I thought the official transcript that is sent to AADSAS must come from the institution that you attended.

You cannot get an sealed official copy of your transcripts early (hold on to them at your house), and then send them out yourself to AADSAS.

Can anyone confirm this?

The reason I ask is on the opening weeks of applications (dental, medical, law, MBA, etc.), my transcript office has about a 2-3 hour line. 🙁

Nope. Has to come from the school(s)

I'm assuming that the schools like kindly put the transcript matching form from AADSAS into the official transcript envelope.

Right?

Yes you can DEF do this. I did last year. But only if its an official sealed transcript and it doesn't have a "student copy" or something like that stamp on it. last year, I had my transcripts and sent them in with the matching forms on my own.

Basically just have your transcripts ready, and when AADSAS opens, print out your transcript matching forms and kind of wrap them around the appropriate transcript, stick that in another envelope and mail it into AADSAS. works out perfectly fine. even better if you can send in all your transcripts (with their respective matching forms) in one big envelope.

Don't worry about the part about registrar's signature and stuff like that (I don't remember exactly what was on there), AADSAS only needs the matching forms because they have a barcode on them that basically link them to your account.

This is really good news actually! Then I wouldn't have to wait in lines at two institutions on opening day!

So:

1) I'll go to my schools, obtain my Official Transcripts (sealed with the official stamp across the seal).

2) Wait until June 3rd, then print out the Matching Form from AADSAS.

3) Place sealed Official Transcripts Envelope and Matching Form in another envelope addressed to AADSAS.

Can anyone else confirm this for me?

Is it possible for you to call an AADSAS representative right now or are they closed? that would probably be the best bet to get the info you need.

I will contact AADSAS tomorrow about this. Can I email them?

In the mean time, if anyone else can verify/answer my question, that would be great!

I got my info straight from calling AADSAS last year, but be careful, different reps will give you different answers. Two told me I couldn't send in my own transcripts but one told me it would work out fine and it did. So the answer you get is totally dependent on the person who answers.

I personally sent mine both times I applied and there was never an issue. Make sure the envelope stays sealed and staple the matching form to it.

To be safe, have your school send it. I know you can get an official transcript from your school, but I wouldn't send it yourself. Could delay your application. Most school take 3-7 business days to send it in.

This is the way I'm leaning.

I'm afraid of doing anything that may potentially cause more delay than promptness. 😳

You do realize that sending it yourself is probably the fastest/safest way since you can probably overnight it or send it certified mail so you know for sure it got there.

we need one transcript from each school we've ever taken classes from for every school we apply to right?

so if we mail them ourselves do we put them all in a giant envelope or in individual ones?

Is says specifically in the application instructions that transcripts mailed from students aren't acceptable...doesn't mean they really pay attention to it though.

I think I'll just play it safe and have them sent from the school, although TerpFan's argument makes the idea of sending them myself very enticing.

What could really be wrong with sending them yourself if the envelope is sealed and officially stamped across the seal by a institution employee, (and of course never opened by you)?
