Hello! I need some advice here...
has anyone transferred vet schools after the first year? I am specifically talking about transferring to Cornell, my in state school. I got accepted to an out of state school, and am thinking about accepting it with the hope that I can transfer to Cornell. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks in advance!

Also would love some info on this! for transferring to Texas A&M (my IS)..

I’m applying to transfer to my IS (Cornell) currently. Feel free to PM me! Fair warning: the process is annoying.
Most of the time is doesn't work out due to curriculum differences. You will have to contact the schools you're interested in and have them compare to the school you are going to for an answer.
Mine ended up being almost perfect with the exception of one class (pharmacology), which I was told would be doable to incorporate elsewhere. I had to send them all of my syllabi for my classes.

Where are you wanting to transfer from if you don’t mind me asking? What kind of things are needed to apply and do you have any ideas how many students they will take for transfer? Thanks!

Don’t go with the expectation to transfer, because it may not happen. Transfers typically only happen if the first year curriculum matches between the two schools and there are seats that open up (I.e. students at the receiving school leave the program). So if your school’s first year curriculum does not match that of Cornell’s it’s a nonstarter. You can certainly call Cornell and ask if they have had transfers from your school. But if not it’s an annoying situation where the Cornell has to get syllabi from every class you take at your current school (and I doubt you can get it in advance because they’re typically released for your class just before the semester starts) and then assess how well it matches up. So unless they’ve assessed it for your school in particular previously, I doubt they would be able to tell you right now whether the curricula between the schools are compatible.
