Jared got billions from the Saudis to 'invest' at a 1.25% fee, or 25 million a year. Mnuchin got 1 billion at 1% a year. Nothing to see there either. Come on man if we're going to get upset about corruption let's go after numbers that have escaped little league.

It’s greasy as hell, nobody is arguing that. The whole laptop story is just ridiculous though, the right loves talking about it but never show anything substantive.

This is literally the only part which raises any eyebrows at all, and as far as I know there's no evidence of any quid pro quo that directly involved Biden.

Listen, Hunter is a coke addled failson who has probably used his family name to make money. But if that on its own is illegal then pretty much every prominent business or family in this country worth a few million would be in jail.

Instead of eyebrows, it should raise some eyelids. I worry that the only reason there is no evidence is bc no one is looking.

I would ask if the right was doing this, would the msm cover it the same…but no need bc we all know the answer.

Who cares if media is covering it--is anything legally being done about it? Anyone been indicted yet? On either side? By anyone? No? OK great so business as usual then let's not get all upset over what the ****ing daytime news covers or not.

Hunter is Joe’s son
He struggles with drug addiction
He is involved with many business dealings abroad for which he lacks the requisite experience
He has been paid very well for those dealings
There are emails where he offers to make introductions to his father.
There are emails which describe payment terms to hunter (H) and Joe (the big guy).
During these dealings Biden was VP.
There are others like Tony Bobilinski who have corroborated these business dealings
The laptop story which was run in the NYPost was actively suppressed by many media outlets including twitter. Now we know biden’s team directly asked for this to happen
When asked about this before the election Biden himself did not deny any wrongdoing but said the story was Russian disinformation (clearly a lie given what we know now)

What of the above do you disagree with and why would this not be worthy of investigating?

Elon Musk is risking everything with his experiment on Twitter. Billions to buy Twitter with losses to Tesla stock. Now, Elon's fan base is dwindling as the left/far left were some of his biggest supporters of the Tesla stock. If I had to guess which one person the left hates the most the answer would be TRump vs Musk with Musk being far more dangerous to the Democrats.

Musk is truly laying it all on the line with Twitter and Tesla. Tesla's sky high valuation was always a result of the myth of Musk/Tesla. Musk was seen as the Steve Jobs of our time- no longer. Musk is the only Billionaire I feel a little sorry for. This fiasco may end up costing musk a combined 80-100 billion dollars in losses. I wonder if that money could have been better spent elsewhere to promote more worthy causes.

I have no idea whether Twitter will survive as a company. At this point, my hunch is that it can't survive with Musk at the helm due to the vitriol from the far left. I hope Musk realizes this and sells Twitter, likely at a big loss, then focuses on making better, more environmentally friendly cars.

We agree it should raise eyebrows but you are apparently comfortable with the investigative journalism that has been done whereas I have my doubts. The media after all votes and donates almost entirely to democrats and suppresses stories like this one 20 days before an election. Why would they have the sudden urge to do some real investigating now into what actually happened. You can see the mainstream spin on this already - it was just revenge porn and Matt taibbi is just doing a billionaires PR work.
 
What's sad is that we're in an era of "revenge politics" and none of it does anything to make things better for the country. Was spending time impeaching Trump (twice) somewhat a waste of time? I mean, yes and no, but now that Republicans have taken over the House I fear that's all they will focus on, ie, how can we impeach Biden? It's endless investigations and tax dollars wasted while we don't move anywhere forward as a country. And hear me as I say this, I fault BOTH sides for this.

You think his management strategy of telling everyone they need to work 2.0fte in exchange for nothing and firing over half the company with no apparent outward thought, destroying morale and trolling in his off hours has nothing to do with the fall of Twitter? I really don’t get the reflexive protection that is given by some people. Why make excuses for politicians. Left or right. If Biden is selling out the country, then he should pay after vigorous investigation by unbiased team. If trump is doing the same, I want him to get big jail time as well. Politicians should be held to a higher standard since they have have extraordinary power and responsibility. I do not get nor will I ever get why citizens don’t expect more from their elected government representatives.

Hunter Biden: Republicans release report on Joe Biden's son

Hunter Biden's lucrative work at a Ukrainian energy firm while his father was vice-president was "problematic", a report by Republican senators says.

