Anyone know how the traffic is in the area around the Philly Step 2 CS center? Debating whether or not to drive there on the morning of the test from central NJ...

I am interesting in finding out as well.. I plan on driving there the morning of from North Jersey.. exit 142 of GSP...

Also anyone know if there's a parking garage near by.. i guess i could always take a look with google maps...

Tomorrow morning. I think I'll just leave home really early (4:30ish) so I can get there by 7:30 with time to spare. I'll post an update on the traffic situation.

and parking too.. heck might as well post on the whole experience.. how was the center, how were the patients (nice, mean, indifferent) did all the computers work or did you have to hand write some notes?

thanks a lot and good luck..

I just took it Tuesday and drove from the center city best western about 2 miles away. I left at 7:30am and made it to the parking garage around 7:50, and that included a breakfast stop at the nearest Wawa and having to drive around the block because I missed the turn into the parking garage. Overall a quick drive, no problem with traffic.

Parking garage is DIRECTLY across the street.

Computers worked fine, I typed all my notes.

Be cautious of traffic, but it wasn't so bad for me.

Experience overall was fine, if you ever saw standardized pts at your school where you saw then, counseled them, gave them a plan and wrote a note, it's practically no different. Just make sure to cover the nuances in first aid for cs and you'll do fine.

Hopefully I passed and my assessment is valid.

Thank you for the post.

What about lunch? is it provided for you do you bring your own cause I don't think they give you too much time for that..

Thanks for the info. How many stations were there exactly?

They provide you lunch there during your first break. There are 12 pts total. You see the first 5 pts then get 30 mins for lunch, then you see 4 pts then a 15 min break, then you see the last 3. Although they give you lunch, you should bring your own stuff to snack on during your 15min break as well.

So this morning I left home (near Exit 10 on the turnpike) at 4:45 and got to Philly at 6:30. Mind you, I drove under the speed limit because I really wasn't in the mood to get pulled over on the day of my test. Also, there was no traffic at that time. Parking across the street cost $20 for up to 12 hours. Getting there early gave me time to look for breakfast, which was harder than I thought. I eventually found a Starbucks and a Dunkin Donuts. I walked to the test center at 7:30. Everyone showed up so we started on time. The lunch was horrible. Stale bread, cheese, and some kind of tuna-ish type spread that I didn't go near. I just ate some fruit and a few cookies (Luckily, I had eaten a huge breakfast sans water). The facilities were really nice and we ended on time. On the way home, I got stuck in tons of Friday afternoon traffic. Took me 2-2.5 hours to get home. Overall though, I had a good experience.

thanks for the heads up about lunch.. i'll make sure to pack one with me.

glad to hear that it will be an easy drive over there.. i really didn't want to waste $200 on a hotel room when I am only like 2 hours away.
