Hi, I wonder if you are asked to fill out the secondary application, which I did and sent it three days ago along with the $200, does it mean you are guaranteed an interview and if it does, how many students are interviewed and how many are offered a seat?

according to several people on the TouroNY thread, anyone who receives a secondary is offered an interview. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=452627

I had my interview at TOUROCOM last week and Obed said that if you get a secondary you automatically get an interview invite once you turn it in. Hope that helps. Good luck!!!

I sent in my secondary on November 20th, called a week later to check on the status and they invited me for an interview over the phone. If you don't hear from them after a week just give them a call.

StriveToBeDr--I think my interview went fine but I guess it's impossible to really know. There are two interviewers in the room. In my situation they had clearly decided on a good cop, bad cop scenario but the bad cop wasn't even that bad. 10 people were there that day to interview. Be ready for "why medicine?", "what do you know about DO?", and the ever popular "what is the worst problem in medicine and what can you do to solve it?". You will find out whether you are accepted, rejected or waitlisted within two weeks of the interview. Hope this is helpful.

It's not true, we were specifically told at the interview that only selected applicants are invited to the interview after they send in their completed secondary....

I wanted to also add that the fact that you received the secondary means you have a really good shot because they screen the primaries very carefully to pick candidates!! I just wanted to make the point that you should not consider the secondary a garuantee for an interview because that can cause you to slack on it....Hope this helps and good luck! 🙂

I'm pretty confident that this is inaccurate or that you heard them wrong on your interview date. If you go to the official thread, there was some debate about this, but it eventually got resolved because people were being technical about wording.

Receiving a secondary does not automatically mean an interview. However, filling out the secondary and sending it in with the $200, technical agreements and your letters of recommendation means that you will be invited for an interview. This, at least, was the consensus on the other page, and supposedly came from Obed himself.

No. But very few schools (especially private schools) do.

i remember hearing the same thing during my intervew at TOUROCOM!

All the TOURO's all have an MCAT cutoff of 23-24 (that's what they say anyways). It's not set in stone, but all 3 of my rejection letters said I didn't meet their MCAT cutoff. 🙄

Just FYI, there are 4 other DO schools (that I know of) that have MCAT cutoff's as well.