But it found no evidence that US foreign policy was influenced by it.

Hunter Biden's presence on the Burisma board led to an impeachment trial against Donald Trump earlier this year.

Mr Trump was accused of pressing Ukraine to probe what the Bidens were doing in the country, and using military aid as a bargaining chip.

He was impeached by the Democratic House but cleared by the Republican Senate.

The 87-page report called the younger Biden's role at a company suspected of corruption "awkward" and "problematic" at a time when the US was trying to help clean up corruption in Ukraine.

However, the report found little additional information that had not already been publicly revealed in news reports and testimony to the impeachment committee.

Mr Trump has claimed that Mr Biden meddled in Ukraine to help his son's business interests, but lawmakers found no evidence of this.

The thing is that most of them are doing it. Outright treason won't be common but cheating and fraud for personal gain probably hits 90%+ of Congress and a good chunk of the judiciary. Desantis the hero of the right did it with his publishing buddies with his anti-woke textbook law, nobody there cared and he was overwhelmingly re-elected. The entire Trump line has profited enormously from his presidency, nobody in the base on the right cares and would vote for him again in a heartbeat. They police themselves and the punishment is functionally nothing so it won't ever change, might as well get upset that gravity continues to function when you drop your phone.

What if...and bear with me here... Taibbi *is* just doing PR for an Elon who's desperate to change the narrative away from the myriad problems he's having with his $44b blunder.

He met with Maxine Waters in the US and Bahamas where FTX is based. She chairs the financial services oversight committee in the US senate. No conflict of interest there…

Musk can do whatever he wants, he bought Twitter, just pointing out that Musks claims of “saving America”, “restoring public confidence”, and “freedom of speech”, doesn’t really hold water when musk starts banning people for posting stuff on Twitter.

He funneled just as many dollars to the GOP using dark money. It was just better PR for his facade of a public image to be associated with Democrats. Play both sides so you never lose, you know.

I know that’s what he said in his interview, but I doubt it’s true. He also said he had no idea what he was doing when he took out a $1 billion dollar loan to himself against investor assets…I’ll believe this “dark money” donations to RNC when he shows proof.

I love this type of argument. You ignore a greater problem (modification and direction of the twitter community allowed conversation with bias - to which Musk is attempting to eradicate) while labeling hate speech like it is some sort of thing that anyone actually supports. It's ok though, you are in good company with the rest of the left (no need to put quotations, stand up for what you think you believe in).
 
Counterspeech Doctrine is usually the take Musk has on these issues. "It derives from the theory that audiences, or recipients of the expression, can weigh for themselves the values of competing ideas and, hopefully, follow the better approach." Instead of Twitter, or the government, deciding for you what is factual and what is right, you get to decide for yourself. More speech is seen as the solution to hate speech, not enforced silence (which is impossible).

I live out in the sticks.

We have been on the Starlink waitlist for a year, since Dec 2021. Meanwhile paying $135/month for the local wireless ISP to give us about a 1-2 mbps connection, that works about 80% of the time. Better when the trees don't have leaves. Spring summer and fall have been really poor.

Starlink emailed us a couple weeks ago and offered to let us try their "best effort" plan. Full price, but no bandwidth guarantee since our area is still saturated, until more satellites get launched. We're deprioritized behind the regular residential customers. I said yes to the "best effort" plan, the box arrived last Wednesday or Thursday. Plugged it in and even with it on the ground with 100'+ trees around had an instant, reliable 100 mbps connection. It slows to about 7-10 mbps during prime evening hours but it's still world's better than what we had.

Elon definitely needs to put away his Twitter toy and get back to work at Tesla and SpaceX.
 
I'm currently using Twitter for it's intended us, which is arguing what's harder, kicking a PAT or making a PK? 😆 Ex-NFL kicker has said he's willing to bet 100k that he can make a PK on any goalkeeper in the world and he's getting roasted. That's MY Twitter.

When Matt said their was no government involvement, it is CRYSTAL CLEAR, he was referring to foreign governments. His whole thread is how the US government DID interfered.

To help a specific narrative, the CIA manufactured a complete and utter lie about the origin of the story saying that it was from a scary foreign government. This doesn’t bother you?
