200 dollars? thats crazy high..is that for just one school? Im considering withdrawing from the two touros i applied to because 200 dollars for one secondary seems absurd considering most cost around 50...

Is that the new york and california touros?

For touro nv, I know I decided to wait until I heard from 5 or 6 schools post interview before I filled out the secondary because I didn't want to pay the $100 secondary. And it wasn't high on my list. Screw expensive secondaries.

Amen. Thats exactly what I was thinking..ill focus on other secondares and if i feel i need to hit this one up later on...The 200 dollar secondary better come with dinner and a massage...or at least a solid gold letter of acceptance or rejection.

For Touro-NY, it used to be a guaranteed interview if you payed the $200. I don't think they do that anymore since they get so many applications. (4000 applications last year)

If I knew I was getting a guaranteed interview if I payed $200, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Yea, I'm sure they made quite the profit off of people with the same logic...

I paid the $200 last year (based off genuine interest in the school), got an interview, and followed that up with an acceptance. Obviously, I don't regret paying the $200. It's nothing in the grand scheme, especially when that may be your only acceptance.

No... $200 is absurd and is a lot of money for a secondary fee. I think it shows that the school is designed to **** you with fees throughout your 4-year stay.

Its a $200 fee. What if you pay it and they reject you pre-interview?

Still, tuition is 10k less than places like CCOM or AZCOM, so you might lose $150 in comparison to CCOM right now, but you end up paying 40k less in 4 years.

Yea, no **** it's a lot of money. But, you would let $200 stand in the way of a possible acceptance? The whole process is a gamble and costs a helluva lot of money/time (college, MCAT prep, MCAT registration, AMCAS/AACOMAS primary, secondaries, list goes on and on). I certainly wouldn't let $200 get in the way of fulfilling a dream. If you have no interest in the school, don't apply. If you're interested, apply. It's pretty straightforward. I certainly wouldn't pay the fee just for ****s and giggles.

Also, your comment about the school screwing you over with fees holds no credence.

Doesn't Touro-NY also have a really expensive deposit, too?

Good strategy. Not to mention the money you save on those two secondaries cold be put towards a plane ticket to interview at a more desirable school.

I wish FAP was more giving...

If you're competitive for DO schools and TouroNY isn't a priority school, I'd hold off on submitting the secondary until you get word from other schools.

If you aren't as competitive, the $200 may be worth it since it's an [almost] guaranteed interview... and you should take any interview you can get if your chances are low.

Simple as that.

If you received FAP from AACOMAS, Touro will waive the secondary fee (according to CIB). Out I the schools I'm applying to, Western and Nova were the ones that don't waive the fee.

I wonder if Ohio Heritage waive the fee too? confirm please😕

For a second I thought the title had said, "Touro secondary app free"

I was very excited but then :meanie:

For which touro?

California. I got the secondary today too. But 100 is still a lot when you're applying to several schools, and moving at the end of the month with a larger security deposit to pay. But I understand why they do it, so only serious applicants will apply. Anyway I guess I'll just dip into my savings.

NY = $200. Not sure about NV.

touro california i just got their secondary -- it's $100
touro NY is $200

100 is still really high when a lot of schools are 50..and 200 is a big pass for me.

Plus, the inside is supposed to be really nice. 🙂

This is not how I felt when I interviewed there...nothing special from what I remember. Small library, enclosed study areas with no windows, tiny gym. It wasn't bad, but it felt kinda gloomy inside. Also, someone correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the med school have just one floor and pharmacy occupies another? I don't know why everyone hates on the exterior...looks fine to me.

However, it's NYC which is a huge plus (except the cost of living) and can yield some great opportunities.

Lol. I see where you are coming from, but honestly, it is in friggin' New York. Do you want it to be a beautiful campus that is 1000 acres and pay 80k/year tuition for it? I don't. Plus, the inside is supposed to be really nice. 🙂

MSU is the only school with 80k tuition. I don't know what Touro-NY's tuition is, but unless it's ridiculously low, the COL in NY will cancel out any tuition differences.
