Hello everyone. I have heard so many mixed things about Touro because of it being a newer program. I have an interview there next week but I wanted some more feedback in regard to how many rotation sites there are. I hear some 3rd year students are struggling to organize their rotations. Also, because there are no alumni yet, how do you all feel the future graduates will be able to find residencies. Frankly, I have no idea what to expect because I've heard so many good but more bad things about it.

from what i can tell. touro NV is better than touro NY and touro CA in that they got their act together more. the problem with touro NY is that they have to fight for rotations with alot of these other more established schools in the new york city area for rotations. Even all the carribbean schools pay alot of money to have their students rotate here. so i believe i heard that many touro students dont even really rotate in the city itself (manhattan) and have to instead resort to upstate new york or new jersey. thats just what i hear.

Wait a minute....Touro Nevada has their act together a lot more than Touro California? I thought Touro Nevada is a branch of Touro CA, with Touro CA being the more established school? Anyway I heard Touro CA has a similar issue with San Francisco as many of the hospitals there are hoarded by Stanford, UCSF, and UC Davis.

New York Bronx-Lebanon
New York Holliswood Hospital
New York New Island Hospital
New York St. John's Episcopal Hospital
New York Staten Island University Hospital
New Jersey Palisades Medical Center
New Jersey Trinitas
Upstate New York St. Elizabeth Medical Center
Upstate New York Wilson Medical Center

They are getting more hospitals, some in manhattan (though NYC has 5 boroughs), but this was the list for the class of 2011; haven't seen the updated class of 2012 list of rotations yet, maybe by december.

I am a Touro-NYC 2nd year student. The situation is more complicated than just the Caribbean schools paying more money. Our original clinical dean left the school under less than amicable circumstances and the Administration is not forthcoming with any information regarding adding new sites. They have confirmed that there will be no sites added anywhere in Manhattan in the foreseeable future so I'm not sure where that rumor is coming from.

Doc2bnyc,

thanks for the reply.

I currently interviewed at touro ny and thinking of going in. do you have any updates on rotation in touro? didn't get much during the interview session. thanks
