I interviewed on 11/28, and I still got nothing in the mail.
I'm in Maryland. I guess we need to wait little more, especially in this season of the year 😀.
Merry Christmas! 🙂

I'll see your 11/28, and raise you an 11/14. Still nothing.

It's been a long, long wait.

braluk, Do you know if the school is going to be open around new years? I'm heading down there for the sugar bowl and wanted to see some more of the new building since it wasn't completely finished(auditorium) when I was down for my interview
We start classes at aruond Jan 2nd if Im not mistaken so yes, the buildings and such should all be open. If students will ACTUALLY be there 😉, well thats another issue

Hello,

I've been out of town for months but I interviewed at Tulane in Oct. and got my acceptance a few weeks later and will be there in the fall and just wanted to get back on SDN and get back into the loop. I'm from Houston and just wanted to say hi.

I interviewed on 11/29 and got my acceptance letter yesterday (12/24) dated 12/20! I can't wait to be there next fall!! Hope this helps!

Has anyone else who interviewed in November heard anything yet?
Should I call or email them?
anyway, happy new year guys 😀

Hey guys,

I'm a first-year at Tulane. I'm ecstatic that you guys seem so passionate about our school.

Just so you know, I was accepted off of the "acceptance range" only a week or so after I was put on it, so it certainly isn't hopeless to be put on it.
Oh, and for all you guys who think that you need a 36 to get in, that certainly wasn't the case last year, I believe. I got a 33S.

BTW, there are 175 people in our current class, and I believe this class will be the same size.

hey
did you write LOI?
i am wondering whether i should? and what to write😕? "hi this is an acceptence range applicant, and i still want to go to Tulane?" i have no update news 🙁

does anybody know Tulane's preference for getting LOIs? Email or snail mail?

I actually didn't send Tulane a LOI until I was accepted. There was so little lag between being put on the "Acceptance range" and getting in (I got an acceptance letter and never an acceptance range letter, found out over the phone) that I was just sort of depressed for a week and then very pleasantly surprised.

And for those wondering about PBLs. They are most frequent 1st semester but continue throughout the first 2 years.

Foundations in Medicine (aka "Doctoring 101") has many standardized patient sessions. About once every block. The class itself is a mixture of lectures, nutrition education, ethics discussions, vital signs training, community service, etc.

I think calling is more effective than emailing. I emailed once and never got a response, but when I called, she immediately checked my status. I interviewed Nov 15 with an acceptance letter dated Dec 6. Also, for whoever was worried about interviewers, I wasn't interviewed by either Father Don or Dr. Beckman, so I really don't think it affects your chances.

does anyone else know anything about writing an LOI at Tulane? as in email/snail mail and how effective they are?

Hey all--

I had read in last year's thread about sending letters of interest/intent and also about contacting Dr. Beckman via email (because they don't connect you to her on the phone if you don't have a decision yet)..

This is what I did last year and although I didn't get in then I did get in this year.. if anybody wants more details or wants to see my LOI(interest)
I sent you can feel free to PM for more info.

blech.. i finally got ahold of admissions today and i'm on acceptance range. she told me there usually isn't much movement until may 15th. unless i magically get an interview invite from boston u after sending them my fall semester grades to get off "hold" status, looks like michigan state is where i'll be! (and i did love it when i visited, so it works out...)

I don't know why there is all this talk about no movement on the acceptance range list last year. I was accepted off of it last January, only a week after I called and was told I was on it.

So guys, don't give up hope! You guys who were interviewed this cycle are much more likely to get in because they interviewed far fewer this year. This is especially encouraging since they had about 1000 more secondaries compared to this time last year.

may be they mistakenly put you on a wait list, and you were accepted instead. the person on the phone said explicitly that last year no one was accepted off the range. she also said not to expect any movement before may smth. so prolly you were an exception, a lucky one🙂

i do however hope that this year they will accept some people off the range.

I'm going to agree/disagree... I know of ~3 (it was either 2 or 3) people who received letters of acceptance but were told they were on the acceptable range but this list doesn't apply broadly.. They were attending a Tulane post-bac and had been talking with Beckman a considerable amount during the short while they were on the "waitlist"... However, I have yet to hear of anyone getting in off the waitlist past the May 15th mark and I communicated with staff constantly from April till the first day of classes.. They were about 15 people over in May I believe 189 is what Beckman told me and somewhow got the class down to 175 by the time classes started but never lower. So no there was no movement past May 15th on the "acceptable range" list. Hope this helps

just wonderin if any January interviewees have heard from Tulane yet?? anxiously awaiting news...

I think Jan. Interviewees should hear something as early as friday but most likely next week...can't wait! 🙂

hey kandy since you're already there, you should swing by the office and let us know if any decisions have been made yet!

Any tips for the interview? I´m finally scheduled for one.

be polite, be enthusiastic, and most importantly just be yourself! they'll see right through you otherwise. besides that, just relax. tulane interviews are not meant to be stressful. good luck!

I´m the day before. You staying for a few extra days to enjoy the festivities? Your screen name says yes.

Haha....

Well, I'm packing my interview suite, resumees, copies of personal statements, a tie, and shoe shine.......

along with....green, gold and purple feather boa, freaggin huge beads, and a cowboy hat.

Now, for the interview, should I go with the tie, or the feather boa?

if anyone is wondering --all interview slots have been filled at tulane....

I know it's a little early, but now I can hope the waitlist will start to move.

just wondering if anyone who interviewed in january heard back yet?

I interviewed in mid-january and got my "acceptance range" letter about a week later.

just wondering if anyone who interviewed in january heard back yet?

snail mail letter..but i'm sure you could call if you wanted..g'luck! 🙂

THey're full for interview slots? Maybe they can just hurry up and reject us then instead of leaving us hanging and wondering.

I got my acceptable range letter yesterday and interviewed Jan 11th

Judging from the Tulane Automated Updates thread, it looks as though Tulane has offered all of it's interview spots this year. Here's to hoping the acceptance range list sees some action this year. Another user mentioned that the admissions committee was planning on interviewing less people than last cycle, so I'm feeling optimistic that there may be hope for us...anyone have any insiders info on this?

so this is kinda random but after you got my acceptance I needed to send a written reply telling them I was still interested by 2 weeks. So I sent them an email the following week (I was accepted 10/30). However, with the craziness of interviews last semester I kinda forgot about it in the sense that I never got a reply from them. I remembered this like 2 weeks back and sent them 3 emails over the past 2 weeks still without any reply on if they actually got my reply in october (and if my spot it still being held). I am kinda disappointed with their lack of communication...it's really is turning me off about this school

Hey I also did the email thing and I got a response from someone in the office who said they forwarded my email to Dr. Beckman.. I would suggest emailing her directly because she will definitely get back to you.. you could also call admission and ask to talk to beckman because they will let you now since you're accepted (if you aren't supposedly you're not suppose to communicate with anyone but I did lol)

Hope that helps you.. don't get too turned off over this.. it's probably a crazy time there since interviews are wrapping up (supposedly)..

i didn't get a reply either, so i followed up with a phone call and they were happy to check and tell me they did. you should call, i don't think email is one of the encouraged ways to get in touch with them. which email address are you emailing?

Hey, if you are feeling any hesitancy whatsoever, I think you should go ahead and follow your gut...I'd be more than happy to take that acceptance off your hands 😀
