Hey everyone!

Anyone have any information on the IM program at Tufts? I checked Freida and the Studentdoc archives, but there's not a lot of information I've found. In general, do you know how many spots there are? Also, do residents tend to like it there? Any information would be great. Thanks!

I have a little bit of info. My former roommate did her IM residency there. She loved it. She said there was great pathology, very friendly co-residents, excellent teaching, great facilities. They have an excellent match list, and I don't think anyone would have a problem getting a fellowship after completing residency there. She really had nothing bad to say about it. This was before the hour restrictions, and she still maintained a good work/life balance.

That being said, I'm a DO student and I met with one of the directors of the IM program at Tufts, and I was basically told to not even bother applying. It's not a DO friendly program at all. I'm not sure about their attitude towards IMGs. I think for US allo's it would be a really incredible place to train, but it does seem like they have a little bit of a chip on their shoulder, and maybe somewhat of a complex being in a city with all the Harvards.

Difficult to get a sense of their current housestaff since there's no list online and their fellowship placement list is vague and not listed by year

Any thoughts? Even those that have interviewed this season?

I am completely in love with the program but there are two things I would personally like to know about -

1. Seems like the residents work a ton on wards. Of corse this will vary based of service, but any thoughts on what hours average out to? And how often do residents get weekends off?
2. Any thoughts on moving to a 4:1 or similar clinic schedule?

I think in every traditional IM program, you get 1 golden, 1 black, and 2 1-day-off weekends. Tufts seems to be the same. I also saw that residents seemed to work a lot when I visited.

They mentioned 4:1 type schedules and I think they said they had no current plans to change to those.

Hi, I have a quick question. When and where did your interview start? I thought I had this information, but never seemed to get the formal info? Would really appreciate it if you could let me know!

Thanks!
