To those of you who have taken the test lately, how many of the trig identities should we know? Obviously, the inverse and the Pythagorean, but should we also know addition and subtraction, double angle, half angle, tanget, product-sum and sum-product identites?

mshopleful,

I appreciate the response. It's reassuring to hear you didn't encouter any of these. Hopefully I won't either. It's not like the identities are hard, only that it amounts to a considerable number formulas you have to have memorized for this test when you take all the others into consderation. Fingers crossed. Irrespective of that, I'm going to study them "just in case".

I definately had some trig identities on my test, some of it quite complex. If I had studied them in more detail my score might have been one or two points higher

In my opinion, you should just do several complete practice QR sections and from there, you will get a sense of what types of trig questions will be asked. You should do a minimum of 5 full-practice QR sections. I used the QR sessions from the Kaplan Blue Book and Barrons.

During your practice sessions, if you are having problems solving the trig related questions in less than 1 minute, then there is a trig identity or two that you are not utilizing.

In addition, trig identities are also used in story problems since many of the story problems involve solving trianges.
