Ok so I need some advice. I completed my freshman year of my undergrad at Lewis & Clark College (small liberal arts school in Portland, OR) and then transferred to the University of Oregon. I have already completed most of the standard premed requirements with the exception of physics. At UO I would be majoring in Human Physiology. I recently found out that I got accepted to the University of Southern California as a Business Administration major. Pretending that money isn't part of the consideration what should I do? USC has the #9 undergrad business program in the country. Will applying to med school as a business major help me to stand out from the millions of bio/chem majors? Would med schools care how many times you transfer? Any advice or insight would be welcomed.

Transferring out of human physiology at OU and into business at USC, then applying to medical school would make me wonder:
1 - Can't s/he make up his/her mind? and
2 - In it for the money? (Not that I would have the 'In it for the money" question about every business major -- just something about these circumstances...)

So some strategic questions:

-- How are your grades so far? Over a 3.6? Meaning how likely are you at this point to get into medical school? If it's looking *unlikely* then go with the degree path that gets you the brighter career prospects. (Probably USC)
-- If you're in a good place for getting accepted to medical school, then choose the path that will help you achieve that goal. (Probably OU)
-- Unless business is really where your passion is. (Then USC)
-- If it's only / mainly for the prestige of the business program, then no. An undergrad business degree - even a top-ranked one - is not the same as an MBA.

Don't quite understand why you were applying to UO for physiology and USC for business at the same time? Are you from LA trying to get back home? Are you from Oregon and did it just for the program at USC? UO is sure a hell of a lot nicer place to live than USC... and you can get a minor or whatever in business here if you are really interested in it.
Basically I don't think you should transfer if it is purely because of the "rank" of the business program. I honestly don't think med school will give a crap about that! Just go where you think you will be happy 🙂 Also why did you transfer away from L&C? Just curious and these are definitely questions you will need to have answers to for the med school interviewers looking at your transcripts!

Majoring in business will not help you stand out in the med school application process

Majoring is human physiology won't help them stand out either. That is basically the pre-med major at UO.... that being said I know plenty who have gone on to great med schools. The point is just do whatever you enjoy wherever you like living more and you will be fine. 🙂

I guess the thing that I'm worried about is what happens if I stay at UO as a human phys major but then don't get into med school. I don't really want to be a physical therapist or something. Being a business major at USC gives me a backup job if I don't get into medical school.
