Hi -

I will earn my bachelor's in Psychology soon. There is quite a bit of Bio coursework in there. (I am 12 credits short of a Bio major, but am opting to save the money I would have used on the 9th semester for the double major and use it on a post-bacc instead. There's transcript repair involved here because of excessive W's from now-resolved intractable severe epilepsy and I want the reinvention to be more noticeable.)

In order to qualify for financial aid for a post-bacc, I would need to apply for a second-bachelor's rather than taking the classes as a "student at large". For a second bachelor's, they make you indicate a major on your application. I would probably list something like History. I doubt they would approve Biology because I was inches away from a second major. Maybe Chemistry? (I'll ask.)

Said major will be listed on my transcript when I turn that in to apply to medical school. I would also have to take a few History classes in there if that's what they'll approve. Does 1-2 liberal arts classes in a reinvention post-bacc look odd?

Are there any problems with this I am not seeing? I am concerned about being viewed as a person who lacks ability to stick with commitments.

Thank you!

I don’t think it would look weird. I’ve taken multiple courses (only one or two was stem related if you don’t count CS as stem) since graduating, out of interest. Didn’t come up in any interviews

Just a note since you mention saving money, not sure if it applies. You aren't eligible to receive Pell grant money after graduating with your bachelor's degree.

Thank you for letting me know! It's a small part of my current financial aid package. My financial aid shouldn't change much otherwise because it's all state and federal. It would cost me an extra $1000 to not have the Pell grant, but I don't think that's terrible considering the $8500 total a semester my state university costs in all, of which I currently pay about $2k. So, it would be 2k vs 3k, which I think is probably okay.
