Better start a new thread, rather than hi-jack the other one completely. But yes Trinity, I agree with you, back in the day, where every night each network had its share of 4 multi-cam sitcoms, Frasier was the best, smartest writing to come out of that town. Couple of my friends worked on it, one of my first scripts ever was a Frasier sample...
So, let's kick this baby off... What do busy doctors/residents/med students like to watch?
I told you my list already. But I'll restate as this is a new thread:
D712 FANTASTIC LIST
- Breaking Bad (unreal storylines, acting, writing, directing this has everything)
- Homeland (only 12 eps have aired, catch up on them fast, this show is nothing short of brilliant. clare danes, mandy patinkin (sp?). probably my favorite show.
- Weeds (Justin Kirk steals scenes like nobody else, witty, irreverent, love the writing)
- Archer (lord, incredibly funny 1/2 hour animated primetime series on FX. if you have a sense of humor and don't get offended, and like James Bond kinda stuff, check it out.)
- Californication (losing its steam sadly, but David Duchovny can still hold a show, and they have some steam left in the engine).
- Hell on Wheels (love it all, really great stuff)
- American Horror Story (so campy, it's perfection, first season was set in a house with a history, next season will be ALL new characters (except 2) and a new setting. Created by Glee peeps, and done VERY well.
Jessica Lange deserved an Emmy.
- Curb Your Enthusiasm (funny, semitic humor).
D712 90s FANTASTIC LIST
Seinfeld
Murphy Brown
Wonder Years
Will and Grace
Frasier
Mad About You
Ellen
Everybody Loves Raymond
King of the Hill
OZ (great show)
Homicide (great show)
Law and Order (until Paul Sorvino died, then I was done... haha)
Newsradio
Larry Sanders Show
I'll think of more.
D712 80s FANTASTIC LIST
Brooklyn Bridge
Family Ties
Golden Girls
Cosby Show (I was 10 or 12 in early 80s...)
Miami Vice
These current shows I watch for personal or work reasons. I find the writing and acting on ALL of them to be truly brilliant.
I never thought I'd start a thread like this here, but it's been 1000 posts...what the heck!
Of note, I don't really watch procedurals anymore. Occasionally, I'll watch a Law & Order SVU or Breakout Kings or NCIS:LA or something else just to check out something new, but I'm really fried on the procedural stuff. If anyone is wondering, I'm writing Dramas these days, but I've also done animation and sitcoms.
