Hey Everyone

I just want to know what you guys think about this. I graduated with a 2.5 GPA and a 2.1 sGPA. After that, I went back and retook my pre-reqs (I took Gen Chem 1&2, Bio 1&2, Stats, Psych, Genetics and Microbio). Between all those classes, I only got one B+ and the rest are A- and higher. I also completed a certificate as part of a public health program and will be graduating with a 3.9 GPA from that as well (very short..only 17 credit certificate).
I took the GRE's last winter and have a score in the 75th percentile.

Now I want to know how you guys think admissions look at GPA's. Right now, including my undergrad GPA, my gpa is barely over a 3.1 (I had a double major as an undergrad). However, my GPA from the past year or two has been at least consistently above a 3.7.

Should I bother applying? I am scared that places will see my 3.1 and throw my application away despite my major change and good GRE's. I also have a ton of experience related to health care, exceeding at least 5,000 hours. Please help if you can. I would greatly appreciate it.

if it is quality hands on hce you can probably find a place that will take you. if it is low level/quasi secretarial hce like scribe it will be a lot tougher. lots of places use 3.0 as a cutoff for interviews so if you write a good statement, have good lor's, community service, etc you should get in somewhere. good luck.

Thank you so much for your reply! It is actually 3 years of being a paramedic, so it is definitely hands on patient interaction. In addition, I also have done an internship in a mental health clinic, as well as being a member of Americorps for 2 years (a community service organization). Hopefully it will pay off!
