I got medium alternate.

I don't know if there's hope for that. But yeah, ofcourse they are on watch for the entire interview day!
There's always hope. However, this was your first interview, you may have several more to go through before you are done (looking at your sig). As Mr. Davis put it to us in my interview: the admission process by its nature is very subjective and what one school likes another may not and vice versa. Also, he told us that a standing of High wait list still gave you a good chance to be accepted, and while there is still hope for medium, he suggested that you go with any other acceptances you may receive to ensure that you get in
somewhere.
Being the new kid on the block means that, for a variety of reasons, (this is purely my speculation, I have no access to the actual numbers or details) we tend to dig a little deeper into our wait list than schools like UCSF. So, like I said, there is still hope for those in the middle of the wait list.
On a personal note, I have gotten more excited about our program the more I learn about it. The 2+2 program means that we get more rotation time than any other PharmD program here in California, giving us a better grounding, not just for RL, but also for residencies. The program seems to be of a nature and rigor that compares favorably with the 2+2 that most MDs go through (the fact that we have a College of Medicine here, probably has some impact on that). Tying in with that, there seems to be the beginnings of an effort to try to have COM and COP students here interact on at least a modest basis, perhaps foreshadowing the future nature of MD and PharmD as an integrated team.
[Not to burst any paranoid bubbles, but I can say that during the tour that I gave this last Thursday, I was not watching or taking notes on any of the interviewees, so you can all relax a little, ;-) ]
