👍 👍 👍 congrats on your acceptance. I interview the 20th 👍
Just found out I was accepted today! Wow...that was pretty quick turn around...
ME TOO!!!! 🙂
Congrats!!!👍
So, now the big question is: will those accepted attend or choose elsewhere?? hmmm.....😕
trust me, i have A LOT of pressure on my shoulders and a deposit down at another touro...
my parents think nyc is crime-ridden (yea, they're stuck in the 70s), cold, and expensive (well...yea!).
my heart says, nyc and urban medicine...
my brain says, but what if you want to stay in CA in the long run? (and heck, it'd be cheaper! though i figure not having a car will save me at least $15K not to mention all my vehicular follies lately)...
Man...Oh man......
All I know is, I'm happythat I can choose...It will be a long night!
New thread...Choices thread.
i'm feelin a new thread evolving...anyone?Congrats guys.
I was also accepted.👍
How do you feel about a new school vs an established school?
pros & cons.
Go with your heart. Whatever you choose will be right. That is a hard decision, though. CA and NY are both great places to go to school and for residency.
Now see, didn't I tell you that you would get accepted! 😛
How long did it take for you guys to get an interview invitation after being complete?
Congrats to all accepted!!I can say this much, if accepted by Tourocom I will definetely leave LA and head for the City.
Pros:
1. A school in the heart of a great urban environment dedicated to working with underserved populations.👍
2. Being the FIRST class of the school(aka. pioneer or guinea pig-take ur pick)with the potential to mold the school in a particular direction.
3. Brand new facilities!!Not having to rub your skin on years and years of accumulated sweat and dead skin cells on the OMM lab tables.
4. Having a HUGE population base to treat--with all types of patients and conditions, im sure clinically there will rarely be a dull moment.
5. Living in one of the greatest cities in the world😍
Cons:
1. Living in the Y for a year! (Actually I have done it in the past, and it really isnt that bad--you get very close with your fellow Y ers)
2. Cost of living NYC(?) Well LA isnt exactly cheapo living either
3. First class of school--no matter how nice being a 'pioneer' sounds, pioneers frequently ended up dead and discarded as they attempted to blaze the trails--aka guinea pigs.
Thats all for now--will fill in as I am inspired--feel free to add to the list.
As for me, barring failure of getting IN to the school, I do hope to soon be TOUROCOM class of 2011.
CONGRATS!!!! How did they contact you to let you know? email or snail mail or phone?Just found out I was accepted today! Wow...that was pretty quick turn around...
To those who are accepted when did you interview. I interviewed on the 31st and I havent heard from them. Starting to get worried that Im rejected.
Can you guys that got interviewed and/or accepted post your stats please? 😀 Touro doesn't seem to like me 🙁
I have an interview on the 7th. G-ProteinStar-
I am also stoked about the location. I am leaning toward M.I. campus as well. PM me if you're going to be hanging out through the 7th.
Hey everyone-
I applied December 20, got the secondary early January, but didn't have it in my possession until January 13th when I got back to school. I didn't mail it in until February 5. Anyone think my long delay before sending it in could negatively affect my application? Will my MCAT be able to counter my subpar GPA? I applied to like 10 schools EARLY summer and no interview invites.
GPA: 3.05
MCAT: 33O
there seem to be a lot of media coverage for touro-ny, I am very excited about this school, and it seems quite a few people are too. I have pasted below some of the things I found. what do you guys think?

Just about every medical school has something to say about recruiting minorities. I would really not focus on that, from my interview I got the sense that they are looking for highly qualified applicants, since this would be their first class, and they are looking to make a statement with high board exam scores etc. Giving back to the harlem community, and training physicians to work in underserved communities is one of the missions of the school, but then again almost every medical school makes a statement about giving back to their community and training doctors to work in underserved communities. I assure/guarantee you that not being a minority is a disadvantage, you are at a disadvantage with low m-cat's and low GPA, and applying late, just like with any other school.Just from reading all these articles, seems like TOUROCOM is really into recruiting minorities. My question is, who are considered minorities? does that mean that those who are not, will be at a disadvantage?
Would any of the accepted students mind sharing how much the deposit will be to hold a place in the class?
Many thanks!!!🙂
Out of state (Texas), applied to TCOM and Kirksville, but applied to Kirksville in October. Has Touro-NY said anything about in-state preference?

an outrageous $2000 within 14days.
it will definately filter out those who really want to go and those who are hesitant
I'll first say that I love everything I'm hearing about Touro and really hope I get in!
I need advice. I called Obed last Friday to make sure my file was complete, and when he mentioned that it was, he said that I should be getting an email anyday now for an interview.....a whole week has gone by and I'm going crazy! I'm not exactly sure when my file was "complete" since I have letters/trascripts going in from different schools, but my minimal stuff should've been there for at least a couple of weeks (I think). I've been patient all week, but no email. Do you think I should email him or just hold out? The anticipation is killing me lol.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
