Touro - Cali 2009 applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It still shouldn't take that long. My roomate submitted his supplemental on Monday 1/19 and received his postcard saying his file was complete the same week (Sat 1/24). I think they are pretty efficient over there. Good luck.

I had just emailed Julie Lee to ask her to confirm that she had received my supplemental.

And also, props to you Calisoca for not just choosing SC over Touro just b/c it's SC. It seems you've made a thorough consideration and I think it's admirable.

i think that vallejo is ghetto too...but the program is still great. Granted, they just started about 4 yrs ago...but now there is competetion to actually get in now that they will soon be accredidated.. I admire you for your decision as well! Congratulations!

Thank you both. Touro CA is going to be one hell of a school.

Also...I've never seen anybody stress the fact that they are closely affiliated with Kaiser Permanente...whata plus. I'm looking for stability as opposed to revenue.

Pharmboy316, trust me: the residence of an applicant has no affect on his/her acceptance rate off of a waitlist (especially within the state of California). While waitlisted applicants have no idea of their "rank" on a waitlist, you had better believe they are ranked to the admissions officials. What humors me most is that Mr. Davis himself reads this forum and right now he is agreeing with me--Ouch.

Once again, what you have pointed out is mere coincidence--yes I actually listened to the faculty who spoke during the day of the interview. "When I get into pharmschool"...If you read back a few pages, I'm already accepted to pharm school, at the very school this topic resides in--amongst a few additional schools as well. I am very pleasurable to work with, and while I still like to consider myself as a 'kid', I laugh at your ignorance. I wish you the best in the future.

My mistake, I didn't know you and Mr. Davis were BFFs. I'm glad you got accepted into a pharm school, but what is your point for telling me that? Does it mean you're currently on the admissions committee? It's really hard to believe that you are pleasurable to work with considering all the conflicts you have created with other SDN members with your rude, condescending, and arrogant responses to other member's thoughts and concerns. No need to wish me the best, cause no matter how hard you wish it's not going to affect me. You should concentrate on wishing the best for yourself.

can somone please post directions to tu from sacramento area? my postoffice was having difficulties with my mail and I did not receive the letter with directions from them. thanks!

You know, with the power of the internet, I am surprised you didn't go to their website to get this info. Here it is for those who don't know how to use their resources. From Sacramento, you can always google maps or yahoo maps or mapquest from your home address.

Grats to all those accepted from the latest crop of interviewees.

While we do not know the official dates for Orientation just yet, it will most likely be the 3rd and 4th of August, with classes starting the 5th.

I have tour duty again this month (close to the date when I interviewed last year) and look forward to showing some of those still looking for a seat around our campus.
P-)

[And, let's try to show a little more personal grace towards each other here in the forums and a little less sniping, please. I know there is a lot of stress, but we are all supposed to be mature adults here.]

Is anyone else on this forum going to the Feb. 5th interview? I'll be there, freezing in my skirt and heels lol 🙂

Hey,
My supplemental application was received on 12/31.
I received a postcard stating that my file was complete on 1/28.
I received a letter in the mail with an interview invite today! 02/02.

I'm scheduled for the February 26th interview! Yay!

I finally received my confirmation postcard today, except they spelled my last name wrong (pronounced the same for both). However, I did confirm with Julie Lee via email a few days before, since I had not heard from them. I hope hear something good from them soon!

My PharmCAS application was sent to Touro on Jan. 5 but I still haven't heard anything from them. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to receive the supplemental app and any reasons why someone wouldn't receive one? I emailed Julie last week and still haven't heard anything back yet. Hope I'm not rejected or have my application get lost 🙁

I received the supplemental app a month after I e-submitted my PharmCAS for Touro.

Congrats! I got an interview invite in the mail today too but got home and called after their offices were already closed 🙁

Do you mind if I ask what interview dates they had available?

For those that intereviewed already this year, do we need to bring ID for the interview? I believe my wallet was stolen on the BART since it is nowhere to be found and I am freaking out....needless to say, my Driver's license is gone.

In the letter they said you need a valid ID for the interview.

They never asked for an ID during the interview, but you could always try bringing a school ID or use a passport if necessary.

Thanks for the help guys. I seriously lucked out because my neighbor came knocking on my door this morning with my wallet! He said that he saw it lying on the sidewalk....I must have dropped it in my hurry to get to work the other day. Thank goodness he found it! Now all I have to worry about is not rambling during my interview tomorrow 🙂

I just called in for my interview. The first available date was March 12th--which of course I took. 🙂

I just thought I'd give some hope to those on the alternate list and say I am likely going to turn down my acceptance. Yikes, there goes that $2000! 😛 It's ok...no regrets about it though!

Congratulations to you iwannafarm! Yup! Can't waaaaaaait!

Supplemental invites? Do you mean supplemental application? I thought the deadline to submit supplementals was Feb. 1st.

