd be thrilled and consider myself fortunate to match at the majority of them. I'm hopelessly lost....!

Maybe I should draw names out of a hat??!

Seriously, though, anyone with any insights on ranking these programs, please feel free to PM me!

I don't think any PDs know or care who I am on here so my top four list in no particular order (because I am losing sleep still making my mind up!).....

UT Southwestern
Hennepin
Carolinas
Vandy

I know these seem somewhat random but I have family fairly close by to all of the above and they are great programs, so I will continue to consult the magic 8 ball and try to put them in order.

Great thread, since I can only manage a collective top 4. I really can't rank them the same way twice.

Maryland----OHSU----BIDMC----Pitt----UNC

Shoot... that's 5.

I am so relieved -- none of my top choices have been mentioned yet 🙂

Looking forward to posting my list of "hidden gems" on February 23rd!

In no particular order...

Brigham and Women's
King's County
NYU-Bellevue
St. Luke's
Jacobi
Boston Medical Center
Hopkins

Sounds like it boils down to location. If you like all those programs, you should decide what city and location you seemed to like the best. EM is a great lifestyle career, so pick a city where there are a lot of things to do that interest you...If you have a SO, perhaps input from them as to where the SO can get a job and enjoy living as well...
The nice thing about EM is that you can do your residency anywhere and not be "stuck" there afterwards like a lot of other specialties....I did med school in L.A., then residency in CT, took my first job in Northern Cali, now I am in SoCal....It is so easy to move around in EM....
Hope this helps a little...
Mark

St Lukes Roosevelt
U of Chicago
NY Methodist
Stanford

. . . at least that's the list this morning.

I was wondering if anyone knows what percentage of EM applicants match at say their first three choices, first ten choices

In no particular order and really having a hard time with this:

North Shore
Jacobi
UConn
U of Maryland
Stony Brook
Cooper

Any input on these programs would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!

Good luck to all!

Here are my top fo' but still 'fused 'bout the order:
U of Chicago, UIC, Loma Linda, USC. the list is likely to change, depending on what the 'ol lady has to say.

Anyone thinking about Baystate or UCONN: If you have any questions about the area, PM me. I live halfway between them and know the area well (born and raised here!).

so here's my top grouping, though i really couldn't tell you what order... any residents from these programs feel like contacting me, please PM.. I'd certainly appreciate it.

Christiana
North Shore
MCV
U of Maryland

Feb. 23, same date as us, but committees meet to make their rank lists much earlier (like now). Some PDs, however, have unilateral final say over the rank list and can bump people up all the way until the 23rd. This is the information that was provided to me by one PD that called me last week.

This is a tough one. Have not finalized it yet, but here goes:

1. Harbor
2. Highland
3. Cook County
4. Denver

May move in Cinci or Christ also.

No particular order:
Utah
Baystate
St. Lukes-PA
ECU
UNM
I know this is five but I am having problems with 3 and 4. Most people I have talked with matched within their top 2 but I still like to worry too much over it.

I don't know how much logic, if any at all, will factor into the final formulation of the rank order list. So many factors seem to play into the decision... general atmosphere, gut feeling, reputation, on and on. For whatever its worth, here's my contribution:

-UMass<--->UMaryland
-Tampa General<-->UConn
-Palmetto Health Richland

Maybe I'll just press the certify button and hope for the best. Good luck to all and best wishes for a successful match...