I turn down my interview so someone can have my Feb. 13 interview date if Julie offers it. Good Luck!

Anyone in the 01/29 interview hears anything yet? Mr Davis said we would here the result on Wednesday but I havent heard anything so far ...

If he told you the specific date where you could email him, you can email him to find out your admission status. Otherwise, the only way you will find out of your admissions status is by snail mail. If you do not email, he may think you prefer snail mail. I emailed Mr. Davis and found out my result pretty fast.

Anyone who interviewed on 1/22 or 1/23 already hear back from the school?

He told us to email him before 02/02 so that he could schedule to email us back on 02/04. I did email him on 02/02 already.
tx rycetrix.

I interviewed on Jan 29, and I received an email from Mr. Davis, I got accepted 🙂, good luck to everyone

high alternate...is there any hope? or should i just give up already.

From what I heard, it seems like those who are on the high alternate list have a great chance of getting pulled off from the list.

No! Don't give up hope! I am giving up my spot as we speak. I'm going to send an email to Julie Lee, but I'm not even sure if that's who I send it to. Maybe to Mr. Davis? I tried calling their office today but no one was answering. Anyway, I'll tell them to make sure to give my spot to "lifexfabolous" :xf: hahaha... but seriously, Good luck and I hope it helps!

thanks I am trying really hard to keep my spirits up. I just forgot what mr Davis said about alternates and the likely hood of moving out of it. Have a good weekend everyone.:xf:

I think he said that roughly 50 ppl from high alternate list get pulled off.
You have a great chance my friend.

wow, it's really fast. They get back to you within one week or so. So I just keep my fingers cross now.:xf:

Hey lifexfabolous!
Dont feel bad. I had my interview on Jan. 29th and I was placed as a high alternate as well. If I remember correctly Mr. Davis said that those who are placed high alternate still have a good chance of getting in. It is the med. or low alternates that need to be worried.

Did you interview on Jan. 29th?

Hey guys!
Did Mr. Davis say how many people they place on the high alternate list? Do they rank the people on the list? How do they pick who gets the next open spot?
I am just really confused on how this process works.
Thanks

he did not say how many people on the high alternate waitlist. I think they do rank people in the waitlist since if someone drop the school, they will pick the next. However, they do not let one know the position of his in the list.

I got the email today and i was accepted. Good luck to those who interviewed on the 22nd and 23rd.

Did anybody who interviewed on the 23rd get in? It was a very rainy day that day. I remembered that there were only two girls who interviewed on that day.

I was accepted. But I was one of the girls that interviewed on the 22nd.

hey dear since you have been accepted, do you think you have any advice for someone like me who is yet to interview on the 12th of March. Am so nervous! What about the accommodation? I will be coming from southern Cali. Any ideas?

I think my interview at Touro was the most relaxing and easygoing one. They really don't ask too many questions (since they are interviewing 5-6 people at a time and give an opportunity for each to answer) and the questions they ask are quite general and straightforward. Also, since it's a group interview, you can always wait and see how others answer first if you need the extra time to think of an answer.

I'm from San Francisco so I drove to my interview. But I know some of the interviewees who took the Marriot hotel/shuttle package seemed pretty satisfied with the option. Otherwise, I heard there are also other hotels in the area if you're willing to call around.

Good luck!

the marriot was a lot more expensive.

i stayed at the Ramada Inn (on admiral callahan way. there are a lot of food places in that general complex where you can walk to and eat. They seriously have everything in that area in case you forgot something..

they also have wireless internet connection. The drive to the university is like a couple minutes longer from the marriot. Actually, when you drive to the campus, you pass the marriot...so you pretty much take the same route becuase you have to drive onto mare island

Just review the feedback interview question on this site. Most of the questions they ask are on this site. There is probably going to be like 5 questions asked. Just practice practice practice. The more you practice the more likely you will do well and get into Touro. Enjoy the tour while u are at your interview.

man i should really get on the supplemental. I think i will focus on this after my interviews in glendale and SF.

Any ideas how many seats are left?

I'd hate to be a downer, but as for the high alternate status on the waitlist, there were others on this forum as well as myself who were never pulled off the list and were eventually rejected last year. Hopefully this is not the case this year and you guys get in. Good luck!

On a similar note, I was wondering if they mentioned anything about if you are on the waitlist and do not get pulled from it, they will review your file after the cycle ends and consider you for early admission for a seat in the next class? They did that last year and I was curious to see if they are still doing that. Thanks.

so are you saying high alternate does not mean anything? u still could get str8 out rejection =(

and yes they are doing early acceptance. how does that work? like all the high alternate get into touro if there are seats, and then they look at the high to low for early acceptance?

and has anyone been rejected from touro yet after an interview? like not even on high medium or low....

Has anyone who submitted a supplemental application with no interview been rejected yet, or do they wait until March/April to send those out?
